My Week in Burnham-on-Sea, Cardiff and Cheddar

As you know, last week I got to spend the entire week with Adam (which is a rarity) and we decided to make the most of it. That meant going to Burnham-on-Sea beach and town for a couple of hours on the Saturday, then heading to Cardiff in Wales on Sunday until Monday, resting on Tuesday, going to Cheddar Gorge on Wednesday and then heading to the Ted & Muffy event on Thursday, before he left to go home Friday morning. It was a pretty busy week for me and other than having a really bad day on Monday with too much walking and getting quite sick, I managed to do ok which I am pleased about. I really love being able to explore new places and do cool things! I’ve compiled this together as a photo diary type of post, so you can see and read everything below.

Shopbop Friends & Family 25% Off Sale!

I also wanted to quickly mention that from now until Friday, Shopbop are having their bi-annual Friends & Family Sale which gives you 25% off! All you need to type in is the code INTHEFAM25 at the checkout and you will get the discount off of your basket. There are a few brand exclusions, but the majority of everything is included in the sale, so definitely don’t miss out! Now is absolutely the time to take advantage of the new jeans, knitwear, boots and bags you have been eyeing! Things are selling out quite quickly though, so make sure you shop it now! Head to the Shopbop sale here.

Burnham-on-Sea

There were only a couple of photos from Burnham-on-Sea as the trip there was quite short. My mum and I drove down there to pick Adam up actually and bring him back here, so we stayed there for a couple of hours to look around the little town and get some yummy lollies from the little old sweet shop. The beach there is nothing like St. Ives which is actually blue, it’s quite grey and brown, but it’s a nice, quiet place.

Cardiff, Wales

These photos were taken from Cardiff Bay in Wales. We walked there on the Monday to go to the Dr. Who exhibition that I wanted to see. I’m secretly quite nerdy when it comes to super hero and sci-fi things and Dr. Who is one of my favourites. We got to do a mini trip/experience, which was really more for children as I found it quite awkward, but I liked the museum. Getting to see all the Tardis’ they used as well as the Daleks, costumes, props and more was amazing. I absolutely love the Tardis, I even want it as my iPhone case but I can’t find one suitable! We then ate some lunch in Gourmet Burger Kitchen before heading back to get the train home.

topshop-cardiff

This was the view from the top of the stairs in Topshop in Cardiff. I think it must be their flagship as the store was absolutely huge! I loved it! Everything was spaced out nicely too with lots of open areas so it wasn’t crowded and they had other brands like the Oxford Circus one does. I wish mine was like that!

parc-hotel-cardiff-wales

This was the lobby of The Parc hotel that we stayed in. It was really, really nice. We got to have the deluxe double room as it was on deal, so it was more than half price off. It was really quiet too so we got a great nights sleep and enjoyed our time there. It’s definitely a hotel I recommend if you need one in central Cardiff.

Finally from Cardiff, this was our food that we ate at Henry’s Cafe & Bar. It was located opposite our hotel, so it made sense to eat there. It was really quiet, the waiters were lovely and the food was nice too so that was a bonus! After eating, we spent the evening in the hotel watching the TV, so it was quite relaxing before the crazy Monday the next day.

Cheddar Gorge

Cheddar is a place that I used to visit a lot when I was a child. My gran and grampy used to take me there regularly as it’s only about 45 minutes away. We used to go for lunch, to look at the caves and go around the gift shops. A lot has changed since then and I suppose it would seeing as that was over 15 years ago now. The talking farmer and dog puppets have gone, the cheese mill wasn’t open, neither were a lot of the shops I used to remember so it was really sad for me actually, but there were still a few things I remembered there. I wasn’t able to go in the cave as you have to pay for an entire package, which I wasn’t going to do, but I did see the old waterfall I remembered too.

We shot an outfit set on the cliffs as well, but it was so cold and windy! The highlight of this though was that we saw a guy get down on one knee up on the cliffs and propose to his girlfriend. She said yes of course, so that was beautiful. Then driving home, all of the mountain goats were in the road, just casually strolling along and blocking the cars. It was hilarious, I almost had to get out and move them, which I would have loved as I adore goats, but they did get out of the way finally. Have any of you been to Cheddar before or visited the Dr. Who exhibition in Cardiff?

It looks like you guys had an amazing time! We’re planning a short vacation at the beginning of November, but don’t know yet what we’ll be doing.
That beach reminds me of Portugal…I used to live near the beach over there and that’s one thing I really miss about the country..

You look lovely in every picture, it’s really good to see you smile 🙂

Thank you so much 🙂 We did have a nice time, it’s always good to make memories. I do smile a lot, actually all the time lol. I just try not to in the photos as it’s not very professional, ha ha! I would miss Portugal too if I grew up by the beach and in warm weather!

As you know, I went to the Doctor Who experience in its former location at Olympia, London. I’m not sure what it says about me but I didn’t feel at all awkward doing the adventure bit. I guess I just reverted back to being about 11 years old for the duration of it. 😉 LOL Mind you, my brother was one of the people I went there with and he’s just as big a fan as I am so we must’ve both been like big kids let loose in the sweet shop. 😀

This is such a great collection of photos, not just the DW ones (though they are my favourites) but all of them. So glad you had a good time.

Thank you! Yeah, it might be because you are an extreme fan and a guy, I think girls tend to see things a little differently, ha ha!

Could be, but it might also be because my DW fandom began in my childhood. 🙂 I started watching it in 1984. 😉

Such tremendous photos and descriptions, thank you very much for sharing! I have never been to Cardiff, but in CA’s San Diego region they do have a town called, “Cardiff-by-the-sea,” somehow I think it must have been named after this fantastic place 🙂 Also, this ShopBop thing has been popping up everywhere! They certainly having an excellent presence!

Yeah, Shopbop are amazing! Their Friends & Family sale is something everyone waits for, ha ha. Super popular! I think it might have been named after it too, I know there’s a London over there and a Birmingham too, like us 🙂
