The Topshop Colour Block Coat

The Topshop Colour Block Coat Outfit

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend. I have definitely been enjoying some of the warmer weather that’s been creeping up on us. I went out on Saturday for a walk with Adam and it was actually warm for once. It was 10 Celsius, but compared to the temperatures we have been having, I felt like I could go out in shorts, ha ha.

For this outfit shoot, I was wearing this gorgeous Topshop Colour Block Coat (size UK 6) with my Oasis Grey Jumper, my Hudson Barbara Skinny Jeans in Bazooka, my RAYE Grey Heels, and my Chanel Wallet On Chain Bag (buy Chanel here). This photo shoot was a lot more muted than what I usually do, as the only pop of colour (from the front) I had was lilac from the Colour Block Coat, as the background was dull too because I wanted to capture the grey effect.

I don’t usually go for such statement coats like this with multiple colours on them, especially not when they’re smarter looking, and longer in length, as sometimes it can be overwhelming, but I have to say this Topshop coat is anything but. It’s fantastic isn’t it? It might be bold, but it’s pastel toned so it’s easy on the eye. I kept everything else in complementing colours so that the coat was the focal point of the entire outfit, but there’s one hint of colour as the back strap is bright yellow, which you only see if you turn around. Cool, right? What do you think of the outfit?

What I Was Wearing:
Coat – Topshop
Knitwear – Oasis (similar)
Jeans – Hudson
Shoes – RAYE (similar)
Bag – Chanel

If I had this jacket I wouldn’t know whether to walk backwards or forwards- the front has fab colour blocking detail and then the back has that mauve (?) coloured belt (that’s not a belt, but Lord knows the actual name!). You can always count on Topshop for great and affordable outerwear. Have a good start to your week hon. ( :

The back strap is yellow, mauve is a purple lilac shade ( : You definitely can count on them for unique pieces though!

Dear Lorna, you look really amazing! I loved this coat, since I love “mismatched” things – one side of the coat is different from the other and has a yellow bridge on the back – looovely, I really liked it! The shoes are also amazing and I think you look very beautiful! So good that the weather is better, now it will be spring soon! I hope you have a very nice day, enjoy the nice weather!

I really didn’t expect to like a colour-blocked coat, but that one works. (Or maybe it was the astute selection of companion pieces.)

I don’t normally go for statement jackets either but how could you not go for that coat?! It’s darling!

Even though I’d read the text first the bright yellow on the back of the coat still took me by surprise! ๐Ÿ˜€ I like it though – not just the yellow but the whole coat, I mean. It’s quite a complicated looking coat but certainly not in an awkward way. The colours all work together and make sense – even the yellow. ๐Ÿ˜€

Wow… you posted this on Monday??? I’m so behind! :O

Thanks, Steven! I thought you might like it as it has grey in there too ๐Ÿ™‚ Yep, the weeks are going by so fast, it’s hard to imagine that it’s March next week ๐Ÿ™‚

      • February 26, 2017 / 5:52 pm

Yes, in March my little brother has his 40th birthday – that will make me feel old. Time will go by even faster… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes, I like the grey here very much. The whole coat is impressive though – I especially like how daring it feels even though the colours are relatively quiet ones. It’s really interesting to look at. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh wow, I can imagine! That’s crazy if you have ways of looking at it like that. It’s odd to me that my brother is 23 and I still see him as 5, ha ha!

What a great statement coat Lorna, it looks lovely on you xox

I am glad it’s getting warmer for you there… we had a nasty beginning of February where it seemed to snow forever… I But the last week and a half has been incredibly warm, melting all the snow… I have been loving all the sun and clear blue skies xox

This colour block coat is very striking Lorna, and the pastel panels are so pretty. The bright yellow stripe on the back gives an unexpected pop of colour, and is a nice contrast to the usual colours of winter. You’ve styled the coat beautifully, and I love your accessories and the complete look. I’m glad to hear the weather has finally warmed up in Bath. That must be a welcome relief after the long winter.

    Lots of love Saba xx
