My Favourite Outfits Of 2018 & Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!

And we’re back! I actually hadn’t intended to take a weeks break at all, but I definitely needed it. I’m not sure what it is about the end of this year, but I’ve been a bit all over the place the last month. My sleeping has been really bad too, so I haven’t been getting much rest and that’s never a good thing for me, but at the same time I’m feeling a lot of internal shifts and changes to my personality and the way I am thinking, which is a good thing, as I’m feeling a lot more confident now. I’m known to have quite a wall up and be very quiet in person, but I’m learning to let that down a lot more now and just accept things, embrace myself more and do the things I want to do without as much worry. It’s very strange actually as it’s not a concept I’m used to, but I know as we age, and our cells change and reform, we do become completely different people over time, and that’s happening to me. I feel like 2019 will be a really good year for me, so I can’t wait to see what’s to come!

Anyway, as an annual tradition, I’m rounding up my favourite outfits from every month of 2018! It’s always nice to look back on them over the year and see how my photos have changed (compared to last years), or even my style, but I’m happy to report that I don’t think my look has changed all that much this year (although I am a bit less interested in denim now). What did change is my editing style though and the quality of the photos, which I am pleased with, as I love the rich orange tones now that I have in my photos. Honestly though, I got asked what my favourite outfit of the year was, and it’s so hard to choose! I think possibly either the white jeans from July or the all grey look from October. I love both of those, but in fairness I have liked most of my outfits this year! I would love to know what your favourites are though in the comments! If you do follow me on Instagram though (@LornaRaindrops) then you will notice a few changes to my looks as well as I’m going to be sharing more going out, party, evening styles as well, not just daytime, so I hope you like that. I’m thinking more bodysuits, skirts, dresses and lace!

Since we have come to the very end of the year now though, I want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you. It’s crazy to think that my blog is just shy of 4.7 million views and that to me seems incredible. To know that so many of you are out there, supporting me, reading my content, and are a part of this community is one of the warmest and best feelings ever! I can’t wait to get to 5 million and further. This year has seen a lot of growth in terms of my blogging and social media, while I’ve also had a lot of personal growth too, so thank you for coming on this journey with me. Without any of you, none of this would be possible and I probably wouldn’t have a blog. So genuinely from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. I’ve got so many plans for 2019 so I can’t wait for it to start.

Did I Stick To My Resolutions?

Last year I made some new years resolutions for 2018, so I was going back through them to see if I stuck to them, and here’s what happened:

Limit buying items and style what I own in more ways – Yes, in a way I did, I was a lot better with buying this year for sure.

Start saving as much money as I can to put towards a house – Nope, this didn’t go to plan at all due to finance issues.

Start making some wedding plans – Nope, I haven’t made any whatsoever.

Read 3 books this year – I managed to read only one.

Keep attending my Buddhist group – Yep, I have attended loads and still am.

See the specialist in London about Ehlers Danlos – Yep! I did! And I got diagnosed as you know.

Start physio for my loose joints – Yep, started that this year and it went somewhat well, but I’m still suffering from my knee pain so I don’t know.

Figure out something cool to do for my 30th birthday – I did! I went to Bicester Village and to the Auditorium in Bristol. Very memorable!

Keep working on my health and anxiety – Yep! This is a continuous process and as I mentioned above, positive changes have happened a lot.

I am not making any for 2019, other than to continue working on myself, my health, my mental health, keep positive and to try and push myself more to do what I want, despite anxiety. No goals except for a better, healthier me is all I need. I’m pretty happy with everything else. I guess my room changes could count as one, but it’s not a resolution. What are some of yours? Anyway, lots of love! Lorna xx.

