The 83rd Academy Awards 2011 Oscars ceremony was held at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sunday 27th February 2011. The event was everything I expected it to be, being one of the biggest red carpet events of the year! There were so many famous faces and so many amazing dresses! I have piled all of my favourite ones in this post and included what they were wearing.
Jennifer Hudson (above and below) looked amazing! She reminded me a lot of a perfect barbie doll in her Atelier Versace bright orangey red gown and purple heels. I think the cut of this dress is stunning for her figure and it really flatters her. It’s definitely one of my favourites from the night!
Sandra Bullock was another celeb to walk the carpet in red. She opted for a bright cerise Vera Wang strapless dress which she finished off with Jimmy Choo Vita heels. This is definitely a look I love on Sandra, normally I am not that fond of her red carpet looks but this one is definitely an exception.
Mila Kunis looked like a Grecian Goddess to me in her lavender chiffon gown with tiered lace detailing and grosgrain ribbon waist band from Elie Saab Haute Couture’s line. The dress is feminine and simple but it still makes her look beautiful. Mila paired the dress with a Bottega Vaneta clutch and Neil Lane jewellery.
Natalie Portman looked so good! I saw these photos and I thought wow, purple is definitely her colour! She is glowing! I don’t just mean from the pregnancy either. She was wearing Rodarte’s Violet Silk Chiffon Draped Gown with Swarovski Crystals and she completed her look with Jimmy Choo heels, Tiffany & Co. jewellery and a Roger Vivier bag. I think it’s the perfect outfit.
Mandy Moore, the voice for one of my new favourite movies, Tangled, looked demure and sweet in a glitzy slim dress from Monique Lhullier. Mandy wore Chopard jewellery and Jimmy Choo Zafira heels to accessorize her look. This is definitely a simple and classic look which is perfect for The Oscars.
How gorgeous does Reese Witherspoon look here? She looks like she just stepped out of a painting. The black and white strapless Giorgio Armani Privé evening gown is just perfect for her petite body, the shape is so flattering. It has a silk band and a very small train. Reese accessorized with Neil Lane jewellery as well.
Gwyneth Paltrow looked glamorous but simple in a Calvin Klein dress and her Brian Atwood gold leather Martina heels for the evening. She also wore earrings, a brooch, and a ring from Louis Vuitton’s jewelry collection, L’Ame du Voyage. This dress reminds me of a space suit combined with a mermaid, but in a good way. It’s beautiful.
Anne Hathaway was another celeb to rock the red trend. She opted for a strapless Valentine gown for the awards show. This was one of 8 outfits that Anne had throughout the evening. This is definitely my favourite though. She normally has more slimmer dresses but this one is a great change, I love the pairing of the red lipstick to match.
I knew this was a Marchesa creation as soon as I saw it. Halle Berry was wearing a nude and crystal encrusted Marchesa corset gown with silk tulle ruffles and a pair of Christian Louboutin heels for her red carpet arrival. The fit of this dress is perfect for Halle’s figure, it goes in in all of the right places and the bottom of the dress makes it so feminine and princess like. I love it.
Cate Blanchett wore a dress that I am really undecided on, half of me says it looks terrible but the other half of me thinks it actually suits her. She wore a Givenchy Couture dress with yellow detailing on the back and she finished it off with Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery. I find it hard to believe Cate is actually 41, she looks fantastic.
Celine Dion chose a classic look for the 2011 Oscars. She opted for a Giorgio Armani Privé gown in a silk white look. It reminds me a lot of a bridal dress, it’s very pretty and it suits Celine’s style perfectly.
Jennifer Lawrence looked really hot in a bright red Calvin Klein dress which was custom made for her by designer Francisco Costa. I always think it’s really nice to get a dress completely made for you, that must be such a nice feeling to have the ultimate perfect dress. Jennifer wore a pair of Jimmy Choo New Lancer heels with Chopard jewellery and a Judith Leiber bag to finish the look.
Aishwarya Rai chose a bronze sequin embellished Giorgio Armani Prive gown with beaded detailing. I think picking bronze was a wonderful idea because it suits her hair and skin tone perfectly. It looks really flattering and it is just full of simplicity.
Amy Adams wore a L’Wren Scott blue sequin gown to the awards show. I’m very undecided on this dress, I adore the colour and the shape but I am unsure about the neckline, I feel it would have looked better with a lower neckline and strapless. Amy also wore $1.35 Million in Cartier emerald and diamond jewellery and finished her look with Ferragamo black satin shoes. Wow, I can’t believe she wore that much money in jewellery!
Scarlett Johansson graced the red carpet in a one of a kind dress by Dolce & Gabbana. I love the purple shade of the dress but I think the pattern looks slightly awkward around the neck line. It’s an amazing dress though. Scarlett paired the dress with Anna Hu studs and a ring and she also wore a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes.
Hilary Swank suprised me because I thought this dress would be a Marchesa gown but I was fooled. It’s actually a Gucci Premiere couture strapless floor length evening gown with a feather bottom. I love the ombre colour shading, the dark blue fading into a silver with grey hues is just amazing. Hilary also wore a pair of grey satin sandals which were embellished with crystals. I really love this look!
Penelope Cruz attended the red carpet event with her husband Javier Bardem. Penelope chose to wear a red patterned dress by L’Wren Scott which she paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and matching bag and some Chopard jewellery. I think this dress shows off her curves really well and I like the glitzy design.
Camila Alves didn’t pose for any photos without the gorgeous Matthew McConaughey. She wore a Kaufman Franco black dress which was quite revealing but so beautiful at the same time. She also wore Stuart Weitzman shoes, Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and a Kotur bag. Matthew is the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s fragrance so it’s not suprising he wore head to toe Dolce & Gabbana. His suit looks really good!
