It’s 11 Years Today, Since I…

…Started Raindrops of Sapphire! I founded this fashion blog on the 10th March 2010 and I cannot believe that 11 years has gone by already. I shot these photos yesterday with my mum, and in all honesty, I had forgotten that it was my blog’s birthday today, but as it turns out, these photos actually ended up being perfect for this personal post. There’s something about them that embodies a more confident, powerful vibe that I’ve been feeling lately. I don’t know if it’s the trousers and heels combination, but I really love how it turned out. I will briefly tell you about the outfit at the bottom of this post, but first, I’ll share my thoughts at the moment with you! Where I’m at right now is definitely a good place, for the most part, but I also have my ups and downs. Like everyone around the whole world has felt this year, it’s been absolutely insane and crazy. None of us could have predicted that we would be in the midst of a global pandemic, and hardly any of us have been able to handle it with grace and positivity. It’s been extremely worrying, depressing, and quite frankly, life changing, especially for myself. I never thought that I’d be celebrating my blog’s 11th birthday this way, especially as the lockdowns have been on and off for a year now, but here we are. One thing that this has taught me is that I shouldn’t take everything for granted. Just the simple act of going out to eat lunch, see my family, and just simply going for a picnic…

Allsaints Tan Suede Balfern With Flared Jeans

Allsaints Suede Balfern With Cropped Flared Jeans Happy Monday everyone! I hope your week goes well! The weather finally warmed up somewhat recently and my mum and I were able to go out and shoot some photos for a little while, making sure to avoid anyone else out walking since we’re still in lockdown. How are you all anyway? For this outfit, I put together something a little bit different, but also classic for me. I wore my new Allsaints Tan Suede Balfern Jacket that I got in a size up so that I could wear it over my 525 Roll Neck Jumper in Cream. I then styled it with my new PAIGE Claudine Cropped Flares in Seaspray Distressed, which I wrapped my Gucci Mini Belt in Tan around the waist, and then finished it off with my Topshop Snake Print Boots. Now you know me, I’m always a skinny jeans girl and I rarely ever wear anything but skinny jeans, but when I saw these PAIGE Jeans, I fell in love with them. The cropped flared fit is the perfect length for my shorter height, as it means I can wear them almost full length. Plus, they’re super comfortable and the wash is beautiful, so I’m thinking of reviewing these jeans soon on The Jeans Blog. I will let you know when I do! Now getting to the suede jacket, isn’t it incredible? You’ve probably read my Allsaints Balfern Leather Jacket review before, but if you haven’t, you will know that the Balfern is my favourite design of theirs. I own numerous jackets in that cut, and this one…

A Beige Shacket With Blue Jeans

A Beige Zara Plaid Shirt Jacket Outfit Happy Tuesday! You probably remember this shacket outfit that I wore a little while ago, featuring the black and white shirt jacket from Zara, but I also wanted to share this Beige Shacket that I got from the brand too. I bought them at the same time and fell in love with the trend as they’re so comfortable! I paired this one with a Zara Knitted Crop Top, much like the grey version I had before, and a pair of my Citizens of Humanity Olivia Jeans. I finished it off with my Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini Backpack and my Dr. Martens Serena Fur Lined Boots to pull it all together. It’s a comfortable and casual look that’s easy for wearing when it’s chilly out, but not too cold. I’m keeping this blog post shorter for you today as I’m focusing on the outfit specifically, so let me know what you think of it in the comments below! Lorna xx.

The Black & White Plaid Shacket

The Plaid Shacket Outfit Sorry for my little absence the last couple of weeks, I have been really busy working on some other projects which I’m excited about. On an exiting note though, did any of you catch the snow? I finally saw snow for the first time in two years here! Ha ha! It was gone overnight, but I was excited to see it! I went outside at 6am just to take it all in. For this outfit, that I shot a few weeks ago, I was wearing this really cool Zara Black and White Plaid Shacket (which is a term used for shirt jacket) and I layered it over my Knitted Grey Bralet, also from the brand. My jeans are the AGOLDE Riley in Black, which I combined with my ASOS Western Belt, and then finished it all off with my Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots in Anthracite. I like the tough and masculine vibe that this look has, with the oversized shirt, and the looser fitting mom jeans, but I think it’s made feminine with the cropped top, and even though I’m wearing combat boots, they’re extra girly with the crystals on them, so it’s a good mix of feminine and masculine. What’s your opinion on this outfit I put together? And how are you all? Lorna xx. *This post contains affiliate links to help keep this blog running.

