The Furry Slides Or Sliders Trend Review + Top 12 Pairs To Buy

The Furry Slides & Sliders Trend Review + My Top 12 Picks Ok, before you think I have gone crazy with this blog post, hear me out! Since I’m going to be covering my thoughts on trends and different types of posts like that as well here on Raindrops of Sapphire, I thought starting out with a trend that’s quite controversial (it’s literally like Marmite) would be interesting. The fur slides trend has been popular since Rihanna brought them out with her collaboration with Puma late last year, so it’s not completely new. Celebrities have been wearing them for many months as well, like Khloe Kardashian, Sofia Richie, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and more, so it’s definitely something that everyone is seeing out and about. I wont lie as I never like to, so I will say that I thought fur slides were ridiculous when I first heard about them and saw them. I thought ‘Why on earth would anyone want a pair of slides with fur on them? Surely it defeats the purpose of the slide?’, but my mind was slowly changed after being exposed to the trend more and more, but mostly because so many brands were bringing out their take on it and I fell in love with one pair in particular. How did that happen? Well I was out shopping in Bristol with my mum a couple of weeks ago and we saw a lady wearing a pair of black faux fur slides in a shop. I did a double take on them and thought ‘Actually, you know what? In person these look pretty cool!’ so…

My New Gucci Princetown Floral Embroidered Loafers Review

Gucci Princetown Loafers With Floral Embroidery Review As you know, I have wanted a pair of Gucci Loafers for ages! This pair in particular – the Gucci Princetown Embroidered Floral Loafers. I saw these on their website months ago and thought they were incredibly cute, but I wasn’t sure on the pricing of them as they were quite expensive, then as I was thinking it over, I got stung worse with a price increase! They put the price up by £50 from what they originally were which meant that I put these shoes out of my head for a while, well I attempted to… but everyday I found myself back on the website admiring their beauty and checking if my size was in stock. A week ago, I decided to just go for it and ordered them. I realised I was waiting for nothing in particular and was probably going to get them at some point anyway, so why the hesitation? I put them on my credit card and the rest was history, or so I thought. I wasn’t sure on the sizing originally as I did have a 39.5 in my basket since I’m between a 39 and 40 and thought going in the middle would be ideal, however I kept hearing that they ran really small and I needed to size up, so with hesitation I reluctantly ordered the 40 instead and hoped for the best. I knew I should have listened to my gut though because when the 40 arrived, they were much too big on my feet and didn’t fit at all, which then left me…

My Nike Roshe Two SE Trainers in Oatmeal Review

Nike Roshe Two SE Trainers in Oatmeal, Beige & Khaki I am literally so excited to share my new sneakers/trainers with you! These are the Nike Roshe Two SE Trainers in Oatmeal and Light Khaki, but sometimes known as Beige. These were incredibly hard to get hold of though as they sold out everywhere online and are coveted by everyone. I had been wanting a pair of beige or cream coloured trainers for a long time as they are perfect for the Summer and when I spotted these on Brooklyn Blonde some time ago, I fell in love. So… my search began. I finally found them online at Sarenza and when I saw they were even cheaper than their retail price of £90, I jumped at the chance to order them. At only £74.90, it would be crazy not to! When they arrived, I had ordered a UK 6 and 7 to check which size I would be as I wasn’t sure, and it turns out the 6 was the size that fitted. I’m usually a 7 in trainers like Adidas and New Balance etc, but these seem to run bigger in size. They were snug on me at first and because I have an accessory navicular bone in my foot that sticks out, they were rubbing on it, but once I stretched them out and loosened them a lot, they were perfect and fitted just as I wanted them to. If I didn’t have that bone though, they would be perfect from the beginning. Regarding the way they look, I wasn’t completely sure if I liked how wide they…

My New Chloe Susanna Velvet Burgundy Ankle Boots

Chloe Susanna Burgundy Velvet Boots For Autumn 2016 I can only start by saying that I think these are, actually scrap that, I know these are my favourite boots I have ever owned. I’ve always loved the Chloe Susanna Boots since I saw them a few years ago, but I wasn’t ever completely sold on the black and gold leather combination, so they always remained on my wish list. A couple of weeks ago I saw these Chloe Susanna Boots in Burgundy Velvet for the Autumn 2016 collection and boy did my jaw drop! You know how much I love velvet since I just recently did a post on the velvet trend, as well as having worn it for years prior to it becoming popular, so given that it’s my favourite fabric – these are a dream come true. I wasn’t quite sure whether or not these boots would work for me as I do have very short legs and a bigger foot size, so I wondered if they might end up like clown boots, which made me hesitant about buying them. That coupled with the retail value of £870, it was very steep. Luckily, I received a coupon code in my email from Matches for £200 off a £600 spend, which meant I couldn’t pass that up! I ordered a size 39.5 as I’m between a 39-40 (or UK 6-7) as I had read somewhere they ran a little bit bigger for Italian sizing, so I played it safe in the middle. I’m so glad I did! The 39 would have been much too tight and the 40 would…

