My Own Relationship Advice

Adam and I just celebrated our 9 year anniversary on the 27th April, and it’s crazy to think that we have been together so long. Next year is the decade, the big 10 years, and while it feels like the time has gone incredibly fast since my timeline is often measured by events, at the same time, mentally I feel like I have known him forever and I can’t even remember my life without him. There’s something so special about that connection when you find it with another person, it feels truly like you found the other half of you. I just want to put out there firstly that I’m not making this blog post with intention of rubbing my relationship in anyone’s face, neither am I gloating, and neither am I being inconsiderate to others who haven’t found their partner yet. I am making this blog post purely out of what’s in my heart at this current moment and with advice on what’s made mine and Adam’s relationship work so well. Everyone is different, everyone has their own baggage, and everyone thinks differently, but for me, I’ve noticed a lot of things which have contributed positively towards a happy relationship and I want to share that. I’m in no way at a veteran level, but I feel like 9 years is an extremely long time too. Honesty & Communication Ever since I was little, I’ve always had the inability to lie. I have too much of a conscience to keep anything from someone or lie about it (I even struggle with surprises) and I’ve found this extremely helpful in…

How To Walk In Your Christian Louboutin Shoes

How To Walk In Your Christian Louboutin Shoes As I have quite a few popular blog posts here on Raindrops of Sapphire about Christian Louboutin shoes, including getting your Christian Louboutin shoes to fit as well as my DIY Christian Louboutin strass shoes and finding the right Christian Louboutin shoes for you, I thought it would be a nice idea to write up a blog post on how to walk in them. I know so many ladies struggle to walk in Msr. Louboutin’s heels, I did at first, but I have managed to pick up a few tips and tricks along the way and I figured it was only fair that I share them with you! So, first things first, taking a look at the soles of his shoes and what makes them difficult. The soles of Christian Louboutin shoes are made of bright red leather, which is really smooth and silky, so they can be quite difficult to walk in on shiny or slippery surfaces due to no grip. A lot of ladies get the red vibram rubber soles attached to the bottom of their shoes to add some traction when walking while not messing up the red entirely. I haven’t ever done this with my own shoes though as I’ve not needed to since I don’t wear them out in the rain or for longer periods of time. You might want to consider it if you plan on wearing them to work or for a few hours at a time. It will help preserve the soles and stop them from wearing out completely. Over the duration of a…

When it comes to Summer, I always find myself reaching for my essentials and making sure I’m stocked up ready for the heat (well, if you can call it that here in England!). Appreciating My Body, Changing My Life

For so long I never really appreciated my body, I used to think negatively towards it, always focus on parts I hated, I even had diaries full of the latest diets I was planning to try out (or did try), the craziest regimes I would put myself on, lots of different fads through my teen years and even ended up being a size 24 in jeans, which is fine for some people, but for my frame, it wasn’t right. I used to think I was fat and I was really unhappy, even when I did lose all that weight, I thought I would be happy, but I wasn’t. I still had a lot of depression because my life just wasn’t right. I had many stresses going on around me, I hadn’t long been diagnosed with my illness and I wasn’t settled at all. All of this led to being unhappy (most part due to being restricted), but a lot to do with my lifestyle. I’ve spent years battling with anxiety and depression and even though I have refused numerous times to be put on anti-depressants from doctors (simply because I believe you can cure yourself), I was still lost trying to find ways to get better. [Sorry for the very open and depressive intro, but it’s necessary for where this post is going!] But, the older I get, the wiser I get and the more knowledge I take in, and it’s taken me all these years (from about age 13 until now, where I’m 25) to really understand my body, who I am and how I feel. I’ve always been…

My Skin Care Routine: Jan Marini, Liz Earle & Origins

I’ve had a lot of questions about my skincare routine, including what I use because I’m often mistaken for a 16 year old. As I’ve explained before, a lot of it is genetic because my mum and dad look really young, but it’s also because of my lifestyle. I don’t drink alcohol or fizzy drinks and I don’t smoke or go out in the sun without sun cream. I would say that I have a pretty healthy diet and rarely eat sugar either, but I do have a good skincare regime that I stick to every morning and night and it’s something that works really well for me and my problem skin. I am prone to acne and have a lot of scarring on my face too, but to keep my skin under control it’s related a lot to my hormones and diet unfortunately, which makes it even harder to keep spot free. But I will take you through my skincare regime and the products I use, when I use them and what they look like, this does also include vitamins! So above is my Jan Marini 5 step system that I use morning and night. I originally found out about these products when I went for a consultation at a skin clinic here in Bath called The Orangery 2 years ago. I went there to talk to them about getting my skin under control and also a system of removing scars and pigmentation that I have on my skin. I was introduced to the skin care system that they swear by and it is Jan Marini. I will admit…

My Make Up – Barbara Panagos, Benefit & More

I get asked a lot of questions about my make-up and what I use, so I thought it would be good to put together a whole post dedicated just to it and the process I go through. Since I am naturally blonde, I naturally have blonde eyelashes and eyebrows too, so one part of my body that I’m not comfortable with is my eyes. I like them because they are green, which is a rarer colour, but without mascara, I think they look really small and boyish, which is why I make sure I never leave the house without my mascara and eye make up on. I know it’s not good to think it, but without any make-up on my eyes, I feel really manly as my eyes are quite small and my eyelashes are almost invisible due to their colour. You can really see just how much of a difference it makes in the 4 photos above. The first is obviously without any make-on, completely bare so please be nice, ha ha, the second is just with one coat of my Benefit Yes They’re Real Mascara, the third is with two coats of the mascara and the fourth is finished with a grey eyeliner from Avon which has shimmer in it and then my Bourjois Paris Smoky Eye eyeshadow palette. I use the mid grey towards the outsides of my eyelids and then the lighter silver on the insides to create a blended ombre effect. This is usually how I wear my eyes when I go out for the day, sometimes I do go out without the eyeshadow or…

My Hair Care Routine

A lot of you have asked me previously about my hair and have mentioned that you really like the style, so I thought I would share with you my hair care routine. I use quite a few different products as I do have extra thick hair, even my hairdresser struggles with the amount of hair I have, ha ha. It’s quite a long routine each time I wash it (about an hour and half from start to finish), so I actually only wash it twice a week. As it’s really thick and coarse, it doesn’t get greasy until 3 days, so that works out well for me.

Navigating The January Sales

The after Christmas and January sales are one of my favourite times of year for shopping! Over the years I have become quite good at getting the deals I want for a good price by thinking smart and budgeting well. I was given a challenge by VoucherCodes.co.uk to navigate the high street sales with £80 and to document my experience, while sharing my sale shopping tips and tricks with you! I think sale shopping is a really good way to stock up on trends for the coming season. Usually the items that hit the sales are from the previous season, so this year there were a lot of Spring/Summer pieces at discounted prices, so I got a few of them for Spring next year, as pastels are always on trend during the warmer months.
