A Fashionable Winter Street Style Outfit

The Zara Shearling Biker Jacket With Thigh High Boots

Happy 2018 everyone! I can’t believe it’s the 3rd of January already and it was only Christmas yesterday. It’s crazy! I first want to start out by saying that I hope everyone is safe after all these horrible storms we’re having in the UK. I know a lot of you are without power and have been flooded, so my thoughts are with you all, as they are with those homeless at this time of year. I know you all take time out of your day to read my fashion and lifestyle blog on a regular basis, so just know I’m appreciative of that. I was quite shocked when my views almost doubled on Christmas day, so I’m honoured to know you took your holiday time and caught up on Raindrops of Sapphire. Without you, I wouldn’t have just hit 4 million views, which is outstanding. I never like to come across as bragging or showing off about this kind of stuff, so I rarely mention it, but I wanted to start 2018 off with giving thanks to you all for making this possible! It’s humbling.

Anyway, getting to my outfit, and sticking to my new years resolution of re-wearing my pieces and trying not to buy new, I think I’ve managed it! You might remember this Zara Faux Shearling Biker Jacket from a previous post in November and I’m styling it again! This time instead of going with grey skinny jeans and snake print boots, I’ve opted to wear it with my MOTHER Skinny Jeans, tucked into my Ted & Muffy Empress Thigh High Boots, finished off with my Chanel Wallet On Chain Bag and a Topshop scarf. All of these items I have worn before, especially the boots and scarf as I’m getting so much use out of it! It’s very Burberry-esque, but without the price tag or cashmere. I did also have on my Urban Outfitters Gloves here as it was literally freezing. When Adam and I shot these photos it was 0 Celsius outside so it wasn’t comfortable! Then in some shots you can see my GAP Velveteen Roll Neck Top (plus a billion layers underneath).

As you know from my previous post about this Zara coat, it’s quickly become one of my favourites. It’s a size XS and I’ve seen numerous people with it, even guys as Adam wore one and another male fashion blogger, as well as a girl I spotted on the train a couple of weeks ago. It’s a fantastic coat and I recommend it! As it’s so neutral, it goes with everything and is incredibly flattering too. You’re definitely going to be seeing it worn more than just twice, that’s for sure! I know my Chanel bag is quite expensive as well, so I’ve added in cheaper alternatives. Zac Posen does some very similar Earthette bags (I have one) and they are fantastic! Plus, I’ve been thinking about a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots for years! I know I have these Ted & Muffy ones, but a brown pair of SW’s have been a dream for a long time, so maybe I might end up using one of my allowed 3 purchases for 2018 on a pair of those! What do you think?

Now you may notice that there’s a poll just below and that’s because I want your opinion on this outfit and whether or not you prefer it with or without the scarf? I had the scarf as it was freezing and I liked the added element it gave to the overall look, making me look taller, but you couldn’t see my bag when I wore it, so I took photos of this look with and without the scarf. I liked both so chose to include them both and get your opinion on it instead! As always, please do let me know what you think of my outfit in the comments below! Lorna xx.

Congratulations, Lorna, for the views – you totally deserve many views! I know, I thought the same today… the middle of the first week and Christmas seems to be sooo long ago… incredible! I also think of the Severn river and homeless people, yes… when it floods, many lose so much in one second… it’s sad 🙁 Let’s hope the weather gets better! I loved your jacket and your boots! You look always fabulous! I voted – I don’t want to be cruel, a scarf is needed, but I loved the jacket so much that I voted no scarf, although with the scarf it is also beautiful! Happy new year again, hope you achieve all you planned this year!!!! Hugs!

Thank you so much, Denise! And no problem at all, I understand your opinion is no scarf, it’s why I asked and included both options 🙂 You’re always so kind, I appreciate your support!

Seems like every blogger I follow vowed to rediscover their stash instead of buying new ones which is such a refreshing thing to see. I am on the same path and I hope I can continue doing so teh whole year.

Hi Ian! Hopefully I do, I’ve got some appointments lined up which I think will help, seeing some specialists. Just saving up for the appointments. With regards to the Stuart Weitzman boots you’re on about, which ones? I don’t think I’ve seen red?

If you go to their web site boot model, the lowlands are in a few colours and the tiemodle are in red and black leather and may be other colours . Both pairs would go with your style take care Ian

Love the scarf! I think it completes the outfit (in my uneducated fashion opinion) 😉
Do the long boots keep your legs warm in zero degrees or are they more for the aesthetic of the outfit?

      Thanks, Amie! 😀

The boots actually work both ways, they do keep my legs warmer as they stop the wind chill getting through the denim, and they’re for complementing the outfit. I do notice a difference when I just wear jeans, my legs are freezing cold as it goes through the fabric, but with the leather boots it doesn’t get through, so it is definitely warmer!

I’ve voted for the “With scarf” version. It’s the perfect mix of colours to go with the jacket and the boots. Not only does it look good but it also looks right – in terms of the weather conditions that you took the photos in. I can see it’s a bit chilly just from the photos. 🙂 It’s really good to see these great repeat items again. 🙂

Also congratulations on your 4 million views. 🙂 That’s a terrific milestone and a great testament to your work. I can completely understand your views being high on Christmas Day. All those people sat in their living rooms after Christmas dinner with their phones and tablets to hand… A kind of new tradition developing! 😀

I’m glad you like it 🙂 I think the scarf looked best too, it was my favourite version, but I wanted to see what others thought and to show the underneath aspects of the outfit too.

I was thinking the same, I imagine a lot of people were bored on Christmas day with the spare time and waiting around for family etc, I imagine a lot of phone usage did go on, ha ha 🙂 I’m honoured to be included in that browsing!

      • January 11, 2018 / 12:09 am

Yes, on Christmas Day we exchanged presents, then had Christmas dinner… then there was an empty space until Doctor Who came on. 😉

I was surprised by how close the vote was between scarf and no scarf though. Interesting. 🙂

I was surprised too, I think a lot of people might like to see the bag as well I guess, or aren’t into scarves as much?

I think I like this outfit better without the scarf. I like how the black of your top and boots matches. 🙂 But both ways look fabulous! And I LOVE your boots! They’re so beautiful!

Lorna you look fabulous and I adore your ensemble! I’m definitely in favour of fashion bloggers re-styling their clothes in myriad ways, as that’s only realistic, and shows greater creativity! I actually like it when I visit blogs and see a photo shoot with a garment that’s been shown on the blog before, but has been styled in a completely different way. I find it’s true to life, and it’s amazing how different the same item can look with different accessories and a new backdrop.

These boots look amazing on you, and the jacket is beautiful. It’s a really versatile piece. I hope you were able to warm up and de-freeze yourself after this photo shoot. I liked both looks almost equally, but in the end I voted for the look with the scarf, as I love the check print and it looks so soft.

    Lots of love Saba xx

Thank you so much, Saba! So pleased you liked how I styled it for the second time and I’m also happy you like the re-styling of pieces as you’re going to be seeing that quite a lot now. I’ve got 2 more looks planned with this coat already!
