Salisbury Cathedral – It’s Magical

I thought I would do a travel post today as it’s been an incredibly long time since I did! I believe the last time I did one was when Adam and I went to St. Ives last year! So, to celebrate mine and Adam’s 9 year anniversary two weekends ago, we took a trip to Salisbury in Wiltshire. It was about an hour on the train from Bath and luckily it didn’t rain once, despite me wearing suitable travelling clothes. You just know though if I had worn something fancy and non waterproof, it would have down poured! So what can I say about Salisbury? One word – Magical! It was mixed emotions when we got off the train though as the area around the station leaves much to be desired, however once you get into the town and actually into Salisbury itself, it’s so quaint and historical. There’s a beautiful stream/river that runs through the town, even beneath the shops at some points, there’s bridges, delicate and elegant looking buildings, serene and picturesque surroundings and of course… Salisbury Cathedral. Salisbury Cathedral was the actual reason we went as I hadn’t been there since I was a little child with my grandparents, so I don’t remember a whole lot about it. The architecture and the history behind this cathedral is incredible. I knew it was big, but when you arrive towards the entrance of the grounds, you’re hit in the face with the monumental scale of it. I believe Salisbury Cathedral has the tallest spire in the UK, standing at 404ft high. You can actually take a tower tour which…

Eating Out At Thaikhun Restaurant in Little Southgate, Bath

I’ve done something a little different for a blog post this month – a restaurant review! I got invited to try out the new Thai place called Thaikhun, which is located in Little Southgate in my home City of Bath. There’s a few new restaurants which have opened up there and this one is quite different to most. Thaikhun is pronounced like ‘Tykoon’ and means “your” Thai restaurant. It will instantly transport you across the world to San road! Bursting at the seams with hand picked bric-a-brac, delicious street food and Thai inspired cocktails, Thaikhun is so much more than a restaurant. It has such a wonderful vibe inside, completely different to British restaurants, so it was like a whole new experience for me. If you’re in Bath and you like Thai food, check out my review below. I think you’ll like it! Thaikhun Atmosphere As you can see from my photos, the atmosphere is very fancy! They have old TV’s on the wall in a display, lots of little trinkets and ornaments which adorn the walls and ceilings as well, there’s shrines to Buddha and monks, lots of street signs and flags, fences and railings etc. It’s a complete mix of different elements which all come together as one to give you the sense of a Thai or oriental market. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating as well, especially if you have food allergies, and the manager was wonderful, always checking we had everything we needed and that our food was up to standard, as well as explaining about how things are cooked and prepared. I usually prefer quiet restaurants and…

3 Places In Florida I Want To Go

Florida is an amazing state in the United States and it’s one that’s been on my list to visit for quite some time. Whenever I finally make the trip over to the US, California (mostly Los Angeles), New York, and Florida are the places I want to go. There’s just something so different about each one, a completely different vibe, yet they all resemble the ideal of the States that’s in my mind. I’ve spoken a lot about LA before and how it’s a dream of mine to visit, and obviously New York is a shopping capital, so that’s a given, to really see it in all its hustle and bustle, but Florida… it sounds amazing! So, here are 3 places that I want to visit in Florida. Disney World When I think of Florida, I wont lie, my first thoughts always drift towards Disney World! It’s only natural since it’s the biggest Disneyland on the planet, one in which you need about 2 weeks to get everything done, so of course I am desperate to go there for the ultimate Disney dream, but I haven’t even been to Disneyland Paris just yet, so all in good time. I can only imagine how amazing it is though since it’s in Orlando and the weather is mostly incredible. It’s constantly raining, cold, and grey here, so seeing Disney lit up by the sun sounds like a magical dream. I’m also not forgetting Universal Studios either, that would be included in my visit for sure. Miami Located in Dade County, this city is one of the most famous on the eastern seaboard,…

I’m Finally Going To Disneyland Paris!

I’m finally going to Disneyland Paris this year! Those of you who know me or have followed my fashion blog for quite some time will know that I have an obsession with Disney. I just recently got the Art of Belle Snow Globe from Adam for Christmas, and anytime I go past a Disney store, I can’t just walk by. I’ve grown up with Disney, especially the older cartoons as they hold fond memories of my nan as well, so anything Disney (especially the music) is my happy place. Since I was little, I had always wanted to go to Disneyland Paris, but because of the travel and the price, I’ve never been. Adam and I really looked into it this month though and found out that if you book every thing separately, and stay outside the park in a partner hotel, you can go for a much cheaper price. So by booking the hotel, the travel, the park tickets etc individually, you actually save hundreds, meaning… the trip is possible! When were were looking before, we were only really looking at the Disneyland Paris hotels inside the park and weren’t thinking about outside the park. We found out by looking at a search engine which combines all the best deals from websites in one place, comparing prices and saving money. The hotel we decided on is the Vienna House Dream Castle Hotel and you can take a shuttle from there to the park each day, which sounds ideal, not to mention the interior looks much nicer! The money we would save by using that deal is around £630 as…

