BVLGARI LVCEA Opaline Stainless Steel Watch Review
I’ve written about this BVLGARI LVCEA watch so many times that I’ve lost count. You may remember the most recent time I spoke about it was in this post, about my dream watches. I originally fell in love with this timepiece over a year ago when I had seen it in a store window as the pink crown caught my eye, but since then it’s been at the forefront of my mind and wasn’t something I could shake off, especially not since I was trying it on at any chance I got. I actually thought that owning this BVLGARI watch would just be a dream that never happened, but… it’s come true!
I don’t know if many of you know the jewellery store called Berry’s? Their heritage dates back to 1897 when they first established themselves as one of the North of England’s most distinguished retail jewellers, so they have been in this business for many years. Four generations later, you can now find Berry’s Jewellers in Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, York, Hull, and Windsor, so it’s definitely a company you should check out. I’m of course telling you about them because I finally managed to get my dream watch from them. They have a particular expertise in fine watches and diamonds, also representing the leading Swiss watch manufacturers and stock the worlds most exclusive brands. Since this BVLGARI LVCEA watch is both Swiss made and features a diamond, it made perfect sense to buy it from Berry’s.
Now, I have been keeping this beauty a secret since I received it last week, which is why you haven’t seen it on my social media at all yet. I wanted to showcase this watch in all its glory with perfect photos and a dedicated post, so that your first impressions are as amazing as mine. Adam and I shot these photos over a few days (I’ve been wearing it every day) and I wanted to incorporate flowers to play off the colours of the watch, as well as marble to add to the luxury feel it has. I’m definitely very proud of these pictures and since I wanted to do BVLGARI and Berry’s justice, I made sure I got these images just right.
Now getting to the actual watch, this is the BVLGARI LVCEA 33mm Stainless Steel Automatic Opaline Dial Watch. The whole LVCEA collection comes in various sizes, different metals, different faces, and different colours, but I wanted to choose something completely classic that would be timeless (excuse the pun!) and elegant enough to go with every single outfit that I wore. This fits the bill perfectly doesn’t it? I did of course love the mother of pearl face version with the diamond numerals, but the way the mother of pearl shines in the light was putting me off. Choosing this one with the Opaline dial was definitely the right choice for me and I couldn’t be happier.
As this BVLGARI LVCEA watch is automatic, it doesn’t need a battery as it works on its own through movement. When you wear the watch, the movement makes the watch work, but you can also give the crown a little wind here and there to keep it ticking over if you don’t plan on wearing it one day (it lasts up to 40 hours on its own). I’ve shown you the back of the watch in these photos because it’s simply stunning. Normal battery operated watches don’t have a see through back so you can’t see the insides, but Swiss made automatic watches do and you get to see all of the cogs and components that make the watch work, as well as the rotor to keep them going when it detects the movement. Just this alone was enough to sell me on an automatic watch. How cool is that?
The actual watch itself is made from stainless steel and the bracelet has a double clasp to it. The dial is silver with the BVLGARI logo at the top, the signature Opaline stripes, a date box and roman numerals at 12 and 6. The bezel matches the watch all over as it’s stainless steel as well, but where the real beauty is – is on the crown. It’s a gorgeous, deep pink shade, which is made from a pink cabochon-cut stone, set with a diamond inside, which you can see on a close up. This intense vibrancy of pink against the silver is what really drew me to the watch in the first place as it’s modern and pretty, but classic and elegant. I am beyond in love with this timepiece, I’m finding it hard to express just how perfect it is in words.
As you can see it comes in a gorgeous black leather box which sits inside a laid cardboard box with embossing, just in case you were wondering on the packaging. It’s every bit as fancy as the watch itself. Plus, as I got it from Berry’s, I know I am in safe hands if I ever need any servicing or repairs. I am hoping I never will need any repairs at all, but since this is a watch for life and one that will be with me for decades, I’m guessing it might.
This is my very first luxury watch and given how much I love watches, you’d think I would have owned one a lot sooner, but I wanted to get it right and waiting for my most coveted BVLGARI LVCEA watch was definitely the right thing to do. I can guarantee you will be seeing this in every outfit post (shot from this week onward) of mine to come! That’s how in love I am. It’s now an extension of me. What do you think of my watch? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Do any of you own a Swiss made automatic watch as well? You can check out all of the watches on Berry’s by clicking here.