You’ve had so many lovely outfits it’s hard to pick a favourite, but I do love that star print maxi dress! 🙂 It’s good you achieved so many of your goals from last year too. I hope that you meet all of the general ones you set for 2019! 🙂

Hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and you have a happy new year! All the best for 2019! 🙂

Happy New Year, Lorna! I guess we all have to start looking at the upper left corner of the calendar again as the Earth completed another almost perfectly circular path on its cosmic journey. This said, let 2019 be really happy for you and you succeed in whatever you undertake, regardless whether health, private, or work related.

I was also thinking of which your favorite outfit for 2018 might be, for me I admit…damn! This is a tough one. Maybe the white jeans from July and the Jessica Rabbit one, but this is a real „maybe“ as I find most of your outfits, especially from autumn gorgeous.

Going through your Christmast post as well, I somehow misread your lines regarding the tattoos 🙂 : a galaxy print shape OF A wolf 🙂 which may be cool actually: I mean a wolf head made of stars and some comets maybe or something like that. I never thought of getting myself a tattoo but if I ever go for it, it would be my star sign, which is Aries.

My plans for 2019 are finally to get back to photography and to get ourselves an allotment garden (mostly my wife’s idea actually, but I agreed to it 🙂 ). Also, and maybe this is the most important thing, our son begins school in September, which gives me some strange feelings of…I know it’s weird but I have memories of my first day at school back in 1984. LOL! Sometimes I have this scary feeling that Earth revolves too fast around the Sun, ha, ha. Anyway, it’s definitely a big step for all of us as a family and also a kind of a challenge, among other things due to our sons’s diabetes.
    Have a good start today!

Thank you for commenting and being here this year, Steven! You always leave such thoughtful responses!

I was thinking the wolf would be more of the nebula style, in purple and blue, like the one in the photos. I would have stars and planets etc. across my collarbone though!

I think I started school in 1992 ha ha, so only 8 years after you! I imagine that must be scary sending your kid to school, but I’m sure it will be fine and the teachers will understand all about the diabetes etc. so he will be in good hands!

Thank you for all your well wishes! And comments on the outfits you liked the most!

My favourite outfit of yours is definitely the burgundy top with jeans from January. This colour suits you so well and the top is really edgy. Also, I like the burgundy coat from the ending of this year (maybe I have a thing for burgundy nowadays?).
Also, I also made a resolution to read books, but I managed to keep it. Also failed at finances though 🙂

So I said to myself, “Self, you need to pick one of these as your favourite.”

Looked through them thrice, couldn’t make up my mind. I guess that means you maintained a high standard all year. 🙂

Ha ha ha, ONLY 8 years…you are so tactful Lorna; now I feel like actually I am getting younger with the start of the new year… 🙂
I think around 1992 I made my first (and last) telescope with the intention of finding some unique patterns on the surface of the moon. And I almost succeeded in convincing myself that I actually saw some, while my classmates were convincing themselves that they had romantic affairs ha ha. My stuttering was pretty bad those days (it’s almost gone now) so I got a bunch of nasty nicknames and kids who imitated me, but the interesting thing is that now I wouldn’t have it any other way.

WOW what amazing style and writing. I’m new to your blog but I thoroughly enjoyed reading your year’s journey and appreciate your honesty about your resolutions…sorry about your diagnosis! I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease this past year and I just turned 30 in October! Could we be blog friends? I don’t want to be forward but I’ve been blog surfing all week and yours is definitely one of my favorites! Hope 2019 brings you good fortune and looking forward to following your blog! xx

    Hi Lorna

Happy new year to you!! Thanks for sharing some of your outfits from last year, you have such good taste and really know how to style clothes together. You make the dark red top, skintight black shiny jeans and strappy heels a real showstopper and my heart ache!! https://raindropsofsapphire.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/lorna-burford-tight-jeans-lace-up-top.jpg

I love the picture of you and Adam too, that’s so great. You’re like gorgeous bookends. Can you let me know which jacket that is and I’ll see if I can get one!!

Thanks again, best wishes and much love to you and yours for 2019

    James xx

Thanks for your comments =) I read & reply every one =)
