Some Updates Via My Instagram @LornaRaindrops

The clocks just went back last night for daylight savings time and this always leads me to so much confusion! I’m always left wondering what the actual real time is and getting hungry at the wrong current times, it’s a nightmare lol! Does anyone else dislike it when the clocks change? Anyway, I’ve been taking some really pretty photos of scenery lately while being outside and as Autumn is so gorgeous, I had to share the shots with you! Of course I have also included some sneak peek outfit previews of ones I haven’t yet posted and more, so I would love to know which one you like most and I will post it next! I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. I’ve been looking after my mum for the past 10 days as she’s been really ill, but she’s getting better daily and the anti-biotics are definitely working which is a relief, no more emergency doctors visits! I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who wished her well on Instagram and were asking if she had got better, that’s incredibly kind of you and very supportive, it means a lot to me. I did take a few hours off yesterday though to recuperate and I went out to lunch with my dad and brother. I had a lovely day, despite it being freezing and me wearing a Christmas jumper when nobody else was, I really enjoyed it! Ha ha! So here are some of my latest Instagram snaps for you to see! I hope you will follow me on Instagram too as you…

Welcome Autumn!

As a tradition here on Raindrops of Sapphire, I always make a post welcoming Autumn as it’s the most beautiful time of year for me. Not just because it means I get to layer and wear various clothes without being ‘too’ cold, but because of the pretty scenery. When I see the leaves turning that golden shade of orange and intense warm red, it makes me smile from the inside out. I never get tired of the gorgeous Autumn leaves as they are just so beautiful to me. They liven up my outfit shoots and inject a strength of colour that other seasons just don’t and of course they brighten up my day. So, as it is now Autumn and the leaves are turning everywhere, I wanted to take this opportunity to add a few updates for you about what’s to come in the near future for me! I feel like this is a shared journey of mine with all of you as without you there to support me, it wouldn’t be possible. So thank you! – Ok first up, I am going to be doing a lot more collaborations and sponsorships in a really fun and exciting way! I’ve just signed to be part of a sponsorship with a new company and I can’t wait to share that with you, as well as having some other really cool projects lined up that I can’t talk about at the moment, but they are extremely exciting and with some amazingly popular stores! So there are many fun things coming! One of them does include a very exciting denim collaboration too! –…

3 Quick & Easy Home Made Healthy Snacks

So as you know, a while back in May I made a post about appreciating my body and changing my life. For those of you who missed it, you might want to check it out so that this post makes sense to you. Since a lot of you seemed to really like that article about how I was making a lot of health changes and really feeling positive about it, giving me energy and a much happier outlook on life, I thought it was about time that I shared some of my favourite healthy snacks with you. These are some of the easiest and quickest food options for me as I am pretty lazy when it comes to food. I don’t enjoy cooking, neither can I actually cook (without ruining everything anyway), I’m more into seasoning and making sure things are flavoured as best as can be. So, what you can definitely be assured about for this is that each of these little recipes take less than 5 minutes each! Just the way I like it!

Style Fruits Brilliantly British Fashion Blogger Cards

I’m very excited to finally be able to announce a little project that I was a part of and love! I was asked by Style Fruits to be a part of their Brilliantly British: Fashion Bloggers 2014 card decks and they turned out fantastic! I’m very proud to be British and my blog is my life, so when they asked me to be a part of the project because they loved Raindrops of Sapphire, I jumped at the chance! Aren’t the cards really cool? I’m featured among numerous other British fashion bloggers and the game is really fun too! Every card features the blog logo and a screenshot of a recent outfit post from each individual blogger. The URL is also provided, so you can check out each blog in more detail. In the top left-hand corner of each card is a symbol (headphone, nail polish, shoe, shorts, sunglasses, teacup, umbrella or vest), which you’ll need for playing Quartet. At the bottom of each card are five different categories: blog age (months), average cups of tea per day, average monthly nail colour changes, height of highest heels (cm), and number of umbrellas owned for each blogger for Top Trumps! My umbrellas are a lot, ha ha! You can check them out online and you can also download and print your own cards so you can play along too! They also have various contests in which you can win a professionally printed set just like mine here. There’s also a really cool opportunity which I’m happy to share with you too! Style Fruits are now looking for other fashion bloggers to…

