A Shopping Break In Mayfair, London

So as you know, Adam and I swapped out our St. Ives holiday this year (twice due to bad weather) and went to London for a mini city break instead. We stayed in The Washington Mayfair hotel, purely for the location and the cheaper price compared to other hotels, and it was nice. Despite having a room next to the main road, making it noisy, it was a nice room and hotel in general. It was only a 7-10 minute walk from Mount Street and New Bond Street, which was exactly what we wanted as we love looking in all of the designer boutiques. We hit up Saint Laurent, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Celine, and more, enjoying all the new collections, and we also headed to Selfridges on the second day. So this is a little mini update and travel post, including all of my photos from London and new purchases! I of course couldn’t come home empty handed, could I? Ha ha. Beautiful views in Mayfair, this is on Mount Street where my favourite Celine boutique is! The Anthracite Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots that I fell in love with and am trying to save for! Two photos from inside Burberry on New Bond Street. It’s a much smaller boutique compared to the flagship on Regent Street, but that’s why I love it! I love the new decor inside. This is the scarf that Adam and I bought to share. It’s the oversized cashmere check in Mid Camel and it’s stunning! We were looking for a new scarf and after trying on lots of colours, we finally decided on this…

A Day Trip To London

London In Springtime & Some Updates If you follow me on Instagram (@LornaRaindrops) then you will know that I took a trip to London on Tuesday 17th with Adam for a very important reason. I’ve mentioned briefly in some posts that I’ve been waiting to see a specialist called Dr. Alan Hakim and his waiting list was extremely long due to his popularity in his field, so I waited patiently for the day to arrive, but I was also filled with nerves. The night before was just a bundle of anxiety and preparation for me, and then once we were actually on the train and travelling, I settled down a lot more. We had to go to the Hospital of St. Mary and Elizabeth for my appointment at 2pm, so we had a little time beforehand to walk around and take in the sights before getting a taxi. I don’t go to London that often and when I used to it was always for business trips and rushing around so I haven’t done a whole lot of exploring the architecture before. I only managed to take a couple of snaps as I was extremely preoccupied, but I think they turned out really pretty and I wanted to share them with you. Anyway, the trip was a complete success (in more ways than one) as I now finally have a diagnoses of what’s wrong with me and why I am suffering so many symptoms. It’s only taken 30 years! I plan on writing a big health blog post all about this on the 26th, so I need a few days to…

An Early Christmas In London

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was taking a few days off from work and blogging to have a break. Adam and I took a trip to London from Wednesday until today, to spend an early Christmas together since we don’t get to spend the actual day with each other. We stayed in The Cumberland Hotel which is just off of Oxford Street and we had two and a half days worth of shopping time and exploring the Christmas lights. We didn’t worry about seeing Big Ben, the London Eye or Buckingham Palace again, we have seen the sights numerous times, so this time we just concentrated on buying the things we wanted in the sales and enjoying Christmas a little early! I even got to meet Santa (yes, he was the real one!) in Selfridges which excited me! It took me back to being a kid again! We ate in the hotels Brasserie, Prezzo and Wagamama, as well as getting our usual snack pieces from Marks & Spencers. It was really nice exploring all of the shops and this time actually doing more shopping for Adam than myself. I only picked up a couple of things in Topshop, a jumper in the sale at Diesel and some chocolate from Liberty. Adam was lucky enough to find a pair of his Bottega Veneta moccasin shoes at half price in the boutique and pick up a jumper in Gap, among a couple of other things in other stores. It was great being able to check out J.Crew in person too! Overall, I had a really lovely time in London…

