Straight Out Of Bed

Topshop Striped Reworked Shirt With FRAME Le Boot Jeans

I named this post ‘Straight Out Of Bed’ because numerous people have commented how this Topshop Striped Reworked Shirt actually looks like a pyjama top. The more I looked at it and after seeing the photos we shot, I can see what they were saying and I do think it looks like a funky piece of sleepwear, but one that’s actually wearable outside! I actually got this shirt many months ago back in March and never showcased it on my fashion blog as I wasn’t sure how to best wear it, since it has an open back, but because I found it so beautiful and flattering to my body shape (surprisingly!) I had to keep it and figure out a way to wear it! So, a few weeks ago, that’s when I came up with this outfit here and I think it shows it off perfectly!

I paired my Topshop Striped Reworked Shirt with my FRAME Le Boot Jeans because I wanted something different to the usual skinny jeans that I wear. The off the one shoulder appearance and the uneven hemline (which looks like you buttoned it up incorrectly), coupled with the little fabric loops on the upper arms, and the contrasting colour, is really unique and I haven’t seen a top like it before! A cropped bootcut seemed like the ideal balance to even out the extra fabric on top and keep everything even. Plus, the fit of these is really nice and I adore the wash, so I thought it was the best pairing I could make. The blue denim suits the burgundy and navy on the shirt in a way that’s so complementary, and then adding in my Carvela Gorki Velvet Ankle Boots just tied that up nicely. The sapphire blue velvet is almost along the lines of the navy on the shirt, so everything matches.

As I mentioned though, this shirt does have an open back because of the split up the middle, so I decided I would be more comfortable if something was covering my back, which is why I went with my Zac Posen Eartha Reversible Backpack in Cream for my accessories. It’s big enough to cover, but it’s pretty and stylish enough to look chic, rather than like a casual backpack – it’s smart and classy instead, which is perfect. I then added in my RADO Open Heart Skeleton Watch as the rose gold and silver complemented the hardware and tones of the ensemble. You haven’t seen this watch yet as I bought it for my birthday (on finance from Earnest Jones here) and am completely in love with it. I love that you can see straight through to the inside! It was quite pricey, but not as pricey as the BVLGARI LVCEA Watch that I own. I will be doing a review on it next month though for you, but for now you can see it here!

In terms of the location, there’s always so many beautiful streets in the City of Bath, and this is one that we frequent quite often as it’s usually quiet (it’s a dead end) and it means we don’t have to keep waiting for people to move out of the shot. It’s ideal really and the fields behind it just add a nice pop of yellow and green to the red and blue that I was already wearing, which makes the photos all the more cheerful. But anyway, in terms of the outfit, I really hope you like it! I’d love to know what you think of the shirt though, is it something you would wear? Comment and let me know! Plus, happy Friday! Lorna xx.

It’s cool to see the bootcut jeans! They look great! The rip in the knees add to the look, giving the jeans some more character. As is usual, it’s a great post Lorna!

It is a very fun shirt – I like the mix of prints! 🙂 Denim is always a good go to when you’re not sure what to wear something with either, I think it’s a wardrobe classic that is always dependable! 🙂

Hope you are having a lovely weekend 🙂

I think this shirt is, possibly, the strangest item I have ever seen you wear in an outfit post. It’s utterly bizarre… but I 100% love it. 😀 It’s clearly designed to be very eye-catching and it’s also slightly disconcerting to look at too – but not in any kind of unpleasant way. It’s fun, it’s pretty and it’s clever too.

Does it feel physically strange to wear it? It looks to be made more for the observer than the wearer – if you see what I mean? 🙂

Anyway, brilliant photo shoot and great entry. I enjoyed this one very much. 🙂

Actually, it doesn’t feel strange at all! It’s quite comfortable, just feels different on the arms, but it’s really unique and cool! Glad you like it so much! 😀

Love that top. It admittedly looks like you hurried into your pyjamas because the fire alarm went off, but it’s impossible for anyone to ignore, and it might be the ultimate expression of the Off One Shoulder aesthetic. 🙂

It’s cool isn’t it? I think it’s so quirky 🙂 I’m not usually drawn to things like that, but I definitely was here!

Gorgeous outfit! Stripes are always a great timeless and staple style. Matched with a gold watch and delicate jewellery is the perfect way to finish it off!

This look is very eye-catching Lorna, and I love the blue and burgundy tones. The blue velvet boots are positively dreamy! I adore your RADO skeleton watch too! I love the way you can see the components of the watch through the glass! I’ve heard of this sleepwear as outerwear style in the blogging world, but haven’t tried it myself! You look lovely as always.

    Lots of love Saba xx
