Casually Burgundy

I wanted to first start out by saying thank you to everyone for your patience in my updates here. I know I’ve gone quite a while lately between posts, and I’m starting to feel a lot better mentally. Things just take time and I’m able to focus a lot more now. I wont lie, it’s been really tough. Your support has meant the world to me though, seeing all your lovely comments and words of encouragement really do help, seriously. I mean that, I’m so grateful for everyone here in this community. This is an outfit that I wore a couple of months ago before the lock down took place, it was something comfortable and casual, and again, by Abercrombie & Fitch. I was wearing their Curve Love High Rise Super Skinny Jeans in Black and their Soft AF Burgundy Jumper, finished off with my Golden Goose Deluxe Brand Sneakers. I’m mostly feeling outfits like this at the moment (remember this one?), as they’re what I wear to the park for my walk and just running errands. I haven’t really dressed up in a long time! How are you all anyway? I hope you’re well! Lorna xx. *This post contains affiliate links to help keep this blog running.

Contemplation

I know that I’ve been quite quiet on the blog scene and social media scene, and I did explain to you in a past post that I’m going through a lot at the moment, which is still true. I’m getting there slowly though, but I’m sure a lot of you can relate, and it’s tough, when your mind and head space are completely fried. That’s the reason I have been finding it hard to sit and write to you all, because I can’t even navigate my own thoughts and feelings on a day to day basis, let alone write them down constructively, which is why I just decided to start typing, and see what happens. All I know at the moment is that I really want to travel to the United States. I want to visit a few states there and experience so much of America that I have been dreaming to do my whole life. Of course I am nervous of flying, but I want to be able to just get on the plane and do it. I decided that I can’t really just sit at home all the time and do nothing, now is about travelling and experiencing culture, which I am excited to do. There’s a new chapter in my life that’s about to begin and I’m both nervous and excited for it to begin, but getting used to my current situation is definitely a shock to my system. How are you all coping right now with the lock down and the virus? For us, we’re still in lock down for a while and I’m just coping…

Staying Home

I can never catch a break at the moment, ha ha. My blog access to my admin was down for just over a week and I couldn’t write any blog posts, but it’s finally back up and running. How is everyone managing with the lock down? I know not every country is in one, but for us here in the UK, we are. We are only allowed out to go to do essential grocery shopping, to get medical supplies, and to exercise alone for a short amount of time, to prevent the spread of Covid-19. I stay in mostly all the time anyway, only going out in the daytime sometimes for lunch, because I work from home and don’t enjoy nightlife out. I will admit it is hard though, staying in like this constantly. How is everyone else managing? What are some of the things you’re doing to combat the boredom? For those of you interested in my outfit, I’m wearing an Allsaints shirt and my L’AGENCE Margot Skinny Jeans, but I wasn’t going to make this blog post about the outfit, I was going to keep it about the staying in prospect as that’s what everyone is going through at the moment. Anyway, I hope you’re all well and keeping safe away from the virus? Let me know! Lorna xx.

My Blog’s 10 Year Birthday & A Life Update

On the 10th March 2020, my blog, Raindrops of Sapphire, turned 10 years old! I’ve had a lot going on in the last couple of months, so it actually completely slipped my mind and I didn’t have any content planned that I had thought about doing. It’s crazy to think that 10 years have gone by since I started this website, that’s a third of my life! It’s been a whole mix of ups and downs, exciting opportunities and a lot of hard work, but I couldn’t be happier with the business that I created. If you follow me on Instagram though (@LornaRaindrops) you will know that I announced on my stories something very important a week ago. Quite a few of you had been asking where Adam was and various things, and why I had been so quiet over the last 2 months, so I thought I would share it here too. After 11 years together, and being engaged, Adam and I are not romantically together anymore. This happened in January and it’s been an extremely tough time for the both of us, so that’s the reason for me taking a lot of time off and being a little more quiet in general. It’s been hard trying to balance personal struggles with a full time business that you run alone, there’s been many bad days, but I am not beating myself up for it. I’m allowing myself to take the time and focus on myself because my health has struggled. Adam and I are now very friendly and we decided that we work really well as friends and business…

