Sunsets In Lace

A lace top and vintage denim shorts in the sunset

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! The weather has definitely been a lot nicer lately, which makes a change! Although I’m sure it will rain on my birthday in a couple of weeks time like it always does! With it being so warm though, I’ve been able to wear a lot more denim shorts and less layers, so I’m quite enjoying the change of clothing options that I have available to me right now! One thing I have noticed though is that I tend to keep living in my vintage Levi’s denim shorts. They seem to be what I gravitate towards the most lately. Maybe because they are so classic, but who knows!

Anyway, for this look here that I wore last weekend in the wild fields at sunset, I paired my shorts with an older Topshop lace top that I have had for a few years and my Topshop buckle clogs too. I’ve had both pieces for a while and even though they aren’t available anymore, there are still some almost identical pieces around (check the links below) so you can wear the same! For my accessories, I opted for my Michael Kors Selma messenger bag and then finished off with some various bracelets, my Olivia Burton humming bird watch and hung my Ray-Ban aviators on my bag.

The thing with my summer clothes is that I don’t often get a chance to wear them as much as I would like, so I tend to wear pieces from my wardrobe that are older and I’ve had for a while. Unlike my autumn and winter clothes of blazers, jumpers/sweaters and jeans, I’m never graced with the suns presence long enough to wear them all! I know you fellow Brits or cooler weather fashion bloggers and readers will understand! Anyway, let me know what you think of my outfit as always! Don’t forget you can shop the pieces I’m wearing in the links just under the second image!

Your pictures are so lovely, you look so beautiful! I know what you mean about the sun, though in the Midlands (t where I moved), people make fun of me when I say I prefer autumn. But anyway, I loved your top! And Levi’s is a great brand, I love it! So sweet clogs as well! I hope it doesn’t rain on your birthday, I will keep my fingers crossed!

Loving the Bohemian vibe of this look. That top is gorgeous! I know what you mean about trying to max out your old pieces, that happens for me a lot when it comes to work attire vs. casual looks. I’m cloaked in skirts and button downs all the time so I max out my favorite casual tops/skirts as much as possible.

I don’t blame you! I would do the same thing if I had to wear smart wear all the time! Glad you like the look!

Oh, these are fabulous photos and you look stunning in that outfit. Love it. 🙂

Something quite interesting has just struck me about this photo shoot as I’ve looked through for the second time. What really grabs me about this collection is that, although it’s clearly a hot and sunny day, you’ve opted to not show any sky at all in any of these pics! So that leaves your denim shorts as the only blue item – which is then, of course, where the viewing eyes are immediately drawn to. A very ingenious way to showcase the shorts, I reckon. 🙂 It works brilliantly.

I hope you get decent weather for your birthday – the chances have to be in your favour really. 😉

Thank you Steven 🙂 Funnily, it wasn’t a choice. It’s very hilly and not very even in that field, so among the trees and bushes, there wasn’t an option to have sky showing really. Makes a change though doesn’t it? Thankfully the sky isn’t as dark as my denim shorts though! Ha ha!

    Hi Lorna,
Love the outfit. You clearly have a talented photographer too.
It’s such a refreshing change to find a high quality UK fashion blog driven purely by style.
This is my new favourite site!

I have to agree with the comment above, that you have your own style and it’s refreshing to see a fashion blog that is not knee deep with the latest trends. Stay real, Lorna, we love you just the way you are.

The lace top is super cute. I love the little bows. I also don’t get to wear my summer clothes as often as I’d love to, this year being an exception.

I totally understand you darling, while we have summer here in Canada it’s only for a month hot, that’s it so catching the good weather is a real hunt!
Loving your top and paired with this shorts makes it such a summery outfit!
