Colours Of The Woods

Denim shorts and colours in the woods

Another day, another Summery outfit! We have been quite lucky that the temperatures have been warm enough (amidst the rain showers) to keep on wearing our warm weather clothes. We usually don’t get such a long stretch of hotter weather here in England, but times are definitely changing. Is it wrong of me to get excited about Autumn though? It’s my favourite time of the year, not just because I love the pretty hues from the trees and the crisp fresh air, but because of the fashion. Autumn fashion is the best! It’s funny because I often find myself not buying anything around the end of Summer at all, not consciously, but because I don’t want anymore Summery clothes and I guess I’m eagerly awaiting the cooler months, which is when I end up buying too much because I just love everything. Does anyone else do that?

Before I get to my outfit here, I think this is the first time (off of social media) that you’re seeing my hair this short! I had it cut again a few weeks ago and it now sits above my shoulders at the front and is a bit shorter at the back, as you can see. I’ve not cut my hair this short since I was little, so it’s definitely been a new experience for me, but I adore it! It’s so much easier for me to maintain, which is important. Do you like the new hairstyle? I’m definitely used to it now and I think it shows off the colour nicely.

Now getting to my outfit, I wanted to experiment a bit with layering here so I chose my PAIGE Jimmy Jimmy Denim Shorts to go with an ASOS Top, but layered my Topshop Sleeveless Duster over it for length. In all honesty, I will admit that I generally don’t like wearing shorts anymore as I have a couple of hangups about the backs of my thighs, so if I can wear something longer, I will. For my shoes and accessories, I chose my Kurt Geiger Carvela Platform Sandals and my Louis Vuitton Alma BB in Epi Fuchsia Leather.

Now, did any of you spot that gorgeous bracelet on my wrist? To match the fuchsia of my bag, I wore the Links of London 18kt Rose Gold Vermeil & Fuchsia Cord Mini Friendship Bracelet with some of my others stacked on my wrist. I love it! The Friendship Bracelet from Links of London is hugely popular at the moment, in various sizes, but I think the smaller size like mine is so elegant. I definitely recommend one, in whatever colour you want to choose, for a friend or for yourself. Since the bracelets are adjustable cord too, they fit any wrist perfectly. Isn’t it stunning? I feel like it really finishes my outfit off. I’d love to know what you think of my outfit, do comment and tell me!

Okay I LOVE your hair like that! I saw it on Insta and thought you had cut it. It is BEAUTIFUL on you!
I am totally on board with you about the Autumn dressing. Autumn and winter are my favourite seasons hands down. I love the colours, bundling up, feeling cosy and BOOTS. It is cool enough to start wearing next season’s clothes here (it snowed about two hours away from me earlier this week) so I have been transitioning. I’m holding off from wearing any boots until after labour day though- just because I know I will be stuck wearing them regardless, soon enough. I did take the plunge and wear a blanket scarf yesterday!
Great outfit and great post. And just to say, keep wearing shorts! They’re stunning on you and I’d kill for beautiful legs like yours! Hope you’re well! xoxo

ps- oh yeah! I was thinking of you yesterday! I bought some new Citizens Rocket Skinny in their sculpt denim. As someone who mainly just wears Rag and Bone, I have to say WOW! That denim might turn into another new favourite!

Thank you so much! Glad you like it, and love Autumn fashion too! It’s the best time of the year!

And so glad you love the COH Rocket! They are amazing aren’t they? Truly gorgeous jeans.

Your hair looks so lovely. πŸ™‚ I think this is very probably my favourite of your hairstyles that I’ve seen. πŸ™‚

It’s a great outfit. πŸ™‚ The denim shorts are such a pretty and rich shade of blue and all the other elements of the outfit compliment them perfectly. The jacket flows beautifully. πŸ™‚

I agree with you about Autumn – though maybe not for quite the same reasons! πŸ˜€ It’s my favourite season because, on the whole, I find the climate and weather conditions are more to my liking than those of the other three seasons. Though it terms of clothes I do like to be able to get my jackets and woolly hats out again! πŸ˜‰

Yeah, many like it because the temperatures are much better! I love that crisp, fresh air that has a chill to it, but the clothes are usually amazing! Really happy you love the hair though, thank you, Steven!

Great outfit & amazing location! I love how you combined the denim shorts with your Topshop duster. I completely understand your feelings towards autumn fashion, it’s just 100 times more beautiful than summer fashion and I’m really excited for colder days too xx

Me too! Thank you so much, really glad you like it!

Lorna, I love the Fall too but in the past few I have been quite the summer girl… mainly because I am so not fond of winter. Our summer here was so beautiful and I have enjoyed it a great deal this year… xox

I like your hair, it turned out great… it’s a nice length for you xox…. I think the idea of wearing a long cover up over shorts is a sweet way to be able to wear them and feel comfortable in them… xox

    • August 31, 2016 / 8:37 pm

Thank you, Launna! So glad you like it all! And I do understand that about Fall, Summer is a great time to be happy and it makes a change, especially for Brits, but I can’t help but love the fashion so much more.

  7. August 29, 2016 / 10:24 pm

Wow Lorna I’ve never seen your hair this short, and it suits you so well! It’s easy to get attached to long hair, but this chic new bob really highlights your cheekbones and looks so elegant and grown-up! I love it. The outfit is really sophisticated too, and I adore the stacked bracelets! The denim shorts look great on you, and you absolutely do not need to feel self-conscious about your legs!

    Saba xx

    • August 31, 2016 / 8:40 pm

Thank you, Saba! So glad you like it so much! I guess we all have our hang ups about our bodies, and my mum and Adam say I shouldn’t worry, but I guess we all are how we are, ha ha. Happy you love it though!

      • September 1, 2016 / 12:40 am

It’s my absolute pleasure Lorna! I know what you mean about those body image hang-ups most women seem to have. But I hope you can get past such hang-ups and have a more realistic view, as you are not only gorgeous, but doing something really worthwhile as well, which is based on your own merits! xx

        • September 1, 2016 / 12:42 am

That’s really kind of you to say so, Saba! Thank you so much! Do you have any yourself?

          • September 3, 2016 / 12:59 pm

The truthful answer is yes, lots of them! There are some areas I do feel disappointed about sometimes. But I try and focus my time and attention on things which are ability-based, rather than dependent on looks, such as my writing and other skills. I also try to keep things in perspective, as I know there are people with very serious problems in comparison. So that helps to keep me grounded. I hope this helps. xx

            • September 4, 2016 / 4:02 pm

Yeah that makes complete sense! There’s not much point in stressing over things you can’t change, when you can be working on things you can change!

  8. August 30, 2016 / 3:04 am

Well, maybe you don’t like shorts — but shorts apparently like you. πŸ™‚

    • August 31, 2016 / 8:40 pm

      Lol, thank you πŸ™‚

Autumn is my favorite season, too, girlie and I’m super excited for fall fashion and the beautiful leaves changing. The whole vibe in general is just amazing during the fall. I love your outfit, that duster vest looks so good on you and paired with the denim shorts and I also love those clogs! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful weekend, beauty!
