Looking Back At 2015 & Welcoming 2016

Welcoming The Year 2016 It doesn’t feel like that long ago when I was doing my roundup of 2014 and talking about 2015 as a new year. This whole entire year has flown by and I can’t believe just how fast it’s gone now that I think about it. It’s kind of scary to think that I will be 28 this year and before I know it, I’m going to be 30! Wow. In time honoured tradition, I wanted to do a roundup of my favourite outfits and things that happened during each month of 2015, which you can see below, but I also wanted to take the time out to go through a few changes and ideas that I’m having for this brand new 2016 year. So what’s going to be new for 2016 on Raindrops of Sapphire? Due to me having had a lot of health problems over the last 6 months or so, I really need to focus on getting better both physically and mentally and that means not stretching myself and pushing myself to the limit. I will say, in all honesty, that fashion blogging isn’t as glamorous for me or what the photos lead people to believe, I actually do struggle quite a lot with the photoshoots during the Winter months. Living in England makes it very difficult to get the right lighting, avoid rain, avoid wind and to not freeze my butt off while taking photos, so for the rest of the Winter months, I will only be posting 2 blog posts a week. One of which will be an outfit (but I will…

My Christmas Week Photo Diary

My Christmas Photo Diary I thought it might be nice to share with you my week of Christmas. I don’t usually do this as I’m often busy with other blog posts around this time of year and maybe just quickly show some presents that I got, but as I spend the week with Adam leading up to Christmas, we did some fun things which I thought might be good to document. This does include seeing reindeer for the very first time too! I hope you enjoy my Christmas photo diary!

Health Update – Pneumonia

Unfortunately I don’t have much great news in terms of my health lately, which some of you may know already if you follow me closely on Snapchat (@LornaRaindrops). On Friday 20th, I started to not feel very well at all, my glands in my neck were really swollen and sore, my throat was sore and hurting, I had a headache and I generally felt unwell. This lasted until the Sunday and those symptoms went away and developed into a cough, body aches and feeling really horrible. My cough was getting really bad and it was constant, it wouldn’t stop at all, so every minute I was just barking all the time. I hardly got any sleep on Tuesday or Wednesday so trying to function with the M.E (which I need at least 7 hours sleep a night with) and cope with this was really draining. On the Wednesday night I had got so bad with the coughing and the strain, I ended up having a nose bleed and my chest was burning and painful. I decided I needed to go to the doctors and she did all her checks and came to the conclusion that I have a type of chest infection based on the crackling in my lungs which are filled with mucus, a temperature and the rest of my symptoms. She wanted to sign me off of work but as I’m self employed and work for myself blogging, I’ve had to carry on as much as I can, in between resting loads. I’m on a mixture of antibiotics for 7 days, a cough medicine which helps bring up…

Raindrops of Sapphire x Gossard Lingerie

Raindrops of Sapphire for the Gossard Iris Lingerie Collection Over the past year or so I’ve had a strong connection with some lingerie brands and modelling their latest collections. I’ve worked with Ultimo, Ann Summers, Gossard and Freya so far and I’m happy to be able to share underwear with you. As a woman, I know how important it is to find the right bra, the comfiest, but prettiest knickers etc and it’s something that we have to wear every single day, yet nobody really talks about. When it comes to an everyday bra for myself, I tend to just wear the Victoria’s Secret t-shirt bras, but when it comes to wanting something a little extra special, I’m happy to review the latest collections that there is for you all. I’m not sure how much longer I will continue doing lingerie shoots though as I’m not feeling completely comfortable with my body at the moment due to health issues, but I will see what other opportunities arise and whether or not if I think they will be beneficial. So with that in mind, this might be my last one unless things change in the near future. Now getting to this review, I’m very happy to be working with Gossard again! You may remember my last post that I did with them, back in the Spring, but this one is more cold weather appropriate. This is the Iris collection and it’s a gorgeous black satin with pink floral details on it, which I think is semi sexy in a way, but feminine and elegant at the same time. It’s quite a…

Raindrops of Sapphire x Freya Denim Lingerie

Freya Deco Denim Delight Lingerie Shoot It’s been a little while since I teamed up with a lingerie brand for a photo shoot, but I was really inspired when Freya contacted me and I saw that they had denim lingerie. Denim is an addiction of mine as you already know and I love to wear it in anything possible, from every piece of clothing to accessories. So, you can imagine my excitement when I saw that the Freya Deco Delight Denim Plunge Bra and Deco Denim Delight Shorts look just like denim! They are not made from actual denim, but the fabric has the appearance of it and is adorned with little bows to make it more feminine. I took the bra in a 32E as the 34DD was out of stock. The cups were slightly loose and the back quite tight since it’s not my usual size, but as it’s the sister size, it’s fine, the 34DD would be perfect on me though. The bra has quite a sturdy fit, the clasps are strong, the straps are thick and the cups are really comfortable, so I could definitely see this being an everyday type of bra rather than an occasional one. The knickers to match I took in size small and they fit just fine, so everything definitely seems to run true to size if you are considering getting this Deco Delight Denim lingerie set. I thought pairing the bra and knickers with my light blue denim shirt would give me a triple denim effect that I adore! Do any of you love Freya too and what do you…

The Key To Happiness

An interview with me on the key to happiness and being present Since coming out about my illness (M.E) and working with the M.E organisation, doing a couple of interviews and trying to answer all of your questions on it, I thought I would pile together some of the important and life changing questions from you and answer them in this post. I wanted this post to be about happiness, clarity and well-being, finding an internal strength and calmness even through the struggles and that’s something that I am on my way to achieving in full. I was sent these questions by most of you as readers, but the lovely Lindsey McKeon (who I interviewed before) asked me a few too and you can see those three first. I put them first as I think that’s fitting for the order and because she always asks such thoughtful and inspirational questions, which gets me started off well, but the rest of the questions are just as important and help give the interview depth. So why am I doing this interview? That old saying about when life gives you lemons, I see it as you have three possible options. 1 – You accept the lemons, you eat them, you go about your business. Sometimes slicing them a little or sprinkling them on your food, but the general rule is that you eat them. 2 – You complain about the lemons, you wanted oranges instead. You sit there and watch them go mouldy, getting angry at having the wrong fruit. 3 – You make lemonade. I know this is the usual answer, but…

John Greed Jewellery x Raindrops of Sapphire

John Greed Jewellery x Raindrops of Sapphire I’m really excited to share with you these little campaign images that Adam and I shot for John Greed. Being a fashion blogger, I used to have a thing for bold, statement jewellery to really give an edge to my outfits, however lately, I have been drifting towards more dainty and elegant pieces like petite pendants and subtle rings, so choosing these pieces from John Greed couldn’t have been simpler! Aren’t they gorgeous? To really focus on the jewellery and make them the standout objects in these photos though, I decided to go with a black and white theme and to only have colour where it was needed, making the jewellery the focal point of each shot. This White Gold Plated Pink Pave Quick Step Ring features channel set powder pink cubic zurconia stones on a 18ct white gold plated band. It’s incredibly feminine and elegant, making it the perfect minimal and girly ring for easy wearing. It’s subtle and comfortable, just adding a touch of class to your outfit without overpowering anything. It’s actually quite a lot paler in person and just showcases a hint of pink, but it would look great doubled up with other rings too. You can see each of the 5 jewellery pieces that I’m modelling below. Speaking of elegant rings though, this Dimapur Silver & Peridot Miranda Ring is also a great piece. This gorgeous ring is hand-crafted from polished silver in a classic style and set with a sparkly green peridot stone. August is of course my birth month, so peridot is my birthstone and I…
