As it’s now officially spring, it makes me smile because I know that summer is just right around the corner! Despite there being snow and sub zero temperatures across the country at the moment, summer is my favourite time of the year and each time I look back into my memories, they are always filled with smiles and happiness. There is something about waking up in the morning and seeing a clear blue sky and hearing the birds singing, it’s so infectious. The summer always reminds me of denim cut offs, which are kind of a staple of mine during the hot season, little sandals and flip flops, like these Havaianas sandals in the collage, little cami/vest tops, sunglasses, hats and of course picnics on the beach or at the park with a towel to sit on. I honestly can’t wait for summer and I’m definitely going to be getting some Havaianas, I’ve had a lot of fun working on this post with them!
One thing I have noticed that I do a lot is save random inspiring photos to my desktop, which usually clutters it up, but it’s worth it as I can get so much inspiration from the photos. What I thought would be a good idea and something that I haven’t done before, is to share some of my favourite pictures with you! I’m always on Pinterest (click here to follow) and Instagram (@LornaRaindrops) pinning and liking photos which have really caught my eye, and these are some of them. Do you do the same thing as me?
I collaborated with Monsoon and Accessorize to put together a collage involving pieces that I think are essential for keeping yourself warm and cosy during this time of year. I know everyone is thinking about party dresses and what to wear to their events, but I sometimes prefer to opt for knitted winter dresses, snuggly pyjamas, warm slippers and comfortable knitwear! I selected a few of my favourite pieces from the sites, which I think are a must have right now. I did a cosy day at home post earlier in the year where I wore a big jumper, leggings and slippers and I personally think nothing beats snuggling up on the sofa and watching some old movies that you love while the rain pours down outside. What are your essentials this time of year?
Recently, due to the influx of constant heavy rain and getting my shoes and ankles dirty from splashes, I have been considering getting a pair of winter shoes/wellies. I don’t exactly find them to be the most stylish option, but I know that you can get some really gorgeous Hunter Wellies in some great prints! I was thinking of how to make a more classic pair of black wellies fashionable though and this is what I came up with. I chose black because it’s the most versatile/quiet colour and pairing these with black skinnies makes them stand out even less. Burgundy and mustard are my two favourite colours for Autumn/Winter as well so I think dressing the black up with pops of colour from the hip upwards really makes your torso the focal point, so the wellies don’t become too obvious. This is how I would wear them, if I decide to get a pair! I just know that it’s getting somewhat annoying having to avoid puddles and the dirty splashes all the time! I usually dress a little differently in the rain (as you can see here), but I would definitely feel comfortable in a look like this! What do you think of the outfit?
My family and I don’t celebrate Halloween due to the fact of what it represents, however I love the way the Americans celebrate the holiday as they don’t often do it with spooky and scary decorations. Even though I’m not going to a Halloween party or hosting one myself, I thought it would be fun to create a look that I would love to wear. As I adore cats, I’ve always wanted to be cat woman, so I’ve put together a sexy cat inspired look. I really love how this turned out, especially as it’s not scary, it’s just a regular outfit with a cat mask. I think it’s suitable for any themed costume party, not just Halloween. What do you think of it? And what are you planning on going to any parties dressed as? Since I love this outfit so much, I might actually go out and buy some cat ears if I can find some! To match my Citizens of Humanity jeans and my Topshop black heels!
I have collaborated with Debenhams to create two looks that I think are perfect for Autumn! Debenhams have just launched new lines of Autumn coats and dresses, so doing this post was a lot of fun! The first outfit I created (above) is definitely suitable for day time and it also has a classy feel to it with the navy faux fur collar coat and the Miss KG Arctic booties. I think the look is kept fun with the wine coloured skinny jeans, cute gemstone rings and the colour block bag. This is definitely something I would wear myself and it’s an outfit that I think is pretty much an essential for the cold Autumn day time! It reminds me a lot of this outfit I wore previously. The next look below is for the night time, particularly if you have a party to go to! I know it’s not a very warm outfit, but if you are indoors I think it will be fine! I kept it quite festive with the beautiful gothic lace dress in red, but I also added some fun elements with the hints of leopard in the Dune heels and clutch. I really love this outfit too and would definitely wear it out for an evening. I also kept it colour coordinated with the bracelets by choosing red, gold and black with elements of leopard print in those too. All of these items are available on the Debenhams website, but which outfit do you like the most? Comment and let me know!
The military, camo and army print trend has crept upon us in full swing right now. I wasn’t 100% sure that I liked it at first as I have always found the print to be quite masculine and very unfeminine. I started out with the khaki jacket with leather sleeves style (which you can see here) and as it turns out, I really loved that, so I’ve now opted into the full camo print jacket and I was suprised to say that I actually love it. It is pretty masculine, but if paired with a dark colour and other feminine silhouettes like heels, skin tight jeans and jewellery, it manages to make it work really well. Have you tried the camo trend yet? I spotted Kate Moss in a jacket, similar to mine below, last week and she looked amazing. Since she has worn the military trend, I can tell it’s going to take off in full force and we will be seeing the print everywhere soon! All of the pieces above (except for number 3) are from Topshop, so you can buy those by clicking here, while number 3 is from Pull & Bear. Also, the below images are a sneak preview of an outfit post to come! What do you think?
Here is the 14th installment of my LOOKBOOK.nu Inspiration posts. I haven’t posted one of these in a long time because I have had some other posts to do of my own, but I have been saving a tonne of outfit photos from people on LOOKBOOK.nu for a while. They end up cluttering up my desktop! These are some of my favourites over the past few months. I absolutely love the use of colour and I enjoy looking at other peoples outfits so much! It’s interesting seeing everyone’s personal style! You can also follow me on LOOKBOOK.nu by clicking here. (Follow me on Twitter, Bloglovin and Facebook)
