A Trench Coat With Denim Dungarees

Black Denim Dungarees With A Trench Coat

You may have noticed that I’m pulling out a lot of older pieces from my wardrobe lately and incorporating them into new outfits, mixing and matching. It’s no secret that I have a lot of clothes and I’m always getting caught up in the latest pieces to buy and the new trends, so a lot of my older clothes end up not being worn, which is a shame because I love them. So, in order to really get the value out of my money, I’m using clothing that I’ve owned a long time to go with newer items as well, like this trench coat and these dungarees.

I got this Topshop Trench Coat back in 2015 and I’ve worn it about 3 times on the blog, this making it a 4th time. It’s the only trench coat that I own actually and I’ve always liked its colour and the way it fits. The same goes for these PAIGE Sierra Denim Overalls or Dungarees, whichever you want to call them. I actually got these in 2014 and have worn them 3 times on the blog, which isn’t enough in my opinion. I’m a huge fan of dungarees if they’re skinny and although I would like these ones to be slimmer, I’ve always loved how cool they look when dressed up or down, but I went for an in-between look here.

I layered my dungarees over a simple Oasis White Jumper that I often wear. Their classic knits are so soft and comfortable, they fit me perfectly. The brown, black, and white colour combination is one that I’m always fond of, so to keep that going, I also wore my new Balenciaga Mini City Suede Bag in Brown, which I honestly can’t get enough of at the moment! It’s amazing! Then, to finally add in a pop of colour, but not too much, I chose my Chloe Susanna Boots in Burgundy Velvet. You all know that these are my favourite boots that I own and now that the weather is warming up and not so wet, I can wear them more! Winter would ruin these beauties so they’ve been sitting pretty in the box until now. So, I would love to know what you think of my outfit here! Please comment and let me know!

P.S. – On the 10th March just gone, it was Raindrops of Sapphire’s 7th birthday! I can’t believe it’s 7 years old now, that’s insane! With my packed up schedule though, I didn’t have chance to do a celebratory post, so I’m going to be doing it a month later in April instead! Happy Birthday!

What I Was Wearing:
Dungarees – PAIGE
Coat – Topshop (similar)
Knitwear – Oasis
Shoes – Chloe
Bag – Balenciaga

Great minds think alike, I too have just published a trench post but back to you- love the styling here. Dungarees always remind me of my childhood, they are so cooote- so pairing them with a chic trench and those foxy boots mos def takes you out of the playground and into the room with ze adults, ha!
Oh and P.S. my JORD post is now up toooo. Have a great start to your week. ( :

Congratulations and happy anniversary to Raindrops of Saphire. Cheers to many more years of producing killer content. Great idea to pair your older pieces with new ones. Bloggers tend to wear things once and forget them. I’ll definitely borrow a page from you and do the same. You look awesome as always Lorna!

That is a beautiful trench! I have a classic camel one too, it’s a wardrobe must-have I think! Congrats on your 7 year blogaversary, that’s massive! I’ve only been blogging 5 years and sometimes I think that’s a long time.

It’s good you’re going back and rewearign and re-shooting some of your favourite pieces, always good to see how people mix and match things 🙂

Hope you’ve had a great weekend!

I actually took a leaf out of your book to wear things more than once and go to my older pieces! And thank you for the congratulations. I remember when mine was 5 years, it’s still a huge achievement, so that’s amazing 🙂

Dear Lorna, I like it when I see clothes that are worn again with new pieces, because this helps the planet a lot and bloggers don’t have to buy or wear things all the time – so, well done, I loved your Topshop trenchcoat and dungarees! I love your booties and I think you look very beautiful, as usual! I really loved your pictures and I am such a fan of trench coats! I hope you have a very nice week!

Firstly, congratulations on reaching the 7th birthday of your blog. I think that’s a tremendous achievement. 🙂 I’ve only been a reader here for less than a 3rd of that time but I certainly appreciate the long and rich back history that you have here too and it’s sometime fun in a quiet moment online to randomly visit pages here from before. 😀

This outfit is such a cute combination. It looks both practical for the present mixed weather conditions as well as being quietly elegant. I really like the combination of black with light brown. 🙂

Thank you so much, Steven 🙂 I really appreciate that! It is so strange to think I started this journey 7 years ago, it’s amazing really. It gives me the cringe factor when I look at old stuff though, seeing how much I’ve changed, ha ha.

      • March 22, 2017 / 9:24 pm

I honestly don’t think there’s anything I’ve seen here, from any point, that you should cringe at. 🙂 But wouldn’t it be interesting if your past self from 7 years ago could glimpse some of your present day blog entries? 😀

It would be, I mean when I think about how much I have changed and how different I look, plus I now have achieved a lot of the things I wanted to as well, it would be so insane! I don’t think I would believe any of it, ha ha.

Happy 7th Blog Birthday Lorna! You have lots of reasons to be proud! It’s always a pleasure to visit Raindrops of Sapphire.

This outfit is so sophisticated and I adore it. You have such lovely clothes, it would be a shame for some of your earlier purchases not to be seen. I agree with your philosophy, as we should truly appreciate what we have, rather than spending without thinking. The colour combination of cream, black and brown is very timeless. I’ve never considered wearing dungarees as a grown-up before, but you make them look elegant. Beautiful images as always!

    Lots of love Saba xx

That’s very sweet of you, but I fear that me wearing dungarees would be a scary sight to behold! Seven years wow! That definitely calls for a celebration. I look forward to the official blog birthday post! xx

That depends on how you wear them! With a coat over the top and some boots or something, it can be cute!