My Outfits From 2020

Rounding out 2020 with my outfits from the year Another year has come to a close, and one of my favourite, traditional posts to do is the roundup of my favourite outfits from the year! I didn’t get to share as many outfits during 2020 as I usually do every other year, but that’s for obvious reasons! A lot of this year came to a halt because of lockdowns and everything else, it meant I wasn’t able to do as many shoots for many months. However, with that being said, I think I managed to get quite a few, considering! There were 37 published outfits on my fashion blog, so that’s pretty good going! I’m keeping this blog post short, as it’s mainly to roundup and focus on the outfits, but please do let me know what outfit here was your favourite! It was a big change going from Adam shooting my photos at the start of the year, to my mum taking them for the last couple of months. I will also be doing a new year post very soon, talking about my plans for 2021 and opening up a little bit more. Happy new year everyone! I genuinely hope that it is a happy new year, and not a happy new tier (for us in the UK, ha ha!). Lorna xx. My Subtle, Yet Stylish Festive Outfit

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Merry Christmas Eve! I’m not posting on the actual day, so that’s why I’m wishing you all a very Happy Christmas right now! If you are able to celebrate it, as I know there’s a lot in the UK who are in Tier 4 and aren’t allowed. The times are really hard right now, but I feel like now is the time where we really need to appreciate what we have, the meaning of friends and family, and not taking things for granted. Even just the everyday, simple things like going to the shop, it’s to be appreciated. I also have a couple of posts coming up before December ends, including a roundup of my outfits from 2020, so definitely keep checking back! That will be on the 27th and the 31st! Now getting to my outfit here, I was wearing my old Topshop Rainbow Metallic Jumper/Sweater (which you have seen before here and here). I styled it with my L’AGENCE Margot Skinny Jeans in Coated Black, as I think this jumper looks amazing with waxed jeans! I then added some festive sparkle with my Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots in Anthracite, and finished it off with my ASOS Western Belt, that I have worn numerous times before. In the past, I have worn an Elf costume or a Mrs. Santa suit, and even some crazy Christmas jumpers, but this year, I wanted to keep it a little more classy, a little more muted, and more matching of my personality at the moment. The jumper itself is knitted with gold metallic threads, so it actually sparkles really nicely…

The Feather Dress

A Feather Print Dress With A Leather Jacket Happy Saturday everyone! I feel like we are officially out of Autumn and into Winter now, however the temperatures are still fairly warm for December. I’m sad to say goodbye to the beautiful orange hues of the leaves though, but I saved this post here for the last Autumn shoot as I think it embodies the season perfectly! The print on the dress complements the location magnificently, and I love it! I was wearing the Allsaints Darley Fusion Dress here, and I layered the Allsaints Balfern Leather Jacket over my shoulders to give it a little bit of a tougher vibe. I then finished it off with my Saint Laurent West Harness Boots in Black, and my Celine Nano Luggage Bag in Glazed Nut. The print on this dress is absolutely gorgeous! If you remember the previous outfit I wore which featured an Allsaints feathered dress with a jumper/sweater over the top (see it here), the dress on that had a very similar design, which I have fallen in love with. I have been eyeing it up in a blouse design too, that’s how much I adore it! I’m not sure if this print is entirely seasonal though and only works for the Autumn months, but we will see! The reason I styled this dress with my leather jacket and my black boots is because I wanted to bring a little bit more of a tougher vibe to a feminine dress. This dress itself isn’t overly girly, it has a more mature vibe to it, but pairing it with some rock and…

Allsaints Leowa Maxi Dress With Knitwear

Knitwear Over A Maxi Dress Outfit Isn’t this two piece dress just incredible? I had to start this blog post off with that sentence, because it’s how I feel every single time I look at it. I noticed this Allsaints Leowa Fusion 2 in 1 Dress a month or more ago on their website and I completely fell in love with it. The retail price for such a statement dress was a bit much for me though, so I ended up purchasing it at 30% off during the Black Friday discounts! It’s now even cheaper though and has 40% off, so I recommend snapping it up if you think it’s gorgeous too! I took a size medium in this two piece as the size small dress underneath was a bit too tight in the chest area, so the medium ended up giving a much nicer, casual fit. I wasn’t too sure on the knitted jumper/sweater that comes with it as it’s a little itchy with the wool content, but after a few minutes I got used to it and it was ok. Another thing I wasn’t sure on was the length, I thought it would be too long for me, but as it turns out, it’s the most perfect height for my ankle boots! I wanted to keep this whole outfit simple, but statement, so I paired this Allsaints Leowa Dress with my Gianvito Rossi Gold Boots, and finished it off with my Celine Nano Luggage Bag in Glazed Nut. Just two simple accessories to complete the outfit, but they make a statement on their own and sit well with…
