My Next Designer Bag

celine-mini-belt-bag

As you know, I love to save up for a new designer bag whenever I can as it’s something that really gives me a focus. Working hard and saving up my money so that I can buy that new bag I have been lusting after for so long is an amazing feeling, but when you’re self employed, you don’t often know when the next payments are coming or what work might be headed your way. With that in mind, I can find it really difficult saving up the full retail value of a bag like my Celine, a Chanel, Louis Vuitton etc, but that doesn’t mean that I have to miss out at all. Over the years I’ve become quite accustomed to pre-owned luxury goods and I think bags aren’t something to be dismissed.

balenciaga-reebonz

I was introduced to the company called Reebonz (pronounced Ribbons) recently and I loved the concept. They are an online platform based in Singapore which specalise in buying and selling a huge range of authentic, luxury brands from the likes of Balenciaga, Burberry, Celine, Chanel, Chloe, Prada, Givenchy and many more. I’m thinking, maybe it might be a good idea to sort through some of my older pieces in order to sell them on and make some money, and then buy something pre-owned to save money, as long as the bag I am looking for shows up that is.

I saw that Reebonz offers 3 business days delivery, free shipping and returns, and of course the authenticy is guaranteed too as nobody wants to spend a lot of money on a fake, or even be involved with fakes. Sometimes I know shopping for items that have been owned by someone else can take the exclusivity and fanciness out of it, but Reebonz make sure to package your new bag in a black box tied with gold ribbons, so you still get gift wrap, which I think is really important, even if you order via their app or their website, as it still feels like an expensive new purchase.

balenciaga-grey-reebonz

There’s already a bag on my wish list right now that I don’t think I can pay the full retail value of as it wouldn’t be so much of a classic, despite its name. It’s the Balenciaga Classic City in Grey Leather and I think it’s stunning! How amazing would that bag be for Winter? I know I already have the Balenciaga Mini City in Black Suede, but a grey would be so versatile. They have it on Reebonz right now, so it’s incredibly tempting, that’s for sure, but then so is the mini version in the purple burgundy shade.

It seems like it’s really easy to become a member too, you just sign up and if you like something, you can pay via credit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, or a 0% installment plan on finance. How amazing is that? No boutiques even offer that so I would definitely love that option. They even stock Celine, and since I just purchased my own Celine Nano Luggage in Dune, it’s an option to buy in the bigger version in a very similar colour on Reebonz too. If only I knew about this website before as they have the Mini Belt Bag from the brand as well! They also sell shoes, clothing, and accessories, so it’s not just bags if you’re worried, and have online sale events that last a couple of days for members.

reebonz-celine

How many of you would go for pre-owned designer bags as well? Or clothing in general? It’s definitely something that I’m considering as I don’t see anything wrong with giving a bag a new lease of life when the previous owner didn’t want it anymore. If anything, you’re doing a really good deed and you’re saving money, so I think that’s what my next purchase might just be! I’m usually pretty skeptical about second hand websites, but the fact that you can pay by PayPal and do interest free credit, I’m actually amazed by that as it doesn’t mean I have to save up for so long and possibly miss out on the bag I want. I definitely am all for pre-owned. Most of the nice ones I own and love were carefully bought on eBay haha. If they are quality bags (and thus meant to hold up), you now they’ll barely look used and still be in great condition, so why bother with new? I haven’t tried out any of these particular services but this one looks great! Thanks for sharing!

Oh that sounds great, Lana! Which bags of yours did you get pre-owned? I completely agree with you on that point though!

Oh nothing quite as fancy yet… Foley & Corinna, Coach, Marc Jacobs, Lucky Brand, Rebecca Minkoff… 🙂 But I love them all! Haha

I think the nude/pink one on the cover picture is beautiful! I like having options so that is why I usually don’t tend to invest into expensive things (yet) until I have a steady income and a set personal style, it keeps changing as I grow.

Hi Lorna! This seems like a great idea, as designer bags are so expensive full price, and definitely a luxury for most people. I’m not familiar with Reebonz and haven’t bought a second-hand designer bag before, so unfortunately I don’t have any expertise in this. It seems like an amazing concept, but it would be good to get more reviews and preferably hear from someone who’s used this service, for total peace of mind. The choice of bags looks lovely though!

    Lots of love Saba xx

I did do a lot of research on it actually, there’s quite a few people on The Purse Forum who have used them. So it seems quite widely known, around the world, which is promising!

That’s great that you’ve done your homework and heard positive things about them It does seem like a tempting way of owning a designer handbag! xx

I am familiar with this website and I spent countless hours browsing and dreaming of all the bags on the site. The prices are still out of my range even though they are pre-owned but hey, a girl can dream right?

Oh I had to unsubscribe from the Reebonz sale emails as I spent too much there, haha! I have black membership, that tells you all you need to know, ha! They do have such great sales. I like the marketplace to pick up some second hand bargains too, I’ve been looking more at that section of the site as my bag budgets are not as high as they used to be. I got a beautiful 2005 Balenciaga from them just last year, complete bargain!

    Hope you’re having a wonderful week 🙂

Oh wow! That’s lucky to pick one of those up! It makes sense to me that you would already know the site and have used it since your bag collection is amazing! I’m always looking at your Balenciagas! I only own one, in the black suede, so I’m desperate for another one. If you rate the site and have used it lots, that’s even better for me 😀

I don’t think I could ever pay full price for any bag! I get all of mine pre-owned, usually on eBay (carefully). Bags are like cars, they depreciate so quickly its rarely (if ever) worth buying new!
