There’s A Snake In My Boots

ALLSAINTS Manson Vest with Grey Skinny Jeans

As a little update to begin this post, I wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who has offered me support and kind words during my course of treatment. I finally finished the 9 tablets a day for 14 days yesterday, but it’s still going to take a while for me to feel better. Currently I’m not feeling any better as it’s up and down, and I’m still suffering the side effects of the antibiotics, which are highly unpleasant. I’m trying to go gluten free for a while now and I avoid dairy anyway, so anything I can do to keep my stomach lining from getting inflamed, I’m going to try. I’m taking probiotics and eating fruits and vegetables to make sure I’m getting as much nutrition as I can possibly get, but it’s definitely a tough time. I can only hope that I’m better for July when Adam and I go to St. Ives again.

We shot these photos a little while ago and I quite like how they turned out. You know how much of a fan of grey I am and I always tend to live in my J Brand Maria Jeans in Dove, but I always look for different things to pair them with. I wore this new ALLSAINTS Manson Vest in Porcelain White which I had been eyeing up for a while and I think it goes perfectly with the jeans. It’s such a unique shape and design (Adam isn’t a fan as he calls it a cricket top!) but I think it’s extremely flattering and it will be great under jackets too for when the weather cools down. The last two times I have worn my Ted & Muffy Snake Print Medusa Boots, I have worn them with these grey jeans, so I thought why not make it a third time?

Now getting to my accessories, I actually wanted to keep things really simple, but pretty. I chose my Louis Vuitton Alma BB in Fuchsia Epi Leather as I haven’t worn this beautiful bag in a while now (due to the weather) so it was about time she made an outing. I did have to take my handbag raincoat with me though as it did start to rain unfortunately, and that thing is a life saver! Then, for my jewellery, I just opted for two of the same bangle bracelets that I got from Topshop. Each one is unique as the stones are all different, but they are incredibly stunning! They are a metallic, iridescent rainbow and reflect all different colours. I had to buy two of them because one just wasn’t enough! I’m glad I did as they have now sold out. I also have the matching ring and necklace to go with them. I’m like a moth to a light when it comes to rainbow sparkly jewellery!

And I do apologize for the crotch area of my jeans not fitting quite right and in some photos being edited out. This is purely because with my stomach as bloated and sore as it is, I can’t actually wear any jeans buttoned up anymore because it’s too painful, so I have to use that old elastic band trick around the button and the hole to keep them closed. I barrel through though and get the outfits done. What a sorry state to get in! But, I definitely, 100% recommend this ALLSAINTS Manson Vest to you. It’s one of my favourite purchases! If you like it, it’s worth it! All my shopping links are either in the name of the item above, or below after my photos. What do you think of my outfit?

I think the vest is gorgeous and is a perfect pairing with those beautiful grey jeans. I completely agree with you about how unique it is and I also agree with you that it’ll look great with a jacket too. Do you have a particular jacket in mind? You might be trying that sooner rather than later with this yo-yo weather. 😉 I think it’s actually one of the prettiest tops that you’ve worn. 🙂

I can see where Adam is coming from with his cricket comparison but, even though I don’t like cricket, I think it’s fine for fashion designers to take inspiration from thAT extremely boring game and turn an aspect of it into something really cool and attractive – if that was, indeed, their thought process… who knows? LOL Either way it’s fun and quirky and I almost always love your quirkier choices. 🙂 Oh, and three cheers for a colour name that makes sense! Porcelain White! Absolutely! 😀

I’m sorry to read that you are struggling with the side effects of your medication. I really hope that you feel much better soon. Good for you for battling on through it and making this post though. 🙂 Take care, Lorna. 🙂

Hi Steven! Thank you for a lovely comment again, I always wait for your thoughts! I really love the top too and think it’s one of my favourites. I am thinking it will go great with a black leather jacket actually? And I know, Porcelain White, does actually make sense this time around, ha ha! Luckily, the past 3 days have been ok for me stomach wise too, so fingers crossed!!

As always, you are very welcome. 🙂 Oh yes, I can very easily imagine a black leather jacket working well with that top.

I’m so glad that you’ve strung together a run of better days. Stomachs are such troublesome things aren’t they? I think we all have certain foods and food types that we have to be careful with. My stomach isn’t very keen on the idea of me eating meat – so I pretty much don’t. That’s an easy thing to avoid. But I’d hate to be avoiding the things that you can’t have. That sounds tough. Anyway, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. 😀

Yeah, I suppose we just have to stick to what we can eat and get used to that. It definitely isn’t easy, but we have to do what we have to right? What happens to your stomach with meat?

Nothing really horrible happens. It just just sits heavily inside me and I feel bloated and very full for a day or so. I don’t avoid it 100% – I had meat in my birthday meal last month when I went to a restaurant with my family. I enjoyed the meal but I didn’t feel like eating again until almost a whole day later. 🙂 I guess, on average, considering eating out and eating with family or friends I probably eat meat maybe once a month on average.

That’s really interesting! I’ve never experienced that before! Or heard about it, so you really do learn something new everyday! I wonder if it’s because your body can’t digest it very well or very quickly? So the meat hangs around? 🙂

Could be. Or it could be that my stomach isn’t very used to it due to me not eating it much – as opposed to me not eating it much because of my stomach. A bit of both. I cut down on eating it years and years ago. 🙂

I am so sorry that you’re still not feeling well, Lorna and it must be really serious that you can’t even button up the jeans. I wouldn’t have noticed anything if you didn’t mentioned and honestly, I think the jeans fit you fine in all the pictures. Hopefully this passes soon and you won’t be in pain anymore. Btw, I love the top! It’s unique but very flattering as you said.

I really hope you get some relief soon… I’ve had minor bloating and stomach pain, I can only imagine how awful it is for you that it is ongoing for so long 🙁 ♡♡♡

You look absolutely stunning in this outfit, which I simply adore! Those bracelets are beyond beautiful, I would’ve never have guessed they were from Topshop! I’m also loving both your boots and bag, which really pop against the grey monochrome! I had a friend who had similar symptoms to what you’ve shared and it was endometriosis. I also had something similar but mine was due to dairy. Our bodies can be so sensitive and it’s like playing detective sometimes trying to figure out what’s going on, I really hope your symptoms go away! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead!

Thank you so much, Jalisa! So happy you love the outfit!

I have issues with dairy too, I can’t tolerate any of it. But this was something else, I think it was the stomach infection as the past couple of days seems to be going a lot better now, thankfully. Although I am avoiding gluten too, which seems to be helping. Maybe all this time I’ve been gluten sensitive!

  13. June 18, 2016 / 12:25 am

Wow Lorna what a foxy look! I adore this outfit, and the snakeskin boots are beyond fabulous! You’ve styled the whole outfit in a really edgy way, and I love the Topshop bangles with the very unique-looking stones. It’s lovely the way they catch the light and have lots of different tones in them.

I’m sorry to hear your stomach was causing you discomfort when these pictures were taken. I never noticed anything weird about the fit of your jeans over this area. I’m glad to hear you finished the course of dreaded antibiotics. I hope you get well very soon, and have no further pain.

p.s – You said in a past post that you weren’t happy with your biceps. However, I think you look strong and sassy, and that’s definitely a good thing!

Hi Saba, thank you so much. I’m really glad you like the outfit and I appreciate the lovely, thoughtful comments as always. I actually have part of my fly missing on the torso photo, ha ha. I had to blur over it! But it’s good that nobody notices, it means I did a good job! And yeah, my biceps are genetically pretty large, so when they are tensed they are very muscular, but when they aren’t, they just look large, ha ha!
