Getting My Make-Up Look On A Budget

Eyelashes

Make-Up wasn’t always something that was important to me when I was growing up in my teen years, in fact it’s probably only the last year or two that I’ve really got into wearing it properly. It wasn’t something that interested me before as I liked to have a natural look, but as I have gained more red marks on my face and have grown up and matured, it’s something that I’m very into now. I have sensitive skin so I only wear certain make-up, which can become quite expensive when bought all at once, so I was really excited to collaborate with tarte Cosmetics on this post and do a get my look on a budget piece.

Getting to my eyelashes first, I’m heavily into doing my eyes each time I go out as I have blonde eyelashes, so without mascara, they aren’t really visible. I can’t leave the house without it! I’ve mentioned before that I use the Benefit They’re Real Mascara to really boost my eyelashes in length and thickness, but there are some other great options out there too. One of the best waterproof mascaras that I have come across on tarte Cosmetics is the Lights, Camera, Splashes mascara, but they also do fibers to extend and thicken your lashes, which is something I add to my routine too, as you can see above. For those wondering about the rest of my eyes, I generally like to use a smokey grey palette, creating an ombre effect from dark grey to mid grey to silver, from the outer to the inner eye (similar here) and then I use a Mally grey or purple eyeliner, to make my green eye colour pop (similar here). This is how I do my eyes every single time I leave the house!

Foundation & Contouring

My foundation is a natural mineral pressed powder from Barbara Panagos in the lightest shade that she does, Beige, since I’m pale. This is great for my skin as I tend to suffer from spots, so it doesn’t clog my pores. This make-up can be pretty expensive though so this one looks really similar and it doesn’t look like it would clog your pores either, so that’s a bonus! As much as liquid does a better job at covering red marks on your skin, it’s just not as good at keeping your skin healthy, so I only use powder and I won’t leave the house without it.

Contouring is a recent thing that I have got into the last couple of months actually. Since I use a powdered mineral foundation, I don’t use the liquid bronzer or highlighter to contour, I use a powdered palette from Illamasque, however I have found a countour palette from tarte Cosmetics which actually features three different powders, including a blush, a bronzer and a highlighter so you are getting a great set there.

After learning how to contour and highlight via YouTube, I apply my foundation first and then the bronzer in the indentations of my cheeks from my ears to just before my lips, around my jaw line and chin, down the sides of my nose and around my hairline on my forehead. As for the highlighter, I apply this down the bridge of my nose, in my cupids bow, on the apples of my cheeks, above the bronzer lines and finally around my eyebrows and between them, to lift them up. I’m wearing it quite strongly in the photo above so you can really see how I use it. I can’t be without contouring now as it really defines the face.

Blusher

I generally don’t like to wear blusher since I’m quite pale and rosy cheeked anyway, however sometimes I do if I am going for a more English Rose look and want to look a little more girly. For this, I only apply a little bit of rose pink blusher on the apples of my cheeks and blend it in. It’s not a look that I go for often, but it’s one that I do think can look good when done right! The blusher that I usually wear is No. 7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush, but there’s a similar one here.

Lips

Now with my lips, I’m sure you have noticed that I vary them in most of my posts. Sometimes I like a nude lip, other times I like a really bold red lip and then sometimes I will choose a pink or coral colour instead. It really depends on my outfit and my mood, but I am a huge fan of the Pixi Lip Balms as you know! They last for ages and go on really well, but I have found some other similar lip crayons which you can see here. These look just as good!

I have recently started using a Laura Geller Spackle Primer too to make my make-up last longer, which actually does work well, but some of these ones look fantastic too and are tinted. So, that’s my make-up routine with similar products to create the look as well since a lot of you often ask about my make-up and what I’m wearing. I’m by no means an expert with make-up, but I have learned how to do lots of things over the last two years and I would say that now I am at a point where I am happy with how I do it each time I go out and I think I’ve managed to get it just how I like it! What are some of your favourite make-up products to use?

I only started to love makeup in 2013, I’m very late to the party. LOL! I never use bronzer for contouring, never get into it and it’s always the one makeup step that I skip. I agree with that Tarte mascara, it’s really brilliant!

It used to be something I skipped too until I realise how much it frames your face! I love it!
