Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots Review

Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots Review

It’s been a little while since I brought you a new review, my last one was the Alexander McQueen oversize sneakers review, which went down really well, and now I’m doing the Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots review for you! These are the brand’s famous combat style boots and I think they’re so cool! The description on the website is this:

The Cruz Flat in anthracite metallic grainy leather is a very stylish option for the winter season. Channeling a rebellious mood, this boot is detailed with a unique stitching design and embedded crystals making it a stand-out style. Pair them with your favorite jeans or a feminine skirt for a stylish outfit.

And that really is what made me fall in love with them, the design. I’d initially only liked the black pair as I hadn’t paid much attention to other colours, but when I was in London a couple of months ago, I kept seeing the Anthracite shade and it just took my breath away. That’s when I knew that I had to have that colour, even though they were sold out in my size. I looked around online for ages for size 40 as they were out of stock in most places, and I managed to find two available, however the first time I ordered from FarFetch, I was sent the complete wrong item. So it took a while to get hold of these beauties, but I’m glad I persevered, because third time lucky meant I got my perfect size and I got them for 50% off in the holiday sales during Black Friday! So, lets get to the review of these amazing boots!

The Design & Details

I originally fell in love with these boots purely because of the design. I kept seeing them online and I had started to get into the combat boot aesthetic. I think what most attracted me to these boots was the shape, how feminine they actually look because of the slim design, but also the crystal band around the top. I think that makes these boots infinitely more attractive and much more feminine, rather than masculine. It allows them to add a touch of girlishness to the overall vibe. I even love the little silver aglet tips on the end of the laces. There’s a little crystal on the back of the boot too, just to finish it off. The rubber sole is really chic too, it’s not too chunky and over the top. The Cruz does come in three different heel heights too, these are the flat (obviously) and you have a 65mm heel, or a 95mm heel. I think this particular boot style looks much better in the flat version though, compared to the heel.

The Sizing & Comfort

I took a size 40 in these Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots and that is my normal European size for shoes. I do have a couple of shoes from the brand in a 39, but these definitely don’t run big. I tried a 41 too, but they were much too loose. So if you are wondering about sizing, definitely take your normal size, or go up a half a size if you’re unsure. Regarding the comfort, they are pretty comfortable. They don’t rub your feet anywhere, the toes are not crushed, the laces aren’t too tight etc. and they do make for an easy wearing boot, but after a couple of hours, because the insole is quite hard, the bottoms of your feet do start to get sore and uncomfortable from walking on something so hard. I may need to look into getting a soft little insert, just to go under the heel of my foot, to cushion it. Other than the really hard insole, I would say they are incredibly comfortable and very easy to walk in. They don’t feel chunky or heavy or anything! They’re a good fit.

The Price & Quality

Now these specific Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots in Anthracite will set you back £950, however I didn’t pay that. I think that’s way too expensive for these boots, and as they were seasonal, I waited for the sale so I got them 50% off. The other colours are around £900, or £800 if you don’t want the crystal strap. The quality though is insane! They are so well made and the leather is absolutely gorgeous, even though this is a metallic leather, it’s so beautiful. The stitching is perfect, the boot is well constructed and sturdy as well. There was an issue with the size 41 I had and that is because one of the metal aglets fell off the lace, which I thought was not very acceptable for the price. This pair hasn’t had any issues though! If I’m being honest regarding the price, if you have the money, perfect, splurge, they’re worth it, but if you’re a little strapped for cash, wait for the sale on the seasonal colours! Or opt for the pair without the crystal strap as they’re more affordable.

My Overall Opinion

I give these boots 9 out of 10 in my overall opinion! I absolutely adore the shape, the design, the little details that make them special, how cool they look, the metallic leather, the crystal strap etc, they’re perfect in almost every way! My only let down is the hard insole so your feet do get a little sore after some hours, but I plan on adding a little cushion insert to help with that. They do squeak a little too because the leather is metallic, but that’s no big deal to me at all. I absolutely adore them and already have plans to get a lighter colour at some point, minus the crystal strap. I definitely recommend these boots to you as I can’t get enough of mine! They work with mom jeans and skinnies as much as they do with leggings and dresses!

I do not understand the craze for these boots , they may be practical and comfortable , but the look has a lot to be desired . Just get the originals Dm and not quite has expensive .

The original Dr. Martens are not the same shape, and definitely don’t come with the crystals to make them feminine. Dr. Martens to me are way too masculine and chunky, making my feet look like clowns as I have bigger feet for my shorter legs 🙂

I agree with you, 9 out of 10! These boots are just fabulous, so much more feminine that the Dr Martens, yet still androgynous and super sexy!

They are such fun boots and I love the crystal strap! I’m glad you got them in the end although it’s a shame the sole is so stiff and a bit uncomfortable – I hope that they soften a little time or you can add a little extra padding in there 🙂

Hope that you are having a great week 🙂

Glad you like them, Mica! I hope they will soften up a little and that the padding helps!
