Mom Jeans And Liya

wearing mom jeans vintage fashionable

Citizens of Humanity Liya Jeans

I can’t believe how fast everything is going these days! We are already at the 5th of April and it doesn’t feel that long ago that it was Valentine’s Day or Christmas. It’s crazy! These are the photos that we shot when it was pouring with rain and I mentioned that we got really wet, but it managed to stop for a little while for us to get a few good shots of my outfit thankfully. English weather is so unpredictable!

Speaking of unpredictable, you might know from my social media yesterday that my MacBook broke. I was so sad! I had my schedule down for a whole days work and it completely broke, but it was almost 6 years old so it has been running on borrowed time. It meant that I had to go out and buy a new one though so now my credit card is maxed out at the moment, eek! Since I have a new retina screen now, I’m trying to optimise my photos for everyone else who reads in retina as well, but I want to make sure it shows up clear for those who aren’t retina ready, so if you could comment and let me know what screen you have and if the photos are blurry or crisp, that would be absolutely amazing please!

Now getting to my outfit, I’ve loved the look of the vintage mom jeans trend for quite some time now and thought that I wanted to give it a go but wasn’t sure which pair to pick. I stuck with my love for Citizens of Humanity and chose their new Liya Jeans in Torn and I am in love with them! I’ve got two washes of these, but I think these are ideal for the warmer weather and they are so comfy! I don’t normally like wearing any other fits apart from skinny as they are most flattering to my shape, but these are gorgeous! I wanted to keep everything else simple so I paired these mom jeans with my Oasis The Perfect Crew, my new Tamara Mellon Nude Heels and my trusty Chloe Mini Drew Bag in Motty Grey. As you know I am obsessed with neutrals lately and keeping looks classic and clean, so I think experimenting with fits of jeans helps keep my looks interesting. I’m definitely going to be wearing mom jeans a lot more! What do you think of my outfit? Please do comment and tell me, but excuse my frizzy hair!

I quite like the “mom jeans” look and I’m glad they’ve made a bit of a comeback. Great outfit! I’ve seen some vintage Levi’s with a similar look. They’re great as well.

Thank you! Yeah, I love the look of Levi’s too in the mom jeans style outfits! They can look really fashionable.

These look so comfy and chic!! I love my skinnies but the looser fitting styles have definitely been growing on me over the last few seasons… <3

Lorna I’m just viewing your blog from my phone, the pictures are very clear. I’m sorry to hear your computer died… I’m looking at replacing mine by the summer, however; I’m not a laptop girl… xoxo

Your outfit is really cute, I’m happy you were able to get some pictures taken before the rain started again ♡

I’d not even heard of retina before reading this entry – which rather tends me towards the belief that I don’t have it! 😉 All I do know, with regards to picture quality, is that your photos always look better on my tablet compared to on my laptop – though that’s more to do with richer colour quality than any difference in clarity. Not to worry, I’ve never been an early adopter of any new technology. LOL 😀

I’m a bit mixed about this outfit. I very much like the gorgeous top and I think the shoes are really nice too – but I’m feeling a bit indifferent towards the jeans. This is still a lovely set of photos though. I always appreciate seeing you experiment with different looks – and I certainly can’t rule out being won over by those jeans in future appearances. So I’m still very much giving a big thumbs up on this entry. 🙂

    • April 5, 2016 / 11:30 pm

I’m glad the photos are clear for you! Most tablets these days have a retina screen and a lot of desktop computers do, but Apple are mostly known for retina screens now as they barely seem to make anything without one these days lol!

No worries on being mixed about the jeans, Adam doesn’t like them at all. He thinks they look terrible from behind and are baggy. He only seems to like skinny jeans lol! He’s never a fan of anything a bit slouchy. I love them though 😀

Well extra credit to Adam for taking such a nice set of photos of you in an outfit that he doesn’t like as much as usual 🙂 He always does a terrific job.

It’s interesting how tastes vary from person to person, I think. 🙂

        • April 6, 2016 / 1:15 am

He has no choice! Ha ha 😀 But yeah, it’s definitely interesting 🙂

I have to honestly say, Lorna, that in my narrow-minded love for your shape these jeans do not suit you at all…
    Sorry for being so blunt!
And again I repeat: it’s the jeans… (as much as I love that piece of clothing).

    • April 5, 2016 / 11:34 pm

Like I said to Steven, you aren’t the only one. I don’t think guys like slouchier or looser fitting jeans on women, as they hide the ‘womanly figure’ and don’t enhance the butt like skinny jeans do, but I’m sure most of us women love them as they are comfortable and something different. Skinny gets boring sometimes when you live in it lol! But no worries, I’m not offended at all. We all have our own tastes!

I understand the commoditty of using less tight garments. And some really enhance the female figure. No doubt about that.
In this case, I feel it’s the outfit for a retro-night,not for a fashion example. It’s Salt’n Peppa, not Taylor Swift.
I remember when these jeans made my own pants turn… but now?

        • April 6, 2016 / 12:12 am

You’d be surprised actually how fashionable jeans like this can be, some ladies look amazing in their mom jeans over the last year or less, just depends how they are styled. No worries!

Not suprsised at all. I know exactly what you mean…
I’m just being so bold as to judge your appearance which, even with these jeans, is admirable.
Keep up the good work and your unbeatable spirit!!
As we say in Spain: Un beso, guapa.

            • April 6, 2016 / 12:29 am

Yeah, we each have our own style and likes/dislikes, which is why I love blogging and fashion so much. I appreciate everyone’s input, negative or positive! What does Un beso, guapa mean?

I love your outfit, very nicely put together. I want some Mom jeans for myself, I’m so tired of doing the skinny jean dance. I love your bag as well, very classy.

Hah, my husband has a fit when I wear slouchy jeans, but they are so much more comfortable. I actually do think these are a good fit for you. I’ve seen some that were basically drowning their victims, but these FIT you! And the heels really help to add a more feminine touch. So, go you!

I love this look on you Lorna and your new hairdo looks amazing! The jeans are really chic and flattering, and really suit you. I love the way you’ve been styling neutral colours lately and creating timeless, classic looks. I’m glad you were able to capture these images, despite the weather being uncooperative!

They’re definitely different than the usual skinny jeans you wear, but I love the look of these with the heels too! And sometimes changing cuts is also good 😉
