Our Visit To A Rescue Reindeer Farm

A Truly Unforgettable Reindeer Experience I don’t even know where to start with this blog post as it was one of the most amazing experiences! This year, I had said that I didn’t want any gifts for Christmas and instead wanted something like an experience and a memory as that means so much more to me – and that’s what I got. Adam had given me one of the coolest surprises that I could think of! He knows how much I love animals (he does too) and reindeer are extremely special to me, so he organised a trip to see rescued reindeer at a farm and experience caring for them and being with them. Now before I go into the experience, I need to put a disclaimer as I know there can be some issues and thoughts regarding wild animals and their well-being. I’m completely against animal cruelty in every way, I love them more than humans, and these reindeer are very well looked after. I wanted to make a point of saying that they are rescued from being culled, so Andrew and his wife specifically adopt reindeer that weren’t considered as good as others for reproducing in the wild and were going to be culled. Thinking about what happens to them makes me feel so sad, so I’m thankful to people like Riverways Farm for adopting them and giving them a brand new life. They have 14 in total so they live in their heard as they would in the wild, and they have huge amounts of space and different fields. The farm even adopts goats and has so…

Happy Christmas From Lorna Reindeer

Merry Christmas Everyone! It’s Christmas Eve! How did that happen? This week leading up to Christmas has been really fun though. I’ve spent the entire week with Adam (he’s back home with family now) and we’ve done a lot of cool things – one of which I will be sharing with you in my next post after Christmas. Although if you follow me on Instagram (@LornaRaindrops), you can see a preview in my IG stories on my account! That’s if you can’t wait until the 28th! I know the previous years I’ve done Christmas costumes (like Mrs. Claus and an Elf), but this year I decided not to as it’s much too cold and I was trying to limit stress. Instead, I went for something festive and cute! I got these reindeer antlers on a headband from Accessorize a couple of weeks ago in preparation, they are sold out now unfortunately, but they’re adorable! They’re glittery and have little bells on the holly inside the ears. So cute! Now getting to the star of the show, this Christmas jumper! I asked you on IG in a poll if you wanted to see me style it and most of you said yes! It’s an Oasis Fairisle Pink Jumper that I picked up on ASOS and it’s gorgeous! You don’t often see neon pink jumpers with fairisle as they’re always in the Christmas colours, so I love this one! A cashier woman at a shop said she loved it on me too and thought the pink was pretty. It sold out on ASOS within 2 days and now they have a couple…

Joules Coast Waterproof Jacket With Hunter Refined Chelsea Boots

Joules Coast Waterproof Jacket With Hunter Refined Chelsea Boots I almost forgot about these photos! They were actually taken back in April/May when we went to Farrington Farm and they got put in a folder to post the next month and then forgotten about as other outfit posts got in the way. Whenever I go to the farm though or run some errands and it’s raining, this is usually the type of look that I go for (or this one) as ankle wellies and a rain coat have sort of become my staple here in England. It’s a little too cold for this outfit now though since the temperatures have dramatically dropped lately, but it’s definitely become a signature of mine. So what was I wearing? This is my Joules Coast Waterproof Jacket in Berry that I purchased from the brand over a year ago. This was actually my very first purchase from Joules and I fell in love with them since then, actually wearing their pieces on a weekly basis! This jacket has done me well though, it’s still in perfect condition (I own the red one too) and has been so useful. I can’t get enough of it, especially the beautiful berry colour. I paired it with a simple H&M Grey Jumper and my James Jeans Skinny Jeans in Black as they make the jacket pop really well and are perfect for my footwear choice, which is of course the Hunter Refined Ankle Chelsea Boots in Slate Grey. My Hunter Boots were the very first pair of ankle wellies that I got actually. I got them back in…

Rockfish Samba Red Gloss Rain Boots Outfit + WIN A PAIR!

Rockfish Original Tall Gloss Samba Red Wellies Outfit How amazing are these rain boots? It’s literally no secret that I adore wellies. Living in England means I’m reaching for them on a weekly basis, if not daily sometimes! One pair that I never had though was bright red, and despite numerous people telling me I needed them, they still hadn’t made it to my collection, until now! These are the Rockfish Original Tall Gloss Samba Red Wellies and they’re stunning! I’ve owned a pair of Rockfish wellies before in the metallic fuchsia pink (see here), and I knew how comfortable they were, so when I needed to get a staple and classic like primary red, I just knew it was going to be these instead of Hunter. As much as I love Hunter, I find their prices are just a little too steep and the comfort isn’t even on par with Rockfish. These feel like walking on sponge – they’re so soft and snug, they’re actually a joy to wear and don’t feel cumbersome. As soon as these rain boots arrived, I knew I wanted to take them out for a spin, so on the weekend Adam and I went for a little country walk down to the stream. You might remember me splashing in this stream from before (see here) as it’s one of my favourite places to go. I decided to keep my outfit simple with some black skinny jeans and a striped jumper from Joules, as well as a matching red rain coat, also from Joules, so I was all uniform. There’s nothing more fun than matching…

