Surprise! I Flew To Croatia!

Hello From Dubrovnik, Croatia! I told you guys the next blog post would be a big surprise! Those of you who follow me on Instagram, already know this, but to those of you who are just readers of my blog, did you expect that? Ha ha! You all know that I have had a fear of flying, ever since I was little, so I had never got on a plane at all, until Sunday, when I took my very first flight, alone. I’m in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and it’s absolutely incredible here! The temperatures are extremely hot though, so I’ve been wearing my SPF 50, which is helping me not burn, but I absolutely love it! I’m going to break this up into sections so that I can share my first flight experience with you too, so carry on reading to find out more and check out my photo diary! Like I said up there, I had always been afraid of flying, my entire life. I was scared of my ears really hurting, the travel sickness, potentially getting a bleeding nose from pressure etc., but as it turned out, I didn’t have to worry about any of that! I prepared well and bought some EarPlanes ear plugs, to eliminate the pressure, and my gosh do they work! I never felt an ounce of any pressure in my ears once! I also took travel sickness medication, so I never got motion sickness either! Now you know me, I don’t really do anything alone, but there I was, heading to Bristol airport and taking my very first flight by myself. I went with…

My Invisalign Journey Review For Straight Teeth

My Invisalign Review at Aquae Sulis Dental with Dr. Rachael Hampton I have finally started my teeth straightening journey! I have spoken about it a few times over the last few months, and have wanted straight teeth since I was a teenager. I actually went to an orthodontist when I was about 13, but they wanted to remove two teeth, and I’d have been wearing the train track metal braces for at least two years. I decided not to go ahead with that as I didn’t want two healthy teeth pulled out. As I’ve gotten older though, I found my teeth were getting more crowded and I found out that’s because they continue to move over time, so it was time to finally get them straightened! I did a lot of research on Invisalign, I watched a tonne of YouTube videos, I googled everything I could. I made sure that I found the best place that I could, and that happened to be Dr. Rachael Hampton, at Aquae Sulis Dental, who in my opinion, is the best Invisalign orthodontist in Bath! I looked up her before and after photos on Instagram (click here to see those) and was beyond impressed with her work. I wanted a dentist that took their job as a passion, and creates art, and that’s what Rachael does, in order to get the most perfect teeth! Rachael was perfectly suited to me as she believes in promoting dentistry that adds to the teeth, and doesn’t take healthy tooth away, like veneers and crowns do. After researching her work and seeing how good she is with aligning,…

It’s 11 Years Today, Since I…

…Started Raindrops of Sapphire! I founded this fashion blog on the 10th March 2010 and I cannot believe that 11 years has gone by already. I shot these photos yesterday with my mum, and in all honesty, I had forgotten that it was my blog’s birthday today, but as it turns out, these photos actually ended up being perfect for this personal post. There’s something about them that embodies a more confident, powerful vibe that I’ve been feeling lately. I don’t know if it’s the trousers and heels combination, but I really love how it turned out. I will briefly tell you about the outfit at the bottom of this post, but first, I’ll share my thoughts at the moment with you! Where I’m at right now is definitely a good place, for the most part, but I also have my ups and downs. Like everyone around the whole world has felt this year, it’s been absolutely insane and crazy. None of us could have predicted that we would be in the midst of a global pandemic, and hardly any of us have been able to handle it with grace and positivity. It’s been extremely worrying, depressing, and quite frankly, life changing, especially for myself. I never thought that I’d be celebrating my blog’s 11th birthday this way, especially as the lockdowns have been on and off for a year now, but here we are. One thing that this has taught me is that I shouldn’t take everything for granted. Just the simple act of going out to eat lunch, see my family, and just simply going for a picnic…

The Small Things I Was Thankful For This Year

It’s the little things in life… 2020 has been incredibly tough for everyone, with everything that has been going on. And I know I touched on it briefly in another post, but it’s been one of the hardest years of my entire life. I’m always honest with you here, and I feel lately I haven’t opened up as much as I used to and connected with you, and that’s purely because I have been in a very vulnerable and unhappy place for some time. I don’t think I have ever cried as much in my entire life put together, as I have this year. It’s been one hell of a journey, but I’m finally starting to feel like I’m in a better place at the moment. With this in mind, I thought I would do some writing/sharing therapy here and explain a little bit about my year, and then focus on the positives of what’s kept me going this year, and I’m extremely thankful for. As you know, in January, Adam and I broke up after being together around 12 years and engaged. I had known him for almost half of my lifetime, and he’d been my best friend for that duration of time. Things didn’t work out in the end, and even though we decided to remain friends and work together, that didn’t happen and unfortunately he has moved on in a different direction. This is really sad as he’s important to me, and I can only hope things change in the future. Then there’s another guy, one that I have been friends with since late last year, from…

Photo Updates & A Look At My New Hair!

