London To Paris, Through Switzerland To Florence

london-Parliament-and-Big-Ben-at-night

I have been waiting to share my little European adventure with you for a while, but I had to wait until it was all booked and confirmed. Now that I can share it with you, I am off to Italy! Firenze in Florence to be exact, however because I can’t fly due to medical reasons, my boyfriend and I are taking the trains. First we will be heading to London, to catch the Eurostar to Paris, then in Paris we will get onto the overnight sleeping train to Florence. The sleeper train goes through all of the Swiss alps, which will be beautiful! It’s going to be a really long amount of travel there and back, however let me tell you the reason why I am going.

Luisaviaroma invited me to their Firenze4Ever bloggers event! Those of you who follow The Blonde Salad or Song of Style etc will know that it’s a really big bloggers event that happens twice a year, over the course of a weekend, to style the new seasons clothes and meet all of the other bloggers. I have been invited a few times before, but unfortunately wasn’t able to attend, however this time I am definitely going and I can’t wait! It will be my first time out of the country (other than Wales) and I couldn’t be looking more forward to it, I am nervous, but definitely excited!

We wont get to stop in Paris long, only a few hours before changing trains, but I have plans for Paris towards the end of the year which I will fill you in on a little later down the line. But for now, my trip to Italy will happen in less than two weeks! I will have limited internet while I am over there of course, but will do my best to update my social media as much as I can and also have posts scheduled to go out on my blog while I am away there. It’s going to be such a fun trip! I will be going through 4 different countries all in one journey! Have any of you ever been to Paris or Florence?

      Thank you AF!

  1. I’m so excited for you!!! I’ve always wanted to make a trip like that, by train and all!! I do hope you have a huge amount of fun and take a lot of pictures so you can let us know about all the good stuff later! =D You say you can’t fly..maybe this is too personal, but if you don’t mind me asking, is it just temporary or are you forbidden to fly ever?

    Have an amazing trip!!

Thanks Rosie! I will definitely be taking lots of photos and sharing them on the blog, don’t worry =) And the reason I can’t fly is because of a couple medical issues. I’m hoping things might be invented in the near future which would help, but if not, then it looks like I wont be able to at all.

wow Lorna, what an adventure! I’m sorry about you not being able to fly but by train is far more romantic and you see so much more of Europe. So you might meet the grande Chiara at the convention? Exiting…Paris I’ve seen oftenly but Florence never…So I’ll just read your blog and see what your impression of Florence will be 🙂

Ticket – If you take the metro, you will insert your ticket into the slot, it will validate and come out at the other end. Retrieve your ticket before going through the turnstyle and hold on to it until fully done using the metro at that time. Sometimes Metro police will ask you to show your ticket as proof you paid.

So Happy for you Lorna, sounds so exciting! I love traveling and I hope you have a marvelous trip and make most of this blogging convention opportunity, it sounds like it’ll be great for your blog. I know it’s what most bloggers do but I hope you don’t feel the need to “live tweet and blog” everything. I hope you take every moment in and enjoy your journey to its fullest. Then when you’re back you can inundate us with posts of it all. That’s my little advice. Safe and happy travels! Take lots of pictures =) (I’d love for you to tell us what they’re wearing in Paris and Florence!)

Oh, wonderful! You’ll have such an amazing time! I did something similar with my fiancé last summer holidays (thankyou, teacher holidays!) and we had such an incredible time. We spent 3 weeks travelling through Europe and it was so good – we started from London too, via Paris (which is beautiful, the drivers are something else, though!), then we went to Amsterdam, Berlin and Prague then finished up in Rome via Munich – and flew home from Rome. I tell you what though, Rome in August is SO hot – and the metro was broken so we had to try and walk between places. Make sure you take lots of lightweight floaty things!

The overnight train was a really fun experience – it’s definitely something you have to do! The journey through Switzerland is so pretty, it looks lovely in the sunset in particular! You’ll feel really weird for the first few hours when you get off the train though, kind of like you’re still moving on the train. Felt very weird. Went away quite quickly though. I’ve been to Florence too, and that’s a lovely city as well. Oh, you’ll have such a fantastic time – make sure you fill us in when you’re back!

Oh thank you for that! That’s really helpful to me! I am packing dresses and shorts and tank tops as I know it’s hot there already, it’s around 30 celcius! How did you find the sleeper train, were you able to sleep on it ok?
