I read this post on IFB (one of my favourite sites for blogging articles) about bloggers readers and if they actually care about Fashion Week. As a blog reader myself (of numerous blogs) I can say that I tend to zone out when some of my favourite style bloggers just post Fashion Week stuff. Usually the readers go to these fashion bloggers to see what they are up to in their personal life, what they have bought and more importantly, their outfits of the day, so going there expecting to see these types of posts and ending up seeing runway shots is disheartening, so I usually don’t leave comments or skip past it. I find that if readers (like myself) want to see runway shots from Fashion Week, we will head to sites like Vogue who have the clear shots and inside scoop on everything in one place. This is just my opinion though, but it got me to thinking (which is the point of this post) do you actually like Fashion Week? I used to write about Fashion Week on my blog, some seasons ago, but it took up so much of my time and it wasn’t something I really enjoyed doing. Going through the shows and saving/uploading/inserting the images was just really boring and so time consuming for me, but I thought that it was the right thing to do because I work in the fashion industry and Fashion Week is the most talked about thing at this time of year, but it never garnered much interest from you guys and I felt like all that hard work…
I didn’t see much point in posting loads of different fashion week posts, purely because every other blogger is covering it and we all go to the brands websites or magazines to see the shows images. What I wanted to do was just pile my favourite looks together from my favourite shows that have walked so far. This includes Mulberry, Marc by Marc Jacobs and suprisingly Burberry. I have never really been a fan of Burberry, purely because living here in England it has a bit of a stigma to it, but the Spring/Summer 2013 show was my favourite fashion week show that I have ever seen! It was incredible! I can’t say that I have been a fan of many of the other shows as a whole. There have been a couple of looks I liked here and there, but in terms of a full collection, these three are my favourites. You may think I am a bit biased since Marc Jacobs and Mulberry are two of my most adored brands, but there is a reason for that – I literally love most of the things they design, so it makes sense. I didn’t really like much from the actual Marc Jacobs line though, just his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. So, if you click this post you can see my favourite looks from the three shows and my thoughts on them!
Here is the second show that I completely fell in love with during the shows! It’s the Betsey Johnson Spring/Summer 2012 collection which she showed at New York Fashion Week last week. I have always had a soft spot for Betsey Johnson because of how girly, feminine and fun her designs are! I love the bright colours she uses, the floral prints and how much her dresses resemble a princess. I think it’s nice to be reminded of childhood memories and imaginations with her collections. I don’t own anything from Betsey Johnson except for a pair of sunglasses as it’s really hard to get the brand over here but it doesn’t stop me wanting her clothes! I fell in love with the pink and purple puffball dress last year and liked it even more when Katie Perry wore it to the People’s Choice Awards! What do you think of these designs? Last year during Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Week I covered a lot of shows but it really took up so much of my time and I don’t have that much time for this year. What I decided to do was only cover a few shows, the brands I love a lot and the clothes that I think are gorgeous. Here are my favourite looks from the Mulberry Spring/Summer 2012 catwalk show that walked at London Fashion Week a couple of days ago. I’m in love with the bright yellows they used and I think the dress below reminds me so much of those refreshers sweets, don’t you think? I also love the floaty dresses and the jackets. This is definitely a collection where I liked almost all of the pieces! The one thing I love about Mulberry is how much they love animals and often use doggies in their shows and this year they had animal balloons! What do you think of the looks? Here are some of my favourite looks from the Varela LaMar runway show during Fashion Week Panama 2011 designed by Nixia Varela de LaMar. This year at Fashion Week Panama attendees saw a slight departure from Nixia’s usual classic designs. While she did include silk floor-length evening gowns, Nixia also included pieces with a hint of Bohemian. These flirty creations blended unexpected fabric combinations and prints which really work together. She even adorned the shoes to complement every design. My favourite piece has to be the polka dot silk dress above. The fabric and feathered belt really brings it to life. Without it, it would just be a plain dress so this bright and bold sash really makes it beautiful! Which look do you love the most? (Follow me on Twitter, Bloglovin and Facebook)
The one fashion show I wished I could attend was The Blonds Fall/Winter 2011 Ready To Wear show. It was full of sparkles, amazing colours, floaty fabrics and of course, Christian Louboutin shoes. They used a lot of the new Lady Daf heels in glitter colours as well as covering a pair in googly eyes! The Lady Daf is the mary jane version of the Dafodile which I posted Beyonce wearing here. The Blonds always make their clothes so fun and bright. They are full of energy and this show was exactly that! They used the Chinese Dragon as a symbol and inspiration for all of their outfits. I absolutely love this show. My favourite shoes have to be the purple or blue glitter Lady Daf heels or the spiked gold Pigalle Plato’s. I have included all of the photos from the show so please click this blog post to view them all. They are amazing! (Follow me on Twitter, Bloglovin and Facebook)
I know I said that my Fashion Week posts were over but how could I leave this one out? I saved this post until last because Christian Louboutin showed his new season, Spring/Summer 2011, shoes in a few catwalk shows during the Fashion Week hype. I think his new shoes on the runway are gorgeous! My favourite have to be the wedges above and the Viva Boom heels. He has so many beautiful shoes like always and these are only a few! Not all of them will be available though as a lot are made specifically for runway shows only but I will be doing a post soon on his new styles that are coming out as we speak! He has some pretty ones, I can say that much! I have been really good when it comes to Louboutins lately, I have only bought one pair in the last 5 months and that was my Fuxia Declic 120. I don’t think I am going to be able to be so good now the new ones are coming out! Please click this post to view many more images of his Spring/Summer 2011 runway shoes. Designer Vivienne Westwood, sent the models down the runway to present her new Spring/Summer 2011 collection during Paris Fashion Week on the 1st October 2010 in Paris France. Her Spring/Summer 2011 runway show was full of life! It had many bright colours scattered across the catwalk with shredded fabrics and lots of face paint. Each item is completely different and so unique in its own way. It’s definitely an impressive collection! The boots with the buckle straps have to be my favourite out of the whole show though! I think they are gorgeous! I’m not too sure how I feel about the balaclava style headwear though… This is my final Fashion Week post now so I am rounding it off with both of Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2011 runway shows. The Red Label collection is at the bottom of this blog post. Click here to view all of my Fashion Week coverage. (Follow me on Twitter, Bloglovin and Facebook)
