How To Become A Fashion Blogger

I get asked a lot of questions, usually around the same subject of “what made you want to become a fashion blogger” and “how did you get into fashion blogging”, but unfortunately I always feel like I don’t have a relevant answer for these types of questions, or one that would be what the person was looking for in an answer. The simple answer to both questions would be something along the lines of “I didn’t really know I wanted to become a fashion blogger, it was sort of a natural process that took its course” and “it just sort of happened”, these are really the only variations I can work around. So, I thought it would be fun to put together a post for you on becoming a fashion blogger. I’m not saying that I am super successful or that I am a great fashion blogger, I’m just telling my story of how it happened for me and some tips and tricks that I have learned along the way to help you out. The original reason I created my fashion blog, Raindrops of Sapphire, was because I wanted a place online that I could call my own, more like a personal place where I could share my thoughts and feelings towards clothes and accessories with others who might share the same interest as me. I had become a little familiar with some fashion bloggers over time, but back then I didn’t find them to be as inspiring as I do now, so it was just purely for the reason of wanting to expand my blog writing and expressing myself,…

My Outfit At Bristol Fashion Week

(Jeans – Exact, Blazer – Exact, T-Shirt – Exact, Bag – Exact, Scarf – Similar, Boots – Similar, Watch – Exact) Finally here is my post from Bristol Fashion Week that I attended on Friday 28th September 2012 at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway. I finally met Tara from The Style Rawr below who I know via Twitter. It was great to actually meet her in person after corresponding online for so long and I also loved seeing so many other bloggers too! Seeing their different styles and actually meeting someone who has the same job as me, since blogging is not a hugely popular line of work, was really cool. The fashion show was hosted by Andrew Barton and Mark Heyes again and was so much fun! Andrew and Mark are amazing together and really know how to entertain! They also added a new scene into the show featuring lingerie from Ann Summers! This was actually one of my favourite scenes (I’m sure it will also be yours David!) because everything was so flattering and pretty at the same time as being sexy. There was also a male model who was eyeing up so many girls in the front row and winking at them, he really knows how to get the girls interested lol! I was wearing my Paige Skyline Leaf Print Jeans, a Topshop Black Blazer and Burgundy Scarf, a Forever 21 T-Shirt, my River Island Black Wedge Boots, my new Mulberry Mini Taylor in Sycamore, my Marc by Marc Jacobs Rose Gold Blade Chrono Watch and various different Bracelets. You can see photos within this post from…

My Favourite Autumn Styles From DUO

I have collaborated with DUO to pick my favourite Autumn/Fall styles to share with you! DUO is a brand that I have been in love with for many years now. I have made posts in the past which include me wearing my own¬†women’s boots from DUO and I can’t wait to break them out again for Winter! I have chosen 6 pairs of boots and shoes which I think are perfect for Autumn in this post, I hope you like them! You can also see my outfits and how I have styled mine here. The thing that I love the most about the brand is the fact that they cater for anyone. They have different widths for shoes and boots which is so important to me because those of you who have been following me for some time will know that I have quite large feet (size UK 6/7) and very small calves (size 34). This combination makes it so difficult for me to find cute calf length or knee high boots that actually fit me. Usually, with the foot size I need, the calf area is massive and so baggy! That’s why I love DUO because even though I’m at the larger end of shoe sizing, I’m at the smaller end of the calf scale and they have boots to accommodate me. That’s why I’m so excited to be sharing this post with you! The black ankle boots called Novello (above) are going to be gorgeous with black skinny jeans and an oversize jumper or coat! I think they would work so well with that kind of outfit and…

