Valentine’s Day In Blush Pink

Allsaints Gemini Metallic Pink Jumper Outfit

First of all, Happy Valentine’s Day! I know not everyone celebrates it, but if you’re not in a relationship, that doesn’t matter either! It’s a day for love and appreciation and that reaches far beyond your relationship status, especially since we have Galentine’s Day now too, for the girls to spend together! I always feel like love is so important, it truly is what makes the world go round and what makes us happy, so make sure your loved ones know how you feel, whether that’s family, friends, or a significant other, and of course not forgetting our pets!

Now for me, I’m not usually too fussed with doing anything on Valentine’s as I always believe in showing how you feel as often as possible, not just once a year on a set day because that’s the rule, however, Adam had persuaded me this year to do something and I’m super excited for it. This may sound really lame to a lot of you, but we’re going to spend it doing a completely normal day, but without work! I know that might sound strange, but whenever we go out on the weekends (we do long distance so we only spend some weekends together) it’s always work related, so even if we go to town to have lunch, we always have to do a photoshoot before we eat, sometimes two (for both of us), as well as be on social media, so we never get to fully relax. With that in mind, Adam said lets have a day of no photos and no social media. It doesn’t sound like much, but to someone in our industry, it’s a huge gesture!

So, we’re planning a day of simple, regular activities like going out to lunch, going to a gelato shop that he hasn’t been to yet (I love their sorbet), going to look around the furniture shops, picking up some snacks for later, a walk through the park to feed the squirrels and birds their nuts, and then one of my favourite romance movies for the evening – Letters To Juliet (that’s what the snacks were for) and while we’re doing all this, not taking any photos, not using social media and just enjoying it for what it is. I am going to make sure I take one photo though of us together, just to remember the day with, but absolutely nothing work related and I couldn’t be happier! When I read this back though, I see how simple it is and how the little things in life really are what count towards our happiness, as I feel like this is taken too much for granted.

Now getting to my Valentine’s Day outfit, I wore my new Allsaints Gemini Metallic Pink Jumper that I actually bought a few months ago during the Black Friday sales. You saw it on Instagram and in a previous post when I shared an up close picture (see here) of the metallic stitching as it’s gorgeous, so you’re finally seeing it worn! I styled it with my Topshop Corduroy Skirt in Cream (you saw it before here) and my Topshop Blush Pink Ella Boots which I also wore with this skirt last time as it’s a great combo. I then finished it off with my Celine Micro Belt Bag in Clay.

When it comes to putting outfits together for Valentine’s Day, I’m usually all about going bright with bold reds or intense pinks and often opting for dresses as you’ve seen from the past years, however this year I wanted to make it much more subtle, more sophisticated, classic and understated. I think the pop of mauve and dusky pink from the jumper and boots is enough to give off a romantic air to the ensemble, but the way the jumper is worn slouchy (I took a size small) and styled with neutral pieces just makes it suitable for any other day as well, which is why I like it. It can be taken in any way you want it, and perfectly suitable for Valentine’s! I would love to know how you’re spending your Valentine’s Day and of course, please do tell me what you think of the outfit! Lorna xx.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Lorna to you and Adam, hope you both will spend it / have spent it great (depending on when you’ll read that). I think what he suggested is no lame at all, on the contrary. I am staying with my family today… at home mostly, but the important thing is the presence of the other person (and I feel it this way) no matter what you do together (even doing nothing would be enough as well I think).

About the outfit: a brave choice of colours; I admit, I didn’t like it at first, I guess due to the pink in it, or because I was still under the influence (somebody discussed influence here some time ago haha) of your neutral monochrome outfit or that “faux fur coat” one. But then after watching it for a couple of minutes, the colour combination…how can I say it… well, it began to make perfect sense for me especially with the boots having the same colour as the jumper. So, congratulations for composing this outfit.

I may have worded that wrong, I hope it didn’t come across as what Adam suggested was lame, as I didn’t mean that, I meant the things I enjoy and love doing, simple things, might be lame to some people, ha ha. I’m not really a very extravagant type of person, I easy going, I like minimal things as I appreciate them more than lavish grand gestures.

Thank you for being honest as well about your feelings towards my outfit, it’s not a problem you didn’t like it, everyone has their own opinions. Blush pink is one of my favourite colours and it complements my skin tone really nicely, and I thought styling it with other blush pink and neutral tones (that word again!) would be the best way to make the jumper the focus. I’m glad you changed your mind, but it’s fine not to like it!

I was surprised how it evolved from dislike to like but I think the reason is that it is not a simple or trivial combination. You ask for our opinions and not (necessarily) for our agreement so I think this and in general the fact that you value your readers’ feedback is one of the things that makes this blog great.

Oh yeah, I’m not offended by anyone’s opinions, especially if they don’t like my outfit. As long as it’s not horrible abuse being hurled at me for no reason, I’m totally fine with it lol.

That’s a lovely outfit and even though it’s pink I still think it’s different from what we usually see for Valentine’s day.

That looks like such a soft and cosy knit and I love all the tones in the outfit as it pairs so well with your top and skirt and boots, and of course the bag is the perfect finishing touch! 🙂

Your Valentine’s day sounds nice and relaxing, I hope you have a great one!

We didn’t do anything as we don’t really celebrate it here in Australia and hubby has been away for work anyway.

You’re looking like the ultimate Valentine’s dream in this outfit, so gorgeous Lorna! Blush pink is so beautiful on you and I love the boots, skirt and jumper, so stunningly pretty. I love the colour tones and definitely agree it’s subtle yet sophisticated at the same time, so gorgeous. I hope you and Adam had a perfect Valentine’s day, your plans sound lovely and a normal day without work sounds brilliant. Switching off is always so good and I’m trying to do this with my other half too more and more when I can these days, it really makes a difference. That gelato shop sounds to die for and you can’t beat Letters To Juliet! I spent Valentine’s at the beach with my partner, it was cold but we had fun nevertheless! We found some pretty beach huts and went for ice cream and hot chocolate, then on to one of our favourite Italian restaurants for a meal in the evening. Hope the rest of your week is lovely and you have a fabulous weekend ahead! ♥︎

That jumper really is beautiful. It’s such a pretty color and works so well with the neutral skirt. I also think that just spending a nice day together is a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

I love your outfit! I am the same about Valentine’s Day. It’s just a marketing scheme for some extra $$$ to businesses but I am not going to hate on anyone celebrating it, hehe. I love oversized sweater. I started buying some this season and I am living for it!

The jumper is such a gorgeous colour! I wouldn’t mind finding something in that kind of colour myself (though, obviously, in a style more suited to men, of course… 😀 ). I have a work colleague who holds some rather outdated views on men wearing pink… he was astonished when I told him I have quite a few pink items in my wardrobe. Anyway, I love your pink boots too… a perfect match with the jumper.

Your Valentine’s Day sounds terrific and exactly how it should be. 🙂

Oh I’m sure you could! I’ve seen loads of pink jumpers like this for men on places like ASOS, Topman, Allsaints etc! It shocks me how some people still don’t think pink is suitable for men lol.

Thanks for your comments =) I read & reply every one =)
