How To Style A Smock Tunic Dress For Autumn

The Autumn Smock Dress With Knee High Boots

I am really excited to be sharing a three part series of outfit blog posts in collaboration with Blue Vanilla with you! This is the first post and I had so much fun shooting these photos with my mum last week. Isn’t the Autumn backdrop just gorgeous? It was the perfect scenery for this stunning Blue Vanilla Elena Smock Floral Print Tunic Dress!

Now I have never really worn this kind of dress before, a smock tunic has never been something that I gravitated towards, but as soon as I saw it on their website, I completely fell in love with it! Not only is the orange shade really vibrant and intense, it has a 70’s vibe that I think is really cool. It’s the perfect design for wearing with boots and accessorising this time of year. There’s a floatiness to it that allows it to hang and move freely with your body, making it incredibly flattering. Sometimes this amount of material without a slim fit can often overwhelm your body, but this dress hangs off the body perfectly. The cropped, bell style sleeves are a great addition to the design too, and the V neckline is incredibly flattering as it slims you down. I don’t think they could have designed this any better!

How To Style A Smock Tunic Dress For Autumn

For my outfit, I paired the Elena Smock Dress with my DUO Brown Suede Boots, my Louis Vuitton Mini Palm Springs Backpack, and a few pieces of gold jewellery, to set it off. The bold red lip, which is called Juicy by Bareminerals, really pops against the orange too. I wasn’t expecting this whole outfit to be my favourite of the three that I shot, but it definitely turned out to be, hence why I’m sharing it with you first! But, here are some tips on what I think works with a smock dress for Autumn and how you can successfully style it:

  • Pair it with tall or over the knee boots (heeled or flat is fine).
  • Wear it with a long length strap bag on one shoulder.
  • Layer jewellery on your wrists and fingers and opt for one dainty necklace.
  • You can belt the middle if you prefer a slimmer fit.
  • Pick more of a mature/Autumn design with a bold colour.

So, those are 5 tips on how to style this kind of dress in the Autumn months. Now you all know that I choose my collaborations wisely, and that’s the reason why I don’t just promote anything and everything. Blue Vanilla is one of those partnerships that I couldn’t be more excited about as I think their dresses are really good quality for their price point. Can you believe that this dress is only £26? That’s amazing! For sizing, it comes in S, M, and L, and I took size S which fits like a UK 8-10 with an oversized vibe. My mum actually ended up loving this dress so much that she’s getting one too, ha ha. It’s definitely an eye catcher, that’s for sure! It’s made of viscose, so it’s really lightweight and comfortable too! I honestly couldn’t recommend this dress enough to you! And as always, I would love to know what you think of the way I styled it? And what do you think of it? Let me know in the comments below! Lorna xx.

    Hi Lorna

What a beautiful dress, those colours are fabulous on you. I’m not usually a fan of orange / browns, but you wearing this make the except that proves the rule. It would’ve been nice to see you wear a belt with it to show the “either or” scenario. Maybe next time you wear it you can do a couple of extra pictures? Do you still have your tan hat you wore with your “country girl” outfit a year or two ago? I think that might go well with the dress too.

Oh, and I’m loving your shorter hair style, it really suits you. It’s classy and frames your lovely pretty face so well.

    Thanks for sharing

Hi Russ! Yeah I had an idea to do a belt with it as well, and my mum also suggested the brown hat! So you two think alike! I think that would make it even more 70’s! Glad you like it! And I’m happy you like my hair too!

a beautiful smock tunic dress, and knee length boots match it so well.
But to me, here there always winds, so I will wear a legging.
