Carla Bikini Beachwear Review

I’m doing something I have never done here on Raindrops of Sapphire before, a bikini shoot. I’ve done lingerie in the past, a few times before as you know, but back then I was a lot more confident with my body and as you know, recently, I haven’t been. I mentioned that I am having to stick to a new diet after finding out that I’m intolerant to a lot of foods, and I’ve just recently figured out that I have another digestive issue which I need to figure out how to heal (more on that soon), but I was confident enough over the weekend to actually model this beachwear set from Carla Bikini as I wasn’t bloated! I’ve had quite a few days where my stomach has felt a lot flatter, however I’m still carrying extra weight (which I can’t shift) compared to what I used to be a while back, but I’m embracing the body confidence and not feeling ashamed anymore. Yes I am not as slim as I used to be (see here and here for reference), but I’m ok with my new figure and as everyone is completely different, unique, and individual, I’m happy with my new curves. So, lets get to the bikini review!

I got to collaborate with Carla Bikini, a French website that sells bikini’s online and internationally, and usually I turn things like this down due to feeling insecure and never wearing bikinis, but this one really resonated with me as the people there are lovely and they have such beautiful swimwear, so it seemed like a great fit. I chose to model and review the Carla-Bikini Yellow Bandeau Swimsuit in Electro Zest along with the Carla-Bikini Yellow Brazilian Bikini Swimsuit in Happy Zest for the actual main swimwear piece. I chose the bikini top in a size UK 12 (French size 42) as I am fuller chested as you know, and I think I could have actually done with a 14 as it was a little small for me and some under boob was happening, but because I’m not really used to bikinis as such, I did feel like it was fine. It held me in in all the right places and I actually found it to be incredibly flattering with the halterneck tie and the bandeau front. I felt that it gave me a really nice shape. I took the matching bottoms in a size 10 (French 40) and they seemed to fit ok. I do have a larger butt so they just about covered from the back, but from the front they were perfectly fine. I love the little braided rope detail on the sides of the bikini bottoms, it’s such a pretty touch! Plus, isn’t the citrus yellow such a beautiful colour? It’s really bright and exactly like a lemon in real life!

Now for the rest of the look, to feel more secure and comfortable, I chose this Emmatika Orange Sarong in Apache Saronga to give me some more modesty. It’s one size so I didn’t have to select a size, and it fits really well. It ties up nicely at the side and allows the bikini bottoms to peek through, which I think is perfect. Plus, the Aztec print is so much fun! It’s really bright and colourful, and I think it complements the bikini just enough, while also standing out as a piece on its own. I love the coverage that it gives me and the asymmetric style of it is really flattering for an hourglass figure too. Then the final part of this look was the Amazonas Enjoy Leopard Pink, Orange and Gold Flip Flops, which are another complementary colour and print to the entire outfit. I don’t wear flip flops that often actually, but surprisingly these ones are extremely comfortable and secure on my feet, with a lot of soft foam underneath for a spongy feel. I’m definitely taking them to the beach in St. Ives this summer, along with the rest of the look!

Adam and I actually went to the beach at Burnham-on-Sea over the weekend and wow was it hot! That’s where we shot these photos and honestly, I’ve not really felt heat like that there before, it was beyond uncomfortable and not something I am used to! That’s what I generally dislike about UK summer weather, it’s hot, but it’s sweaty and muggy at the same time, you can literally feel the humidity in the air and I can’t stand that. I much prefer a more dry heat and luckily as far down south as St. Ives is, you get that there. It’s hardly ever sweaty and I really enjoy my beach time there. So anyway, as this is my first time ever modelling a bikini, please do let me know what you think! And if you have ever tried Carla Bikini before? They really do have some beautiful pieces to choose from, from an array of various brands. Lorna xx.

Lorna, you have a beautiful figure… I know we don’t always feel our best physically all the time… but embracing our curves is a great way to start… Yellow is a great color for bathing suits too… so nice and summery xox

I hope you figure out the food issues, it is so tough when you have so many foods that can flare up and cause problems xox

Thanks, Launna! I have actually had testing done which I wrote about which showed up my intolerance’s to 4 things, but I still get bloated and gassy with other foods as well as I have other stuff wrong, so I will get there!

Very nice indeed. 🙂 Yellow is such a cheerful summer colour and this bikini is a lovely style. I’m reading this entry almost a week late… we’re in such a different phase of weather now compared to when you shot these photos. 😀

Yes, I’m OK Lorna, thanks. 🙂 Just having a bit of a tiring time at work these two weeks so not spending as much time online before bedtime most nights. 🙂 Don’t worry though… I always catch up. 😀

Wow Lorna you look stunning and have an amazing figure! Sometimes it’s hard to feel our best when dealing with health issues that affect our appearance. But it’s a very positive thing that you had the confidence to embrace a bikini photo shoot, and celebrate your curves. You looked beautiful in your past photo shoots that you shared the links too, but you look equally beautiful now. I adore the bright yellow bikini and the design is very flattering and feminine.

    Love Saba xx