I love this first picture above! It’s my first Autumn photo that I have been able to get and I’m cherishing it! I’ve not been out of the house a huge amount at all, I’m probably going out 1-2 times per week, as I’m still cautious and there’s not much to do, so getting regular Autumn photos hasn’t been a big thing this year. It’s kind of sad actually as I always love this time of year, especially at the parks, so hopefully I can get some more content soon! Anyway, here are some photos that I’ve taken this month! Some of them have been shared to my Instagram already, and some haven’t! Plus, you also get a look now at my new haircut and blonde babylights/balayage that I had! If you’re not a follower of mine on social media, please tell me what you think of it! I’m in love! The long hair was just too much. I asked my mum to snap this photo of me when we went out to lunch a few days ago. I was wearing a look that I was so excited to put together! I love nothing more than a casual Autumn combination, and this is the perfect one! These are my new Saint Laurent West Harness Boots in Nut, and I couldn’t wait to wear them! Seriously! I ended up getting the last pair in 39.5 in the UK, as they’re being discontinued. I’m obsessed with them though! Do you like the outfit? I had my L’AGENCE jeans on with these and my LV Mini Palm Springs Backpack. This is a new…

A Weekend In Bristol

Just over a week ago, Adam and I headed to Bristol to do a weekend of photoshoots for Autumn, and we stayed in a hotel. We picked the Mercure Holland House Bristol in Redcliffe and it was actually really nice! We managed to get a lot of work done, multiple outfits, which I can’t wait to share with you, so it was incredibly productive! I thought I would do a round up of our stay in Bristol though in this blog post so that you can see what we got up to, a preview of a couple of outfits, and some general scenery photography. If you’re wondering about my outfit above, I might not be doing a blog post on it as I didn’t take enough photos as it was kind of spur of the moment, but I was wearing my new Commando Patent Burgundy Leggings (see here), with a Zara knitted jumper, my Brixton hat, my Topshop Snake Boots and an ASOS Snake Bag to match. It’s not something I would usually wear, but I loved how it looked when I put it together! What do you think of this outfit above? You can also see an outfit I wore on the first day when we got there, the knitted maxi skirt, as I shared it last week! We had a suite, which you can see in the photos, and it had a lounge area, a huge bed, a beautiful bathroom, and was actually really quiet with a beautiful view of the church and looking out over Bristol. We spent most of our time in the hotel in the…

The Anxiety Train & Confidence Building

It’s been a little while since I wrote a proper blog post on how I am feeling, what I’m up to, and how things are going in general, so I thought I would do that now. You might have noticed that my blog schedule has been a bit erratic for the last month or so, and usually I keep to a really tight posting regime, but things have just been a bit all over the place, especially with family and personal life, but that I wont share on the blog as it’s not directly related to myself. If you have followed me for a long time, you will know that I have spoken openly a lot about anxiety and how it’s been a big part of my life since I can remember. It used to be so crippling that I couldn’t even leave the house at points without having panic attacks and I couldn’t even speak to strangers, be in crowds, anything like that… it was a very dark place. I’ve worked hard on tackling that anxiety though to try and live a more ‘normal’ lifestyle over the years, and push myself outside of my comfort zone to try and achieve things I didn’t think I could. The past two months or so I have really been pushing myself out of my boundaries and trying to grow even more, gaining confidence. One thing I was able to do, which I never thought I would do, is travel alone. One of my best friends (who I have known online for 3 years) was getting married and this was my opportunity to…

An April Life Update

This month has been eventful so far! It’s taken me a while to put everything together and decide what I wanted to include, but I especially wanted to talk about this week just gone as it was so busy! I spent a few days in Birmingham, which I will talk about in the individual sections, but I attended the Shawn Mendes concert that I had been waiting for for a year, I visited Sea Life, explored some of Birmingham, I’ve been to Wales a bit before that etc. Things I recently watched are: the movie Focus (really good), and The Durrells is back on the TV for its final season! I absolutely love it! Also just completed Fleabag which is interesting. I watched a movie called Duck Butter and hated it, so I don’t recommend that. I’m listening to a band called Cigarettes After Sex as they have some really good music, so I recommend them for mellow tunes. Niall Horan’s new song with Julia Michaels called What A Time is beautiful, it’s on repeat! I think that’s about it at the moment for that. So on Tuesday 9th April 2019, I went to the Shawn Mendes The Tour concert at Arena Birmingham and it was one of the best nights of my life! Literally, SO AMAZING! I’ve been a Shawn fan for over 3 years and his music is my favourite, plus of course he’s extremely handsome, not gonna lie! I can’t wait to try and book tickets for the next tour. You can watch my highlight on my stories on Instagram for clips of the songs and me…
