6 Essential Fashion Items For Spring

6 Essential Fashion Items For Your Spring Wardrobe

Spring is officially here! That means it’s time to start thinking about your Spring essentials and creating a capsule wardrobe! What do I mean about a capsule wardrobe? I’m talking about those staple pieces that you can pair with anything and everything! Whether that’s an essential jacket, a dress, footwear, or accessories, it’s time to de-clutter, and bring in the warmer weather options!

Very have an amazing selection of items from the new in section, and that’s where I picked up most of these pieces from. I used to make so many mistakes when I was younger and I would buy these bold, extravagant looking items, only to realise that I could wear them about once or twice and they weren’t very versatile at all, often having nothing to pair them with. Gone are those days though! I pick versatile options and I tend to stick to a similar colour palette of neutrals and black, only including a little pop of colour here and there, and it works perfectly for keeping things minimal and clutter free.

For this Spring outfit that I put together, I went with a few staple pieces! These are must haves for me, so check out my 6 essential Spring items below!

A Leather Jacket

Now you guys know that I am addicted to leather jackets. They are the jackets that I wear the most and you would be surprised at how versatile they are. This specific one is an Allsaints Balfern leather biker jacket in black, and it’s literally the most versatile jacket in my collection. If you only have room for one leather jacket, make it this one! It’s all you need and it’s the perfect option to layer over those Spring clothes to keep you warm, and looking stylish.

Jewellery

Now this may be extremely obvious, as we all love wearing jewellery when it’s warmer out, but picking the right jewellery is crucial. A pretty watch, much like this Olivia Burton timepiece I have on here, is perfect. It’s one you can, again, dress up or down, and it looks fancy on the wrist. It’s a mixture of gold and silver too, so it will pair perfectly with both gold and silver jewellery. Depending on your skin tone, you might prefer only gold or silver, but if you’re a neutral like me, you can wear both. You can add cute little metal bracelets to the wrist to accentuate the watch, and I love layered necklaces too. Small elegant chains that grace the neckline look beautiful, especially if they complement some petite hoops in your ears. My key for jewellery is keeping it elegant and simple. Nothing over the top.

A Versatile Dress

Dresses are a prominent part of most of our Spring and Summer wardrobes, but picking the right one can be extremely difficult, especially if you’re wanting a capsule collection to keep things minimal. You want to look at picking a dress that’s flattering to your body shape, and also one that you can dress up and down. When it comes to prints, something minimal and elegant with an easy colour scheme is ideal. Much like this Allsaints Bryony Kuroyuri Satin Dress I chose here! You can easily dress this one up with heels for an evening event, or you can dress it down for the daytime like I did, with boots and a leather jacket. Versatile options like this are key!

Ankle Boots – Now I know some of you might not think these particular boots that I’m wearing here, from V by Very, are an important staple piece for Spring, as they’re dependent on your personal style, but I’m talking about ankle boots in general. I personally love these ones, but you can’t go wrong with any pair of ankle boots! They work with cropped skinny jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts… They’re one of the most easy to pair footwear choices you can think of, and since we’re not in Summer just yet, they help keep your feet warm. You really can’t go wrong with a pair of ankle boots in your Spring capsule wardrobe!

A Classic Bag – I’ve had this bag for a while, it’s the Saint Laurent 5 a 7 bag, and it couldn’t be more perfect! It’s actually one of my favourite bags right now. The reason being is the versatility of it. You can dress it up by wearing it on your shoulder since it’s black and gold with a gorgeous, elegant shape, but you can also dress it down for daytime by wearing it on your arm or in your hand. I know many of us love to mix up our bags, but once you invest in a classic one, you’ll find that you reach for it all the time.

Sunglasses – I know sunglasses are often seen as a Summer accessory, but Spring gives you many bright days and I recently mentioned in a previous post, protecting your eyes at all costs is important. I recommend picking a pair of sunglasses that are not too statement, a pair that are sleek, well made, and suit your face shape. Obviously everyone’s face shape is different, but a classic aviator style like these Ray-Ban Aviators I have here in rose gold and brown are perfect! They’re going to suit pretty much everyone and they’re the only sunglasses you need in my opinion.

So those are my top 6 essential items for Spring to create a capsule wardrobe, but I would be really intrigued to know what yours are too! Pretty much all of these pieces are available to buy at the new in section of Very, as they’re amazing for having so many wonderful items. Check them out! Let me know what you think of the outfit that I put together too! Lorna xx.

I love this look and actually purchased the same all saints dress for a wedding in May! I wondered what you would suggest for an alternative jacket to wear with this? I like blazers but I feel black would be too formal/dark for a spring wedding πŸ€”

It’s gorgeous isn’t it? πŸ˜€ Regarding a blazer to go with this, yes black is too harsh for a wedding, but a lighter colour like stone or beige could work as it would play off of the light floral shades. Another option would be a kimono or shawl type of arm wrap!
