Liz Earle Natural Skincare Review

Liz Earle Naturally Active Skin Care Routine

When I was younger and first started getting into skin care, around the age of 13, my mum got me into Liz Earle. She used to use it back then and loved how naturally gentle it was, while making your skin hydrated, so she thought it would be great for my younger skin. I ended up loving it, but then as you get older, you tend to want to try everything as you get into skin care and make up, so naturally I branched out to other brands and sadly left Liz Earle behind, almost forgetting about it.

I’ve gone through so many different skin care brands that I can’t even list them, but now that I’m almost 28, I’ve drifted straight back to Liz Earle, and I honestly can’t even think why I ever went away from it. What was I thinking? I wasn’t, that’s for sure. I have been using the classic Liz Earle set for about a month now and honestly, within the first few days of going back to it, my skin has never looked better. It’s softer, much more hydrated and it’s plump. Everything it wasn’t before as it was looking tired, dehydrated and dull, which meant my make-up wasn’t sitting on my skin properly and would come off quite easily and sit in the grooves of my face, but now it remains put all day without problems, all because of my new skin routine.

I’m reviewing each, individual product in the Liz Earle set for you below, so you can learn all about them. Honestly, this post isn’t sponsored, these are my honest opinions, so you can believe me when I say I LOVE these products. I was sent 4 of these products to try out, and I was so happy to give Liz Earle a go again, I’ve decided to review it, but there’s 100% honesty in this post. So check out my thoughts below. In the mean time, you can buy Liz Earle online at Feel Unique.

1 – Cleanse & Polish

The Cleanse & Polish is Liz Earle’s original and multi award winning hot cloth cleanser, which removes daily grime and make up, suitable for every age and every skin type as it’s gentle. It’s plant based (naturally active ingredients include eucalyptus and cocoa butter) with a two phase action. It starts by cleansing. Free from mineral oil, it has a rich and creamy texture which removes all traces of face and eye make up, even stubborn mascara. The second step is the polishing. Polish off the cream using the pure muslin cloth to gently dislodge dead skin cells and help reveal clean, soft and radiant skin. I have been using a flannel or cotton wool to remove it as well, which works just fine!

Now, I actually wear a lot of make-up as I’m sure you have seen in my photos, so I tend to remove my make-up first with the Garnier Micellar Water (below) as I don’t want to waste my Liz Earle, and then I start with my Cleanse & Polish. Squeezing a pump out onto my fingers, I massage it into dry skin all over, like a cream, and then wash it off with warm water either on my cloth or cotton wool. It’s literally that simple. It’s really soft, creamy and silky actually, so there’s no drying of your skin or irritation at all. It’s lovely to use.

2 – Instant Boost Skin Tonic

Next up is the Instant Boost Skin Tonic which you apply straight after. It’s a lovely floral-scented, non drying toner, that refreshes, soothes and brightens up your skin. It’s incredibly gentle and alcohol free, so it works on my skin even though it’s sensitive. It even adds an extra layer of moisture as well so your skin doesn’t feel tight or dry. Since it’s naturally active, some of the ingredients are aloe vera to revitalise and soften, and calendula, chamomile, cucumber and natural source vitamin E to soothe and refresh your skin.

To use it, you simply pour some onto a cotton wool pad and sweep it over your face and neck after you have done the Cleanse & Polish. It doesn’t take long at all, and it’s really nice to use. I’m very sensitive to smells and thankfully this whole set isn’t strong at all – it’s mild and delicate. I love it!

3 – Skin Repair Moisturiser

This moisturiser is balanced for softening, smoothing and conditioning your skin for a naturally healthy-looking glow. It’s rich in naturally active ingredients, including borage oil (a rich source of the essential fatty acid GLA) and natural antioxidants beta-carotene and vitamin E to replace lost moisture and help protect against dryness. As you would with any moisturiser (we’re all familiar) you just massage it into your skin after the first two steps. I have normal/combination skin and I find I only need to use it sparingly because it’s very rich and creamy. It’s the moisturiser that I use at night time before I go to bed as it’s heavier than the day time one I have. It really does give your skin a beautiful, dewy glow.

4 – Skin Repair Light Moisturiser

This is a light and gentle, easily absorbed into the skin, moisturising lotion which is ideal for combination, oily or problem skin, like I have. It’s the one that I use in the morning, under my make-up. It’s finely balanced with a blend of naturally active ingredients including the borage oil, and natural antioxidants beta-carotene and vitamin E, just like the non light version above. The reason I use this one for the morning is because it’s a much lighter version, so it sits better under my make-up. If you have dry skin though, I don’t recommend this one, but for oily or problem skin, it’s amazing! It offers enough hydration without feeling too heavy for day wear.