Men’s Adidas Hamburg Shock Red Trainers Review

I’m really excited by this post as Adam is going to be sharing some things with all of you on Raindrops of Sapphire now and again. You already met him in our engagement Q&A, but as I have been slowly bringing in men’s content to my posts, a review is next in line! So here is Adam’s review on the Adidas Hamburg Shock Red Gum Trainers/Sneakers for you all. Enjoy! Lorna xx.  After years of wearing smart shoes, high end designer high tops and even casual summer footwear like Toms, my feet had long forgotten what it was like to wear something truly comfortable. When I finally got the chance to wear these Adidas Hamburg Trainers in Shock Red Gum it was quite a shock (pun intended) how much softer and how much more comfortable they are. Even walking around town all day doesn’t diminish this effect, which is like music to my ears, and that’s without socks too. I went for my standard sports trainer/sneaker size (not designer high top size) of a men’s UK 9 and it was the right choice – a perfect fit. With that, I would say they definitely run true to size in case you are wondering about the fit. I know Lorna can vouch for the Adidas sizing too as she has a pair of their Gazelle’s in Burgundy and she takes her usual trainer size of a women’s UK 7. They are slim with a very low profile, so despite these trainers being quite bright, I find them to be understated and versatile. I’ve long shied away from this style of footwear,…

My Valentino Rockstud City Sandals in Tobacco Review

My Valentino Rockstud City Sandals in Tobacco I am literally so EXCITED to share my new shoes with you! You have already seen them on Instagram and Snapchat as I always give you guys a sneak preview of everything before it goes live here, but here are the proper photos and review for you. These are my new Valentino Rockstud City Sandals in Tobacco that I got a couple of weeks ago from My Theresa. I had been saving up for a new pair of Summer shoes and these were just perfect in every way! I don’t have any designer sandals, so these definitely fill that void and I couldn’t be happier about it. When I first saw them on My Theresa, I did look around on Google for more photos and saw these ones here for better reference which sold it for me. I knew I wanted them. I already have my Valentino Rockstud Heels in Patent Red and Black which I got last year, but these are entirely different so I don’t feel like I have doubled up at all. So, lets get to my review shall we? Fit – I wasn’t sure which size to go for with these Valentino Rockstud City Sandals as I’m a 40 in the heels in patent leather, but I know with sandals you always need to size down if there’s an open back and an open toe. I ordered both the 39.5 and the 39 on my credit card and I kept the 39. The 39.5 did fit me, but there was too much gapping at the toe area and the…

Valentino Rockstud 100 Patent Black & Red Shoes Review

Valentino Rockstud 100 Patent Black & Red Shoes Review I can’t believe I’m writing this post for you, but I finally have my beloved Valentino Rockstud heels! You probably already know from numerous wish list posts and Instagram inspiration how much I love the Rockstud, I think it’s actually been for over a year, but I never ended up buying them until November. I was lucky enough to get these gorgeous beauties in the Black Friday sales on FarFetch and I’m over the moon. I was originally going to get the classic nude and black (here) but after seeing how beautiful this patent black and deep red Rockstud combination was, I was hooked! I did also love the deep red and nude pairing (here) as I thought maybe they were less dominant and easier to wear, but each time I looked at the black and red and asked others as well, they said this pair popped the most and looked the most striking, so my mind was made up! They came from a little boutique in Paris within a couple of days. The Sizing & Fit – I first tried on the Valentino Rockstud when I was in Liberty in London back in April 2015 and I opted to try the 39 (UK 6) in the classic nude and black in nappa leather. They did fit, but the length was a tiny bit short, so ideally I knew that I would be a 39.5 in the regular Rockstuds. When it come to ordering this patent Valentino Rockstud option, I decided to go up half a size and choose the 40…

Kurt Geiger Carvela Karen Platform Sandals in Tan

Kurt Geiger Carvela Karen Platform Sandals in Tan I asked on Instagram about 8 weeks ago now which style shoe you preferred out of a choice of these and another pair from Kurt Geiger. These actually came second and the other pair won hands down, however when I tried those on in the store, they looked terrible on me and didn’t suit my legs at all. After seeing these gorgeous Kurt Geiger Carvela Karen Platform Sandals in there too, I fell in love. These Karen platform sandals have a 70’s edge to them which is perfect, but they have a much more modern twist to them. In short, I absolutely love them! They are built on a solid 100mm wooden heel with quite a thick platform so the actual steepness of the shoe is not high at all as you can see from the shape of my foot, making them incredibly easy to walk in. They feature studs around the front of the tan leather and an ankle strap which fastens with a buckle so they stay securely on your feet without slipping. In terms of sizing for the Karen platforms, they do run small. I’m usually a 39 or a UK 6 in Kurt Geiger and I had to size up to a 40 or UK 7 in these when I got them from Debenhams. The 6 did fit, but I had a bulge of my foot coming out the sides and there was a little over hang at the back from the length, so definitely take your bigger size in these if you plan on buying them as…
