The Military Blazer Outfit

The Zara Military Inspired Blazer With Burgundy Jeans

Remember when I shared this Zara military inspired blazer with you in a previous wish list post, well here it finally is – worn! I wasn’t sure how to style it and whether or not I should opt for shorts and boots, or whether I should go a bit more classic and to my own personal style, so I went with the latter. It’s a statement jacket on its own so keeping everything minimal and within the same colour palette was what I thought looked best.

I styled the Zara jacket with my 7 For All Mankind The Skinny Ankle Jeans in Mulberry, as the burgundy shade of these jeans was almost identical to the burgundy parts of the jacket, making them the perfect match by coincidence. I then chose my GAP navy long sleeve top as it also complemented the blazer, then finished it off with my black REISS ankle boots, and my Valentino Small Lock Bag in Ivory. The gold hardware of the bag was really complementary to the gold in the outfit, so it was an ideal choice without taking too much attention off the star of this look.

I was thinking that thigh high or over the knee boots might have been a better option, and make more of a statement, but I wanted to keep as much burgundy as possible so I went for ankle booties instead – which I hope look just as good! I would usually wear my bags as cross-body bags too since I like my hands to be free, but wearing this one that way just didn’t work because of all the intricate detailing on the military jacket.

Speaking of which, how amazing are those buttons and the gold trimming? It’s so fancy! I’ve never owned a piece like this and I just find myself staring at it. I wasn’t sure at first just how versatile it was going to be and whether or not I could wear it on my fashion blog more than once, but I’m going to make sure that I do and see if I can style it in numerous different ways while keep it interesting. I am intrigued to know how you would style this Zara jacket though? What do you think my next outfit combination should be when I feature it? Plus, as always, comment and tell me what you think of this outfit here! I’d love to know! Lorna xx.

What I Was Wearing:
Jacket – Zara
Top – GAP
Jeans – 7 For All Mankind
Boots – REISS
Bag – Valentino

This is wonderfully self-contradictory: it’s clearly on the casual side of the street, yet the military motifs create the appearance of formality right on top of it.

I’ve heard good things about 7 For All Mankind.

It is, isn’t it! It’s a cool jacket like that. Yeah, 7FM are really good, they do great jeans!

You did it so well, Lorna, you style it in a perfect way! I love military blazers and this one is particularly amazing! You look really fabulous! I wish I could wear skinny jeans (I can. but they don’t look good on me 🙂 cause your outfit is really super cool with them and burgundy is an amazing color! Hope you have a nice day!

It’s terrific! The colours are lovely and it looks very smart and distinguished and also a bit retro too. It’s so hard to think up suggestions as to how you might style the jacket next as, to my eye, you’ve got it perfectly right first time. Those jeans are the ideal match for it. But if I think of anything I’ll shout out for sure. 🙂

Wow Lorna, I’m loving this look! It’s very original, and the way you’ve styled it makes it different to anything I’ve seen before! The jacket looks incredible with all the intricate detailing and brocade, and the burgundy jeans complement it perfectly. You’ve chosen the ideal backdrop to showcase the outfit, and you look stunning as always.

    Lots of love Saba xx

I’m sorry but I’ve no other way of telling this to you… that blazer makes you seem overweight!
    To me that’s a definite NO-NO

I’m intrigued by that comment actually. Is that because on your screen you can’t see the navy top underneath, as a separate from the jacket, so it looks like one? Or did you mean when it’s on my shoulders and my arms are not in it? As for me I haven’t noticed it would make me look fat and nobody else picked up on that either, so definitely let me know where you meant! Thanks, Michael!

Yeah I can see what you mean, I think that might be because on your screen you can’t see my waist as the navy is very similar to the navy of the jacket. So it’s literally just an illusion on a screen difference I think!

            Possibly…
Try fastening the blazer so it hugs your waist or a different colour top.
I hope you understand what I mean by these comments!

I’m good with how this one looks, in person it was really nice. But that’s a consideration for next time as I wont be wearing a navy top again anyway.
