My Birthday Celebrations

What Did I Get Up To On My Birthday?

A lot of you wanted to know what I got up to for my 30th birthday celebrations (and I know my last 2 posts before this one have been birthday related, this is the last one, I swear!) so I thought I would compile it all together into a blog post for you, with a sideline of Instagram. I celebrated over the course of 3 days (it was going to be 4, but the 4th thing got messed up so wasn’t doable), and I’ve loved every second of it, even despite the hiccups that happened! So again, thank you so much for all your lovely birthday wishes, I think I must have received around 200 in the end, so you all mean the world to me, it’s been wonderful celebrating my 30 years with everyone.

Bicester Shopping Village

So, one of the main things I did was take a trip to Bicester Shopping Village with Adam. For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a giant outlet village, very similar to Clarks Village, however it’s designer shops like Celine, Burberry, Valentino, Dior etc. We went there on the Friday and it’s what I had been SO excited for since Adam and I decided a couple of months ago that we would go. I’ve been saving my money hard, and took my credit card with me, as I knew I wanted to buy a few things. For those of you who follow me on Instagram (click here to follow me) you will have seen the videos from the day, as well as a reveal of the items I purchased. I have since put these into a Bicester Village highlight on my profile, so if you want to know more about the trip and everything, head to my Instagram and view it (you need to be logged in)! I ended up getting a Mulberry bag, a Dior sweatshirt (it’s gorgeous!), a Burberry scarf, and some Stuart Weitzman boots! The prices there were insane, some were 70% off the retail, so even though I spent money, I saved much more!

The village itself is beautiful too, it’s really quaint and dainty, yet very fancy and posh. I would go back for sure, hopefully in the Autumn, but I was looking for a different way to get there. The drama was because we had to get 3 trains there and 3 trains back. The first train was fine, the second was heavily delayed, then so packed out that we were standing crammed in like sardines with no air con on a 30C day, which was awful, but I powered through it, then the 3rd train was ok. The morning before leaving, I had a very bad stomach as it had been playing up the last few days, which meant I couldn’t keep any food down, so I had to essentially starve myself for the day in order to be able to go out and enjoy my time shopping, but what I have found, instead of dwelling on things like this and getting upset about them ruining my day, I now look at the positives and just accept that things like this happen, it’s your choice to then see the positives and work around them. Having a good day is in your mindset and how you react to situations, so I didn’t let any of it bother me and I had the most wonderful time, working around the obstacles and coping with the stomach pains.

We The Curious Planetarium

This was sort of a surprise. Adam told me we would be doing something space related as I’m a huge space nerd, and he took me to We The Curious in Bristol for an evening showing of the summer stars. It’s a 3D planetarium and we got to have a virtual experience of the night sky, the planets you can see, and everything. It was truly amazing! Again, I have put some of the videos and photos on my Instagram in a Planetarium highlight, so check out that to find out more! If you love nerdy things and enjoy the cosmos, I recommend it for sure. I had the best time there! I definitely want to go again, so this was a brilliant present, thank you Adam!

Dinner and Birthday Cake

As I had starved myself all day after Bicester, I decided to pick up some Wagamama take out on the way home at around 7:30pm as I was starving. I love their food and I have the Yaki Soba with rice noodles so it’s gluten free for me. It’s delicious! Then, as you can see by the cake, I made it! I was struggling to find a gluten free birthday cake with no cornflour, so I made it. There’s a highlight for this on Instagram too and if anyone want’s the recipe, just let me know! It turned out amazing, so delicious! I’m still shocked I managed to make this! I’m not a good cook at all!

My Main Birthday Present

And finally, my present! You all knew that I had purchased the Mulberry Lily in Oxblood in advance when it went in the sale, and I was going to put the money I received towards it, so that’s what I have done! I’ve used the money from relatives and Adam to pay for part of the bag as a gift for my 30th birthday. I love it! I will be doing a review of it in a couple of weeks time for you. I did get a couple of other things like a t-shirt, a birthday bear, some face stuff, and a mini Cambridge Satchel, but I wanted the focus to be on this bag as it’s the big main present. I love everything I received though and am really lucky to have had one of the best birthdays! I hope you liked the post, and don’t worry, that’s it, no more birthday posts, ha ha! Looking forward to your comments below. Lorna xx.

Thank you so much 😀 That’s so kind of you to say it doesn’t look home made! Yay!

Wow Lorna – that cake looks amazing! 😀 So, yes, I’d love to know the recipe… I’m really impressed. Not sure you can keep saying that you’re not a good cook now though… you’ve kind of just proven that you are one. 😀 I know that feeling… I used to think I couldn’t cook or bake until I actually tried and found that I can do and that I enjoy it.

If cooking and baking ever becomes a bigger part of your life then I hope you’ll show us the results… or, at the very least, show *me* the results. 😀 LOL Do you have any photos of your birthday cake showing the inside? How was the texture? (Sorry if you’ve posted such on Instagram already and I’ve not seen… I’ve been absent lately with one thing and another).

That photo of you in front of the star field scene is gorgeous! It almost looks as though you planned your outfit with that moment in mind! Though I know that’s rather unlikely. 🙂

Anyway, I’m really happy to read that you had such a lovely birthday. You deserved it. 😀

That was only because the recipe was easy! I linked it to someone else in a reply, so you can have a look at it! I also send you a few photos on Instagram 🙂 Maybe I might start doing some more baking. I can experiment with gluten free recipes for cakes! That will be fun, so if I do that more, I might include it sometime. And it does look like my cardigan matches, but you’re right, it wasn’t planned lol, I didn’t even know that wall was there!