Some Quick Instagram Snaps From London

As I explained in my previous post that I made on Monday, I took a holiday break in London with my boyfriend. We stayed in The Cumberland Hotel which is literally just off of Oxford Street and right next to all of the shops. Selfridges was within a 5 minute walking distance and the majority of the other shops were close too, which was amazing. It’s also located right next to Hyde Park, so I definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to see London! It’s worth the money as it’s gorgeous inside too! We did lots and lots of shopping, going in Selfridges, Zara, French Connection, Victoria Secret, Cambridge Satchel, Butler & Wilson, Chanel, Jimmy Choo and loads more! I’ve got quite a few things that I ended up buying, including 6 new bras from Victoria Secret which I have been living in, a new Cambridge Satchel in yellow which is an early birthday present to myself and a grey glitter one from my boyfriend, but I can’t have it yet. Both were in the sale too! I got a top from French Connection which had been reduced £11.50, some new Butler & Wilson jewellery, some chocolates from Liberty, some new Pixi lip balms which I adore, a linen dungaree piece and spotted tee from Zara and I think that’s it! I will be making a purchases post for you soon though so you can see everything. But anyway, here are the snaps that I took from London for Instagram (@LornaRaindrops) from my iPhone as I never took the real camera. Enjoy!

Outfits, Sightseeing & More From London

As promised, here are the proper photos that we took with the camera (Nikon D7000) from our anniversary trip to London last weekend. Not all of them are completely clear as a lot were taken at night time so there wasn’t a lot of natural lighting, but the rest are perfectly fine! Adam and I set the timer on the camera for this shot above and had to be quick! I think it turned out really well actually and I love it! We don’t often have a lot of photos together as he’s camera shy and prefers to be behind the lens, but I’m going to treasure this one! Below are also some proper photos of my shopping bags from over the few days (you will see the Jimmy Choo boots soon, I promise) and next up on Sunday, I will be showing you the outfit I wore to travel back in and my Nica travel tote in more detail! I hope you enjoy these photos! I definitely had an amazing time and we are planning to go back again in a few months if we can save up enough! I’ve got photos of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye, Sloane Square Park, The Grosvenor Hotel, Carnaby Street and of course a few photos of my different outfits! I did already say in my previous post what was in these bags, but for those who missed it: I got 4 bras from Victoria’s Secret, 2 t-shirt bras and 2 sports bras, both of which I am super impressed with! I wish they did online shopping for the UK as I…

My 6 Year Anniversary London Holiday Via Instagram

So as you know, it was mine and Adam’s 6 year anniversary over the weekend and we took a short holiday to London to celebrate it. I hadn’t been away since last year when I went to Italy, so it was really nice to do something fun again! We stayed in The Grosvenor Hotel in Victoria for 2 nights and had a great time! We left early on Friday morning and arrived at the hotel around midday, where we checked in and then got ready to go out and explore. You can see my little Instagram photo diary below with the writing underneath each photo, explaining everything! We must have done so much walking, it was crazy. My whole body was hurting and despite being in a lot of pain a lot of the time, I had a wonderful time and would love to do it again some time! I hope you enjoy the photos! I will be posting my travelling home outfit and more in the next set of posts!

London To Paris, Through Switzerland To Florence

I have been waiting to share my little European adventure with you for a while, but I had to wait until it was all booked and confirmed. Now that I can share it with you, I am off to Italy! Firenze in Florence to be exact, however because I can’t fly due to medical reasons, my boyfriend and I are taking the trains. First we will be heading to London, to catch the Eurostar to Paris, then in Paris we will get onto the overnight sleeping train to Florence. The sleeper train goes through all of the Swiss alps, which will be beautiful! It’s going to be a really long amount of travel there and back, however let me tell you the reason why I am going. Luisaviaroma invited me to their Firenze4Ever bloggers event! Those of you who follow The Blonde Salad or Song of Style etc will know that it’s a really big bloggers event that happens twice a year, over the course of a weekend, to style the new seasons clothes and meet all of the other bloggers. I have been invited a few times before, but unfortunately wasn’t able to attend, however this time I am definitely going and I can’t wait! It will be my first time out of the country (other than Wales) and I couldn’t be looking more forward to it, I am nervous, but definitely excited! We wont get to stop in Paris long, only a few hours before changing trains, but I have plans for Paris towards the end of the year which I will fill you in on a little…
