(Skirt – Exact, Top – Exact, Shoes – Exact, Bow – Exact, Bracelets – Similar)
I’ve been experimenting lately with some more feminine looks, trying to avoid my usual go to of denim (yes, it is hard, ha ha!) and opt for some more girly pieces, but styling them in a way that’s me. When I saw this beautiful fifty’s inspired scuba skirt in wine on ASOS, I was absolutely smitten with it! I thought it was stunning and I knew just exactly how I wanted to style it. I’ve seen similar skirts like this on other fashion bloggers like Atlantic Pacific and I was never really sure how well I would be able to pull them off due to the length, but I think this one turned out perfect! I couldn’t help but spin around so it floated outwards, just like I used to do when I was a little kid in my party dress that I loved.
I decided to pair the skirt with a black off the shoulder crop top, also from ASOS, as I thought this would suit the style of it perfectly. I think the shoulder sleeves really give it that fifty’s vibe as well! I then paired the look with my Christian Louboutin Pigalle heels as the black tied in well with the top and these are one of my classiest pairs of shoes. I think they are timeless as well so no matter what era you are channeling, these will always be the right choice. I then threw on some of my gold and pearl bracelets that I often tend to wear and wore my pearl earrings from Azendi to complete the look.
Now for my hair, as you know I usually wear it down all the time, but I wanted to smarten up this outfit so I tied it in a bun and wore my new burgundy bow hair band over it, so the bow would show from the front as well. I never usually wear my hair like this and it was quite liberating actually having it off of my neck and face for once! So, what do you think of this outfit? I would love to know your thoughts! Wow Lorna you look so beautiful! A nice crinoline would give some poof to the skirt. I think this is a very flattering look for you. Personally I love the Asos midi skirts, but a dress with this type of skirt would look so pretty on you. Great post!

This is an absolutely gorgeous outfit and you look stunningly beautiful in it. Although it’s quite different to your more frequent looks it’s still very much in keeping with them too – what with the colour choices and the clever twists to the look. Definitely 1950s updated to now. 🙂