5 – Super Skin Eye Cream

And last but not least in the Liz Earle collection is the Super Skin Eye Cream! Now this.is.amazing! I’m not hugely familiar with eye creams as I haven’t tried many before in the past, but from the first moment I tried this one, I was hooked! It’s a luxuriously hydrating cream, enriched with the Liz Earle renowned Superskin botanical blend of rosehip, borage and cranberry seed oils, plus powerful naturally active ingredients like pomegranate fruit, green tea, and alfalfa extracts. It’s designed to visibly lift and firm the delicate eye contour, while also reducing the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. And… it does just that!

Like I said, from the very first application, the darkness and puffiness under my eyes pretty much went away, even if my nights sleep has been bad. I can’t say for wrinkles as even though I’m 28, I haven’t developed any crows feet or lines around my eyes, thankfully. My mum does sing its praises though and she’s 50, so it really is an amazing product. So much so, I’ve asked for another one for my birthday in a few weeks so that I don’t run out. Even if you only get one product from Liz Earle, you should make it this eye cream. I’m in love with it. You simply squeeze a tiny amount onto your finger tip, pat both fingers on each hand together to distribute the cream, then dot it under your eyes following the contours, and finally blend it from the inner eye to the outer eye and around the area of crows feet. Super easy!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

So that’s everything on the Liz Earle collection above, but this is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water that I use to remove my make-up. You simply apply it to a cotton wool pad and wipe off all of the days make-up, including the eye area. It’s really soft and gentle, has no scent at all, and it’s so easy to use. For its price, I was extremely skeptical, but I actually ended up getting a free sample of it when I ordered some make-up a while ago, and since then, I’ve been hooked. I haven’t found anything better than this at removing make-up, it’s that good. I am a firm believer in you pay for what you get, so I try to make investments and wiser choices, but this product is definitely one that breaks the mould entirely. It’s worth the £1 (when it’s on offer). You can buy a larger version of this cleansing water online at Feel Unique for only £3.35.

– That completes my review on Liz Earle, and like I said, these are all my own thoughts and opinions about why I love it so much. I’m very much into natural ways of life, so having a skin care regime which is naturally active is a plus point for me. It’s so gentle and hydrating! I’m happy with all of these products here since they don’t have strong smells, but my mum does have the super balm and oils, as well as hand cream, and these are much more heavily scented, which I’m not overly fond of, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to strong smells too. Otherwise, this set is perfect! The products can be quite pricey to buy on their own, so if you want to check out the offers for Liz Earle sets on their website (they have a new one each month) you can check that out here. Lorna xx.

Wow these products sound amazing Lorna! Like you, I tried Liz Earle skincare a long time ago, but didn’t use them consistently as I also like Nivea and Thalgo products. The cleanse and polish face wash is quite nice to use with the muslin cloth that comes with it. I’ve also seen Liz Earle featured on the QVC channel quite often, but individually, the products are a little pricey, especially as I like to be sure something suits my skin first. But your review is really helpful and detailed, so I’m inclined to give them a try!

Do you use the day cream when you’re out and about, or a different day cream with SPF in it? Only I wasn’t sure if this day cream contains sun protection as well.

Actually, I use my make-up as SPF. I use a Barbara Panagos foundation and it’s SPF 30, so I don’t use any extra. The Liz Earle doesn’t have any SPF protection in it, so you would need one on top 🙂 It really is amazing though, my skin is now so soft and supple, it’s like new skin 😀

Wow that sounds amazing Lorna, and you’ve been looking great as always! Liz Earle herself looks very glow-y doesn’t she?! It’s a great idea to layer up products to give the ideal level of sun protection. It’s important even on cloudy days! I’m glad to hear these products worked so well for you.

She does look amazing, especially given her age! No way does she look her age, so I guess it does prove the products work well, ha ha! And yeah, I use SPF every day, even in winter!

          • July 17, 2016 / 11:12 am

She certainly does look radiant, which is a great advertisement for her own skincare line! That’s so true about the sun protection, I only wish that sun protection cream didn’t make me look so shiny!

Gosh, I know! It really can! My make-up is powder, so there’s no shine thankfully. Maybe you can get a powder SPF?

This brand is well known and many love it! I must be the only one who has yet to try anything from them though but it’s definitely in my list to try in the future….if I ever finish the amount of skincare that I have now.

I only used one product from Liz Earle and it is cleanse and polish, I loved it! I definitely want to explore more of that brand! Also Garner micellar water is my favourite, it is so easy to remove the makeup and it is so cheap!

Thanks so much for this review, Lorna! I went and purchased their gift set and I’m on day 3 of using this stuff – amazed at how great my skin looks already!! I tend to experience facial weakness, but all that massaging and plump skin from these products seems to have woken up the muscles 🙂