Casual In Abercrombie

Comfy And Soft In Abercrombie & Fitch Sometimes I just love to wear something extremely casual, like a pair of skinny jeans and some knitwear, with comfortable flat shoes. For this outfit, I did just that, I wore my new Abercrombie & Fitch Soft AF Cozy Long Sleeve Crew Tee and their Curve Love Ripped High Rise Super Skinny Ankle Jeans, finished off with my Alexander McQueen Oversized Sneakers in Pewter as I seem to be living in those for a comfortable flat trainer. I can’t recommend them enough! I only recently got into Abercrombie & Fitch when a friend recommended them to me, and as it turns out, their clothes are really soft and comfortable, and actually fit nicely. The Curve Love skinny jeans are very suited to me as they have more room in the hips and thighs, which with my new figure and weight gain, is incredibly helpful. I really like how this turned out though! Lorna xx. P.S. – It’s time for the Shopbop Spring Event! It’s here! You can get 15% off of orders of $200+, 20% off of orders of $500+, and 25% off of orders of $800+ by using the code SPRING at the checkout. The sale ends on the 9th March 2020 at 4am EST, so you have a little while to shop, but make sure you get your pieces now because they might sell out! There are some exclusions, but so much is included. Click here to go to Shopbop.com *This post contains affiliate links to help keep this blog running.

Currently Craving: February 2020

Can you believe that another month is over and we’re now heading into March? It’s crazy! For my wish list this month though, I’ve included a few new things from a brand I hadn’t really tried before, and that’s Abercrombie & Fitch. We don’t really have many stores in the UK, but a friend introduced me to the brand and I’ve been hooked on them actually the last few weeks! That’s why this wish list actually comprises mostly of their clothes as their the majority, and they also have 25% off at the moment. First up though, I wanted to talk about shapewear. I recently gained some weight and have been looking at some undergarment pieces to slim my body down a little bit. I was checking out SKIMS as the Kardashian’s make that brand, and their shapewear is always on point. The one I was looking at is the longer length short with a higher waist, which also enhances the butt. I’m thinking this piece might be ideal underneath some dresses when the weather warms up as the length hits the knee, meaning there wont be any thigh dents, and the higher waist will come up to the bra band, meaning there wont be any rolls of skin above it, or any digging in. I would be intrigued to know if you have tried SKIMS?     Moving onto my look book pieces, above, from Abercrombie & Fitch there is this green lace cami top, their Curve Love button skinny jeans, a SOFT AF terracotta jumper, a brown lace cami top, their Curve Love black skinny jeans, a floral…

Styling Mom Jeans & High Waisted Skinnies

Styling Mom Jeans & High Waisted Jeans When it comes to denim, you all know how much I absolutely love it! Jeans have been my passion since I was about 16 and I’ve collected a vast amount of them over the years, being obsessed with them. As time passed and I got very used to how jeans should fit, and watched the trends come and go, I developed a strong knowing of what cuts I liked the most and what I found to be most comfortable and flattering. Those would be high waisted skinny jeans and more recently, mom jeans. I thought it would be good to share with you some styling tips for both cuts, and how I like to wear them. High Waisted Jeans High waisted jeans are actually my favourite entirely, especially if they’re skinny, as I love how flattering they are on my body shape, purely because they suit my figure. One way that I love to wear high waisted skinny jeans is with a cropped sweater and ankle boots, but I also love them with a blouse and high heels. Throwing on an oversized cardigan or leather jacket really ties that together, but the key for me is to have the waist showing of the jeans as it really lengthens your legs. By doing this, you can also wear sneakers this way, as your legs still look long, and that’s an important thing for me as I’m only 5ft 4″ with a 26″ inseam. High waisted jeans with exposed buttons at the fly have become a huge favourite of mine, just like this pair above,…

Layers Of Pewter

The Winter nights are finally drawing to a close and Spring is starting to appear, but I have a few outfits left to share with you before I step into my warmer weather attire. This look here was shot a few weeks ago, back in early January and it’s one that I threw together on a whim as I wanted to wear my Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots in Anthracite again. I’ve been living in these boots, as you can probably tell! I adore them and can never get enough of how cool they look. As it warms up, I can’t wait to wear these with dresses and skirts for a different kind of look. Anyway, for this outfit, I styled the Jimmy Choo Cruz Boots with my Beyond Yoga Black Leggings and an older Oasis White Fluffy Jumper as the base. I then layered over my Topshop Long Grey Belted Coat and finally finished it off with my Saint Laurent Nano Sac de Jour in Grey. You’d be correct in thinking that I always choose this bag too, but in fairness, it’s the only grey bag with silver hardware that I own and it’s extremely versatile. I do think it’s good to wear your pieces numerous times though as you end up getting a lot of wear in the cost per wear ratio. This outfit is a little bit more on the masculine side, but I really do think the crystals on the boots help ease it away from that entirely. It’s a combination that I would gladly wear again. How are you all anyway? I feel like it’s been…