Hunter Rain Boots Starcloud Wellies in Neptune Glitter Review

Hunter Rain Boots Original Tall Starcloud Wellies in Neptune Ok, so I don’t even know where to begin with these, but I will try! Have you ever dreamed up your favourite pair of shoes or a bag that you wished would be released as it was your ultimate, must have piece? Then you got annoyed trying to find something that comes close to your vision and it just doesn’t exist? Well that’s kind of what happens to me. I always want something that doesn’t exist and then not long after, it becomes a trend and is available (much like my love of velvet, basket bags and coral). Talk about Truman Show, right? Well my dream rain boots had always been a sapphire shade with glitter! In fact, it was only a couple of months ago that I was talking to my friend about my dream pair of Hunter wellies and they were a sapphire gloss blue, filled with glitter, so they reminded me of the galaxy, but subtle enough to be worn without being flashy… The Starcloud Collection About 2 weeks ago, I was on the Hunter Boots website and what was brand new in? These! I did a double take on them thinking they surely couldn’t have read my mind and released wellies that I had been dreaming of? But they did! Hunter brought out a galaxy inspired collection called Starcloud and they actually have 3 different colours available (see below) and a style with buckles! I saw this particular rain boot first, the Original Tall Starcloud in Neptune, but I was also gravitating towards the green as they…

Joules Go Lightly Waterproof Packaway Parka Outfit

An Outfit For The Summer Rain Since it’s been raining a lot of the time, pretty much on and off for three weeks straight now, this has been one of my go to outfits. I tend not to take many photos of my outfits in the rain (unless I have new wellies) as it’s usually the same thing over and over, however it was getting to the point that Adam and I hadn’t shot any new photos in a couple of weeks, which just wouldn’t do. Since this is a look I have been wearing so much of, I thought why not share it with you? You all come here to see what what I’m wearing and if a rain outfit is what I’ve been wearing, then that’s what I will show you. So be prepared, this one is nothing special, more of a casual necessity, but if you’re in the UK, you might find inspiration with it. So what was I wearing? I chose the base as a simple t-shirt and jeans, opting for my Hudson Barbara Skinny Jeans in Hideaway with my H&M White Tee. Since it’s warmer out and doesn’t require a lot of layers, I’m living in my Joules Go Lightly Packaway Parka in Pool Blue Spot here, which I bought quite a few months ago in the store when it was new in. I saw the print on it and thought it was just gorgeous! So much fun to brighten up a wet and dull day. Now for my footwear, obviously wellies are needed, but it’s too hot to wear my full length ones and…

Joules Wellibob Ankle Rain Boots in Dog Print Review

As it’s my birthday next week, one of my friends (the same friend who bought me the Hunter Coral Wellies last time) wanted to buy me a present and one of the items I had been eyeing up for a while was a pair of the Joules Wellibobs. I’ve been a fan of the Chelsea ankle boot wellington since last year as they’re so easy to wear for running errands. They’re not bulky or cumbersome in any way, and they’re cute! Since I was allowed to have these Wellibobs in Dog Print early (just as well, it’s been raining every day!), I wanted to share a review with you and help any of you out that are looking to buy a pair of ankle wellingtons. Joules Wellibob Ankle Rainboots Rating: Comfort – 8/10 Style/Print – 9/10 Size – 9/10 Ease of wearing – 10/10 Waterproof Protection – 9/10 Price – 10/10 Buy Joules Wellibobs at Amazon here & Debenhams here Comfort – I gave these an 8/10 purely because they’re incredibly soft, roomy, and spongy on your feet, so they’re very comfortable to walk in, and I would have given them a 10, however when you don’t wear socks that are long enough to cover your ankles, the rubber on the elastic inserts rubs against your ankles and creates blisters. I found that out on Saturday when I wore them around town, but luckily I took longer socks with me. They will be fine for quick use with low cut socks, but if you’re planning on wearing them for a longer period of time, longer socks are needed to prevent…

April Showers – 15 Fashionable Rainwear Essentials

I figured since April is on its way and it brings April Showers (although March is more filled with rain everyday so far!), it would be good to do a blog post on some fashionable and essential rainwear for the season. Living in England means I pretty much have to live in waterproof clothing and take an umbrella with me all of the time, unless it’s the middle of summer (but even that’s risky to go sans an umbrella) so I need multiple choices and options that look nice. I never used to think that waterproof clothing was pretty or fashionable though, but all of that has changed over the last couple of years and there’s some of the cutest pieces around, which is why I have only recently gotten lots of it! Wellies come in an array of colours and styles, rain macs are printed and brightly coloured, and umbrellas are really pretty to look at. With all of that in mind, I am sharing with you 15 of my favourite rainwear items out at the moment which are fashionable, fun, and trendy at the same time. I know, who would have thought it, right? Joules Coast Waterproof Jacket in Berry This raincoat is one of my favourites at the moment! I bought it in Joules a while ago and I wore it a couple of days ago. The way the water just stays in globs on the fabric is incredible! You can roll balls of water around on it, then it drops off and there’s no trace of any water left behind! I’m fascinated by that. It actually…
