The Little Things I Love About Christmas

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

I haven’t ever made a post like this before in the whole time I have had my blog (almost 4 years), so I thought it would be fun to share with you what I look forward to and love the most about Christmas. For a while I will admit that I was a bit of a scrooge and didn’t enjoy Christmas very much as it’s just a regular day like any other, however I realised that Christmas is what you make of it. You can’t expect miracles and fun to happen if you aren’t trying to make them happen, which is why this year I have ditched my scrooge attire and am being really festive with my decorations and Christmas jumpers! I have listed all of the things I look forward to at Christmas time in this post and I hope you like them and share some of the excitement too! I would love to know what you love about this time of year as well! If you still need to do some last minute shopping though, don’t forget to check out my Christmas Gift Guide by clicking here!

Outdoor Christmas Decorations

The outdoor Christmas decorations can be truly beautiful! One that I remember well was the huge decorated Christmas tree at Somerset House in London in the photo above. It was gorgeous! I think seeing decorations like this outside just really makes everyone smile, especially when the lights are really white and pretty. I don’t only just love the huge decorations, but I love the smaller ones too, when people just wrap a few lights around a small tree or something else. I can’t wait to share with you my Christmas decorations post in full soon!

Little Indoor Christmas Decorations

One of my favourite things is decorating the house inside with little ornaments, crackers, tinsel, lights etc. It makes everything look so pretty and festive, It’s beautiful! These photos are two little snaps I took last Christmas of a cracker and a snowman snow globe. This year, my mum decorated her windows with these beautiful light up stars! Aren’t they pretty?

Wishing For Snow

One of the things I have only ever seen once was snow on Christmas day. I have always wished that it would snow on Christmas day, just to make it really festive like it is in the movies! I remember getting a light dusting of it when I was really young and I was so excited! I think snow just makes everything look so beautiful, it’s like a magic layer of glitter which decorates anything it lands on, including rubbish. It’s really warm here for December though, so I think the chances of snow in the UK are pretty slim at the moment! It says 0% chance of it snowing in my city according to the cool tool that I used to check, but you never know! It might change and it might snow on Christmas day! I could get my wish! These photos are taken from when it snowed at other times of the year, but they are still beautiful! Does it snow a lot in December where you live? I’ve always thought those lodges in Lapland look amazing for Christmas, with the reindeer sleigh rides and cabins!

Wearing Festive Christmas Jumpers

A lot of people tend to laugh at my love for Christmas jumpers/sweaters, but I ignore them! I absolutely adore them! This is my beloved patterned reindeer one which is really thick and warm, however I just bought a new bright red reindeer jumper with a ribbon on it. I plan on wearing it with dark green jeans, so I look a little bit like an elf, ha ha. I attached a photo of the new jumper I bought just above and you can buy it here if you like it or if you prefer my jumper further above, you can buy that one here. I also wrote a post on 15 fun and stylish Christmas jumpers which you can check out by clicking here.

Watching Christmas Movies

Oh Christmas movies! I have already watched two of my favourites! The Holiday and Elf! I’ve seen them twice in the past two weeks and it really excites me! There is something about snuggling up inside in the warmth, just watching comfort movies that are festive. It makes me smile and I love it so much. Usually on Christmas day, we tend to watch whatever movies are on the TV and the tradition for the past few years has been watching the 3 On The Buses movies, back to back, ha ha. I love old movies!

Dressing With Fun & Festive Accessories

Last Christmas, these were some of the photos that I used to wish you all a Merry Christmas! I wore this cool Santa hat as I love accessories like this! I love reindeer ears too! But for my Christmas post this time around in a couple of weeks, I have something else planned! I think you will like it!

Christmas Biscuits & Cookies

Another thing I love is baking Christmas cookies! I haven’t really done it properly since I was a child, but I am hoping to make some this year and decorate them really pretty. I don’t like gingerbread at all, the taste is too strong for me, so I think I’m going to make sugar cookies or shortbread! I just love being able to eat lots of cookies and bad things at Christmas though, we always have a home made apple crumble for pudding after dinner!

Family Time & Giving Gifts

I was saving the best thing until last and that is of course spending time with my family and giving the gifts I have bought to people and hoping they like them. Since my boyfriend and I have a long distance relationship, we spend Christmas a little differently. We spend a week together before Christmas and celebrate our own Christmas day on a different day, then the actual Christmas day we spend with our families, then we get to see each other for New Years as well. So essentially, I get two different Christmas’s and I love that! I know a lot of people tend to think that Christmas is just about receiving gifts and eating food, but I often try to remember that it’s about love and spending time with family.

Luckily I’m not quite as white as snow, snow makes me look tanned, ha ha.