Standing Up For Myself & Well Being

I did originally write this post out and was happy with the result, but as you know the server went down and it meant that I lost a lot of work, including this post, so I’m trying to remember everything I wrote, but go off of how I am feeling right now as well. Since I treat this blog sort of like an online diary and a place that’s mine to express everything I need to, I wanted to make this post as I’m hoping that it might inspire you or help you in some way too. Recently over the past few months, I have found myself in some really stressful and exhausting situations, through no fault of my own actually, but ones that I have been involved in. I noticed that during these really hard and difficult times my mood changes immensely and I don’t function like I should, losing inspiration and enthusiasm because the weight of the situation is bearing down on me. I’ve begun to understand that no matter how hard you try to get on in life, things will always be around the corner unexpectedly to give you a knock back to keep the balance, but how you deal with these issues is important. I’m actually lucky to have understood and figured out what I know now at such a young age, people a lot older than me are still trying to figure things out and deal with these types of burdens on a day to day basis, but what I have learned is that it’s ok to say no. I can’t stress this enough actually…

Eek, I’m Turning 26!

Turning 26. It’s a pretty big milestone for me, one that I had reservations and was somewhat apprehensive about for quite some time, almost to the point of dread actually. I felt like 25 was mid range and once you go past it, you are very close to 30, so having that 26th birthday (on the 3rd of August) just tips you past that point of being near 20. But, then I realised that age is literally just a number, I’m physically and mentally absolutely no different to what I was the day before when I was 25. It is nothing but a number and it really doesn’t make much of a difference on your life, in fact, as it stands, I seem to be getting better with age. I feel like 2014 has been a huge year for me in terms of growing as a person, being more at ease with myself, accepting who I am and making positive changes to my life. I feel like I have matured immensely. I’ve definitely become more my own person, actually enjoying life and I think this can only get better as I get older, so rather than fearing that imaginary mental block that people put on birthdays, I’m embracing them and am actually excited to get older and see what life brings. So far it’s been nothing but surprises, a lot were bad and quite a few were good, but what is important to me as I get older is how I learn to deal with things instead. I used to stress out about the littlest things, have anxiety about everything…

Some Quick Instagram Snaps From London

As I explained in my previous post that I made on Monday, I took a holiday break in London with my boyfriend. We stayed in The Cumberland Hotel which is literally just off of Oxford Street and right next to all of the shops. Selfridges was within a 5 minute walking distance and the majority of the other shops were close too, which was amazing. It’s also located right next to Hyde Park, so I definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to see London! It’s worth the money as it’s gorgeous inside too! We did lots and lots of shopping, going in Selfridges, Zara, French Connection, Victoria Secret, Cambridge Satchel, Butler & Wilson, Chanel, Jimmy Choo and loads more! I’ve got quite a few things that I ended up buying, including 6 new bras from Victoria Secret which I have been living in, a new Cambridge Satchel in yellow which is an early birthday present to myself and a grey glitter one from my boyfriend, but I can’t have it yet. Both were in the sale too! I got a top from French Connection which had been reduced £11.50, some new Butler & Wilson jewellery, some chocolates from Liberty, some new Pixi lip balms which I adore, a linen dungaree piece and spotted tee from Zara and I think that’s it! I will be making a purchases post for you soon though so you can see everything. But anyway, here are the snaps that I took from London for Instagram (@LornaRaindrops) from my iPhone as I never took the real camera. Enjoy!

Sky Rainforest Rescue x Lorna Burford

(Coat – Exact, Shorts – Exact, Top – Exact) This is a project that I have been working on with Sky Rainforest Rescue in order to raise awareness and help save the rainforest. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the breakfast in London a few weeks ago with Lily Cole as I was too busy, but I’m really happy to say that being part of this amazing campaign with the gorgeous model, Lily Cole, and footballer, Gary Neville, means a lot to me. Being a country girl, you already know that wildlife and animals are incredibly important to me, so anything I can do in order to help preserve the trees and save the animals homes is definitely close to my heart. Lily Cole actually designed a collaboration with Veja, creating a few sneakers/trainers with wildlife print in a nature friendly way. The shoes are made from rubber that was rubber tapped from trees, causing no harm to the enviroment or to the trees and they also feature organic cotton. I have a pair which I will be sharing with you soon actually, but you should definitely check out the collection online by clicking here. If you want to know more about the coat that I’m wearing too, it’s by Wondaland and I thought the lining inside with the tropical birds was perfect! Isn’t it beautiful? I love it! Anyway, the idea behind this campaign was that Sky Rainforest Rescue created an Instagram profile and each tile was made up of all different parts of a tree, some of them being videos and others being photos. I have a part…