The Camo Print Jacket With Black Jeans

(Jacket – Exact, Jeans – Similar, Boots – Similar, Watch – Exact, Bracelets – Exact & Similar) I made a post a few days ago, with my take on the camo trend and also gave you a preview of one of my outfits to come, so here is the full post. I wore this outfit on Sunday when I was headed to the train station so my boyfriend could catch his train. I was wondering how exactly I might pair the camo print, but I think with an all black look it works the best. It helps keep it masculine, but at the same time with my jeans being tight and wearing heels, it feminizes it a bit. I’m wearing my new Topshop Camo print jacket, my Levi’s Juniors Black skinny jeans, my River Island Black Wedge booties, my Marc by Marc Jacobs Rose Gold Blade Chrono watch and two Skull bracelets from ASOS and Miss Selfridge. I actually had to get this jacket from the petites section of Topshop and in a size UK 4, simply because all of my regular sizes of a 6 and 8 were way too big on me. I didn’t want the jacket to be too oversized and baggy, so sizing down to a 4 seemed like the only way I could get the fit I wanted. They seem to be making everything run huge at the moment. I can’t say I am really happy about it because it means most of the things I like end up not fitting me at all. Anyway, what do you think of the outfit?

The Military Camo & Army Print Inspired Trend

The military, camo and army print trend has crept upon us in full swing right now. I wasn’t 100% sure that I liked it at first as I have always found the print to be quite masculine and very unfeminine. I started out with the khaki jacket with leather sleeves style (which you can see here) and as it turns out, I really loved that, so I’ve now opted into the full camo print jacket and I was suprised to say that I actually love it. It is pretty masculine, but if paired with a dark colour and other feminine silhouettes like heels, skin tight jeans and jewellery, it manages to make it work really well. Have you tried the camo trend yet? I spotted Kate Moss in a jacket, similar to mine below, last week and she looked amazing. Since she has worn the military trend, I can tell it’s going to take off in full force and we will be seeing the print everywhere soon! All of the pieces above (except for number 3) are from Topshop, so you can buy those by clicking here, while number 3 is from Pull & Bear. Also, the below images are a sneak preview of an outfit post to come! What do you think?

Autumn Haze

(Jumper – Exact, Leggings – Similar, Boots – Similar, Bag – Exact, Rings – Exact & Exact, Necklace – Exact) As it’s getting really cold now, I’ve started to layer a lot more. I wore a long sleeve top under this jumper and also a pair of plain leggings underneath the shiny ones and I was still fairly cold. I picked this jumper up while I was at the Bristol Fashion Week show on Friday at Topshop as I fell in love with it. I posted it on my Instagram while I was in the changing room too. I’m wearing a Topshop Ombre jumper and Scandi Triangle ring, Miss Selfridge Wet Look leggings, ASOS Cat ring, Urban Outfitters Elephant necklace, my River Island wedge boots and my Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Pixie bag in Coral. One thing I love about Autumn is the gorgeous sun shine you get through the buildings and trees at such an early time. Usually in summer it happens a lot later in the evening, but this was around 5pm and it turned out gorgeous! I love the haze and light spots that it creates on the photos, it’s a really cool effect. Anyway, what do you think of the outfit? Do you like it?

The Metallic Biker Jacket

(Jacket – Exact, Jeans – Exact, T-Shirt – Exact, Scarf – Similar, Shoes – Exact) I wore this outfit yesterday when I went to go and meet the lovely Mimi Noor for coffee, well water in my case, ha ha. Hopefully in a few months (or sooner) some of our plans will come to light and I will be able to share them with you! I’ve actually had this metallic biker jacket for quite a few months, but since it was warmer, I hadn’t got around to wearing it yet. I really love metallics though, so I think it’s great! I’m wearing a Topshop Metallic Biker Jacket, Studded Slippers and Floral Snood, my Koral Los Angeles Merlot Jeans and my Forever 21 Grey T-Shirt. Also, in a couple of hours I am headed to Bristol Fashion Week for the fashion show I mentioned not long ago. I’m excited to actually meet more fashion bloggers, especially Tara from The Style Rawr, she’s very sweet. I will be Tweeting and Instagramming from the show, so make sure you are following me @LornaRaindrops. Anyway, what do you think of the outfit?