Dreaming Of A Hot Getaway

I know I often complain about this weather here in the UK during the Winter, as it’s just so cold, and one of the ways that I try and feel better about it is by dreaming of a hot country. I was really excited when I got to work with Thomson on this blog article as it couldn’t have come at a better time! One of the countries I have always wanted to visit is Tenerife. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s in the Canary Islands, Spain, so it’s warm! Its current temperature is a nice 20C and that’s not bad at all for the middle of December is it? I heard that January is supposed to be extremely cold here, below -10C, so I’m going to be dreaming of Tenerife and an all-inclusive trip the entire time. There are a few reasons I’ve always wanted to go there and they are not only because it’s gorgeous and hot, but because of Teide Volcano. My grampy unfortunately passed away a few years ago and one of his first plane rides later in his life was to Tenerife and he loved it. I have a piece of volcanic rock which he brought me back from the volcano and I’ve kept it safe ever since, so I’ve always wanted to see the volcano in real life. My city of Bath is a dead volcano and we live inside it (we still have hot spring water though!) but I’ve never got to see a proper one and Tenerife isn’t all that far away! Plus, it’s the 3rd largest on an island in…

Maybe I’ll Take A Cruise

As you know, I’ve really wanted to be able to travel and see so many different countries and culture, but flying isn’t an option for me at the moment due to my anxiety and health. I’ve been to many places within the UK and I’ve even briefly visited France (the inside of the train station anyway), plus I’ve been to Florence for a few days, but I’m not widely travelled. I unfortunately found out while on holiday in St. Ives last year that I’m extremely sea sick on smaller boats, which is absolutely awful, but I’ve come to the realisation that I might be able to take a cruise ship! Apparently, as the boat is much, much bigger, ocean cruises are not choppy or rocky if you avoid the harsher weather and areas where oceans meet with each other. Meaning I technically shouldn’t feel sea sick. If that’s the case, count me in! If I was able to take a cruise, I think that would be a dream holiday all in one! I would absolutely love to explore the Caribbean islands with those crystal blue waters, and maybe even seeing dolphins! How amazing would that be? Have any of you taken a cruise and seen dolphins? I love the fact that you can stop at some ports as well and get off and explore for the day, that would be perfect. I’m not sure if you can do that in the Caribbean, but fingers crossed! If not, just seeing my blue and white surroundings while on board a cruise ship sounds perfect to me. I was contacted by Titan travel…

St. Ives Photo Diary

Here it is! I know it’s a month since I was in St. Ives, but as I had so many outfit posts and my engagement to Adam to announce, I wanted to wait and round it out with the St. Ives photo diary of our holiday. We stayed in the same B&B as before, it’s called 27 The Terrace, and you could say it’s more like a 5 star B&B or a small, fancy boutique hotel as it’s absolutely gorgeous there. It’s our favourite place and we don’t even feel like we need to try anywhere else, it’s become a second home. St. Ives is one of, if not our most, favourite places in the world now and Adam and I are even considering living there when we are married, if we can. It would be a dream come true for us to be honest, so it’s definitely something to think about more and try to plan. The views are just incredible with the bright blue sea, the cliffs, the quaint villages and houses, the friendly people, and the relaxation of being by the beach all the time, it feels like such a safe place to be and we loved going out in the evening too, just to explore. I’ve put captions beneath all of these photos and I don’t think I need to do much more explaining about how amazing the holiday was, but I think it was the best holiday I have ever been on. Not just because Adam proposed to me, but because it was so relaxing and the weather was beautiful. It’s a holiday that I…

I Wish I Could Fly, Way Up To The Sky

But I can’t. You can! I can’t… Some of you might get that reference (if you are older and were a fan of Keith Harris and Orvil), but others might wonder what on earth I’m on about, ha ha. I basically wish I was brave enough, and healthy enough, to go on a plane and fly to lots of places. New York and Los Angeles are two of the highest on my list, but I know I have mentioned somewhere a little more closer to home to you before, and that’s: Greece. Ever since I watched the movie ‘Shirley Valentine’ when I was little (and have watched it about 50 times since), I have wanted to visit Greece. The ‘Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants’ later confirmed that for me when Lena met Kostos there and fell in love. There’s so many beautiful places in Greece, but one of my all time favourites to go to would have to be Mykonos. The white buildings, the bright blue sky and sea… It’s like a paradise. It’s my all time dream to go there and I don’t think it’s something that I could do via the train and boat due to my sea sickness, so I’m really going to have to get over the flying issue… but, I’m petrified. Adam and I often talk about travelling and seeing all these different countries, but the actual concept of getting on a plane and flying there, being suspended in the air by nothing, and being stuck inside the small cabin up in the air, is one that neither of us can wrap our heads around.…
