A May Life Update

An Update For May

Hey everyone! I’m here with my May update! So I will jump straight into it. I watched Avengers Endgame, but don’t worry, no spoilers! I think it was fantastic and I really enjoyed it, so I recommend it if you’re a Marvel fan, but of course, if you are, you’ve probably seen it! I’ve been watching a few things on Netflix, so I recommend ‘Dead To Me’ as that was great! I’ve also been watching ‘Schooled’ which is hilarious as I am a Goldbergs fan! A song I have currently been obsessed with is Shawn Mendes’ new song called ‘If I Can’t Have You’ and it’s amazing! You can watch it on YouTube by clicking here. I’m a huge Shawn fan as you all know! And of course, if you missed it, I got my first tattoo as well a couple of weeks ago! I also collaborated with Long Tall Sally to do a blog post on the evolution of denim since the 1950’s, which I think some of you might love, so definitely check that out! My room is almost finished too, I just have a few little things left to do and then I can share! I’ve been reorganising other rooms at the same time and really getting into the Spring cleaning mode!

While I’m talking about Spring cleaning, I’ve actually changed a lot mentally over the last couple of months, again. Growing is a constant part of life and evolving has been something I’ve worked on a lot. I used to have a huge fear of change, I wasn’t very good at parting with things, and I had a general anxiety around most things in daily life. I’ve managed to focus on trying to get over these things now and I’m a lot more confident in myself and embracing change. I’ve learned to try and channel the anxiety into excitement instead of focus on the negatives of it, switching around the way I see it to be an opportunity of growth and fun instead. It’s been an interesting process, but it’s working. I’m just learning to embrace life more, let myself go a little more, and with that comes happiness! Anyway, lets see what I’ve been up to!

How beautiful are these diamond pieces? It’s a diamond star necklace and matching ring which I got to choose as a gift from The Diamond Store. I’m obsessed with stars, so I think they’re extremely elegant, unique and fun! You’re going to be seeing a lot more of these in my photos, and since a few of you asked about them on Instagram, the ring can be bought here and the necklace here. Don’t you just love them?!

I finally purchased my Allsaints Dalby Leather Jacket in Aries White! Remember when I tried it on in January and I had been obsessed with it ever since? Well I finally own it now and cannot wait to wear it. I ended up trying 5 different jackets, 3 size 8’s and 2 size 6’s because they all run differently, and as it turned out I had to keep the 6, which is funny as my Blush Pink one is an 8, so this colour does run a bit bigger than that one if you need any advice on it! Buy it here.

These are some snaps from our trip to Cardiff, Wales. I love it there as it’s one of my favourite cities in one of my favourite countries! I will most likely be going back soon as well!

I’m getting more into my cooking now too, and instead of just baking, I’ve been trying my hand at actual meals. This is a fish parcel that I made using a piece of cod, gluten free pastry, and making my own sauce. I originally just tried it with butter, but a friend suggested making a roux style sauce, so I did and it turned out much nicer. This is flavoured with parsley, salt, pepper and garlic, but I’ve got other combinations to try as well. I was really impressed with myself, ha ha.

This is my beautiful seahorse necklace from Swarovski that Adam bought for me for our 11 year anniversary at the end of April. Isn’t it so nice? It matches my tattoo too! Buy it here.

I thought it would be good to document me watching End Game, ha ha. Yes, I do dress in the most comfy of clothes for my cinema trips as the movie is over 3 hours long and I wanted to be comfortable as much as possible! I went all out on the confectionery too! Had to be done!

This is a new water jug that I’ve been using. I was given it as a sample to try out and it’s actually amazing. It’s by Zero Water and it purifies the water to contain absolutely nothing! I have a little tester stick and it shows there’s 000 in the water, which compared to my tap water reading of 317 for particles and contamination is insane! It strips it right now! You can see a video (click here) of Phillip Schofield turning wine into water with the filter too! Since all I drink on a daily basis is water, and I have an extremely sensitive bladder, this is wonderful!

Just a simple selfie in the mirror for Instagram.

And rounding it out with a fresh shot of my tattoo. Have you had a wonderful May so far? I’m heading to Lyme Regis on holiday next month and I cannot wait! Lorna xx.

Beautiful diamond pieces indeed. I still haven’t seen Avengers Endgame, I might do so sometime in the future, but I’m getting tired of the whole franchise. I used to be a Marvel fan, but now I’m just bored I guess. I think you can have too much of a good thing.
What you said about change being a part of our life is so true. Being in a good place mentally is so important and often it can involve a lot of soul searching.

That’s actually how I felt for a while, I used to be a huge, huge Marvel fan! Seriously hardcore, and I would watch everything about it on YouTube, but the last year wasn’t really getting me like that, so I went off it a bit. It took me 2 weeks to watch End Game, lol! So I totally get it, but it’s worth watching, it rounds it out nicely.

I watched the Avengers Endgame, too! It was so good β™₯ I really like your cute little necklace with the star, it looks so good on you!

I am so impressed with your cooking. πŸ™‚ That fish parcel looks wonderful and something I wouldn’t mind trying myself (though I’d have to omit the garlic but that’s easy enough). There really is something very satisfying about eating a meal that you’ve prepared yourself isn’t there? Is the pastry homemade too – I’ll admit I’m still buying ready made pastry myself. πŸ™‚

I do find cooking quite relaxing… I’ll listen to a podcast on my laptop while I’m doing it usually. I bought an Indian cookery book with some of my birthday money and I’ve been enjoying trying out a few recipes from that – I can’t eat Indian cuisine in restaurants due to my garlic aversion but with a cookery book I can happily make lots of garlic-free Indian meals. πŸ˜€

The pastry wasn’t home made, I’d probably find that quite difficult to do as I have gluten free pastry, but I just buy it ready made, I know even chefs recommend that as you just don’t need to bother making home made pastry these days, lol. It was delicious though!

You will have to tell me how some of the Indian recipes go πŸ˜€

I have photos of the first 2 that I made. I’ll try and get them up on Instagram before too long. I’m very pleased with them. πŸ™‚

Yes, I think ready made pastry is a perfectly acceptable shortcut… though my mum has always made her own pastry for everything so I’d not mind graduating to that at some point.

Could you let me have the fish parcel recipe please? I’d like to try it. πŸ™‚

Ha ha, I read that as ‘acceptable shortcrust’ lol! And yeah, sure, it was my own recipe though so I don’t even have measurements of anything, I just throw it all in and hope for the best :O

If it’s your own recipe then even better! πŸ˜€ Makes it even more interesting to try. πŸ™‚
